Neofox Posted September 9, 2005 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Evnin people. Ian here, sittin happy with my 97 WRX STi Type-RA Classic. Superb car, the feelings it puts in your stomach when you turn over that ignition is magical. I saved hard and worked hard and jumped from a taxi like mondeo straight to this and its been the best thing i`ve done all be it a bit more costly than i planned! 6 months into ownership i had the fatal big end failure so i had to scrimp and beg and get that sorted. Now 3 months into rebuild and all is looking good! (apart from the red figure on my account) ECU upgrade next once i can afford it. (Anyone got a second hand Apexi lying around??) The look that it gets when it grumbles through the town is great, you get people of all descriptions looking and pointing which i find amazing and theres the kids who you can hear shouting "wow nice car" and the such which call me a big kid is a very satisfying feeling to see others smile at something i put alot of hard work into. I even get the corsa guys sitting behind me as i pull away just cause they love the noise the car makes Then theres the driving, you just feel so connected, theres alot of feedback but also the car can tell you alot before something bad happens. colin_ross Posted September 9, 2005 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Not my first scoob but defo my best, my current whip is a my99 STI5 Type R. My last one was a silver uk 97 and boy was I clueless. Didn't know a thing about them before I bought it and ran it for 3 years on Safeway petrol and £10 brake pads (I'm not joking). I thought it was great and when I sold it I alway told myself I'd have another one. I was actually looking for an Evo VI when the Type R was brought to my attention, it was too much of a bargain to pass up. Or so I thought. The car itself has been great but the modding bug has bitten hard and its cost me more than a few bob recently. Loved it and kept it for 4 years before selling to my uncle. Bought an 00 Uk Turbo Dark Mica Blue, added a hooligan exhaust and some Eibachs and convinced my old man to buy an 04 WRX. Bought it standard, 3 years later it was difficult to find a standard bit. Sold it earlier this year to get a tow vehicle for the track car. So now I have a ............ Misubishi Shogun 2800. My choice of car has always reflected this although coming from Belfast originally insurance was always a real stumbling block. Been through all the novas from 1.2 to gsi, then had a run with Seat Ibiza 2.0 16V cupra sports....mmmmm Moved to Scotland and fulfilled my ambition of getting a scooby. First one was a 97 Uk Turbo 2000 which was fantastic.....Sold this last Novemeber and bought a 97 sti3 Jap Import...much higher spec and fantastic car....on the down side my wife drives it all week...gets some good looks from the kids in stirling as she rumbles past...so I only get to drive it at the weekend....boo hoo.... brent_burnet Posted September 9, 2005 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Hi i am Brent started off with a 94 wrx wagon 6 years ago loved every minute of owning it had it for almost 4 years swapped it for an evo 5 for a year or so loved that car as well (shouldnt be saying that on here really) sold the evo at the start of the year drove a corolla for 6 months bought a 98 v4 wrx sti type R 2 months ago i would say it is the best car i have had the evo was ultra safe this thing i have now scares me at times must master the diff lock fed up of going sideways with no warning hope that doesnt happen at the knockhill day on the 25th lol 1. Then spent another fortune modifying the engine/brakes/suspension somewhat. Love the noise, love the car. Its a bit addictive though In the process of rebuilding a six speed gearbox for it at the moment, quite fancy the RCM carbon fibre prop shaft too as the 5 speed is too long.(see what I mean about adictive) 1. My first was a '03WRX ( red ) only had it for 5 months & had to sell it to help finance house move when the sale eventually went thru, decided to go for the RB5 ( WR sport model ) & there has been a HUGE grin on my face ever since. the things i like best are the look on people's faces when you drive past ............. also the instantly recognizable noise of a scooby burble 1. Bought a MY98 Wagon in May 2003, done some serious mods, and tried several different turbos/exhausts/injectors/intercoolers... only to be extremely dissapointed with the results i got. The car was then stripped back to standard, and swapped for the Civic Vti. Should've had a new scoob 3 weeks ago..but was let down. Just hoping i can get another one soon, and get back in the fold. My first car was...um....this scoob and i got it at the young age of 25. Loved it since i got it and have done a few things since...only a few My modifying has always been the quest for more torque and in doing so i am on my 3rd gearbox, but a good one at that an sti6 that will take more power. I always wanted a scooby so i got one, i got a standard one so i could mod it myself!! since buying i have got clear indicators, sti wheels, sti6 spoiler and full decat. I love driving the car, its fun and people look at it and the sound is the best! last week i managed to blow the big ends so i have an empty engine bay awaiting a new lump!! 1. I have now even bought a second car (a lovely mondeo ) so that my scooby doesnt have to do the tedious commute or go out on the nasty rainy and snowy days Have just got hold of a second hand Apexi ECU and here starts the mod collection to 300+ WUZ, you'll be getting a call once I've gathered my bits 1. Got a few plans for it over the winter if i get the dosh and time! There are so many things i love about it, the noise, the looks it gets, the driving position, handling, everything!!! and i love the fact its black - not too many black classics kicking about 1.
