BLOB EYE Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 .net seems to be less moderated There are complaints that its too moderated with too many rules so not sure what forum you are browsing but you are in a welcomed minority if thats what vibes you are picking up
bombsquad Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 But are you not be taking this complaint from a younger audience Eddie?
mctwistuk Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 How do you strike a balance, "if"and that is only an "if" over moderation is a possible cause of lack of traffic on this forum.
wilky Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Some valid points, and very good comments. When I say the days of the 4x4 rice rocket are over, I of course refer to the fact that Imprezas are no longer sold by subaru in the UK, and the Evo was killed off a number of years ago.

You cant mate, you take the rough, some people will not like it, and they will leave causing a shit storm and follow you to make sure everyone knows. others will just take it for what it is and get on with life and not let it bother them. You just ride the storm until the dust settles, they cant see that you are not there to please those individuals or small groups of individuals, you are there for the benefit of all and have to make those decisions knowing they wont like it. some people out grow forums and need to move on, but the forum will always be there and so will the new members that sign up daily and new characters will become those that left. part of life. BLOB EYE Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Guess that's something we can be greatfull of george
fai17 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Agree with point made by Archie and Callum. The days when I joined on 2003 was great. We had a right good laugh and banter. East vs west was common. Went to knock hill and crail as a group and general done loads together to make the bonding grow. Part of life is things change but still hear to read or post when need to. 1
Guest Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Arch that link was started as a genuine topic to get people actually posting and interacting. The fact that it descended I to carnage is down to Phil Mc. He's immature.

jamesm Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 If we could bottle the energy from this thread and spread it across the forum then there would be more activity than we could ever want. 7 pages and counting in a thread about the lack of activity in the forum? Picking up the points about moderation. I don't think over moderation is the problem, but the balance is wrong. It seems to prevent banter yet fails to prevent threrads being diluted and clogged with crap.
Gee Wr1 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 As a long term member of both forums i've read through this topic and laughed at some posts and thought ffs at others. This place has been a ghost town for a few years now and your wondering how to revive it? Well your certainly going about it the wrong way! Any young owners would be put of by just by reading this thread, you have them labelled as chav's and boyracers ok there is some lol but your forgetting about the young enthusiasts who are going to be put of reading the likes of this topic and go join .net instead. You lot are so wrong saying .net is all youngsters far from it it has a wide age range. PMSL at monsterenergys post above moaning .net is to busy and to many posts/topics, which would you rather a thriving moving forum or a stagnant forum where there's hardly any new topics in a week and when there is nobody replies ? I'm not defending .net either, there's stuff i don't like/agree with on there as well like the recent goings on and the likes of George and others leaving the forum, its not perfect but hey nothing is. But forum time for me is usually when i get in from work and sit down with a coffee to relax and there's stuff to read on .net as sidc has bugger all going on. I'll still continue to check in here like i always have done and hopefully it might pick up again but i think its hey day may have passed as so many of the folk from that time have moved on and no longer on the scene. I'll always have fond memorise of Grant & Imy's mad runs and even of Gumball dressed in his race suit for one lol.Btw any of you still in touch with Grant pass on my best to him as last i heard he had some health problems, a true gent and made us welcome on the first run we went on when we didn't know anyone. Oh and just to bring up something again changing to the "internatioal" rather than "impreza" drivers club was stupid whoever came up with that idea hang your head and those who backed it shame on you lol it lost the club its identity

Point is tho if this topic gets removed then folk just start bitchin' about 'over moderation' FFS you just cant win Oh and yes you have a very very valid point! Oh and just to bring up something again changing to the "internatioal" rather than "impreza" drivers club was stupid whoever came up with that idea hang your head and those who backed it shame on you lol it lost the club its identity What can say
BLOB EYE Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I'm not defending .net either, there's stuff i don't like/agree with on there as well like the recent goings on and the likes of George and others leaving the forum, its not perfect but hey nothing is. Some good points Gee, everyone has a choice to log on or not, when people request to have accounts deleted for whatever reason, legally it has to be actioned.
scottishtaffy Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) total agreement with gee wr1 on the iternational bit. i joined coz it was ' impreza ' drivers club had it been internatonal at the start i would have probaly been on a different club. they say that it because that not everyone on here drives an impreza..... errr i think you will find that 99.7 % on here do and the majority of the posts are impreza related .me personnaly think that the biggest down turn is down to work patterns, ie not being able to meet up or go to events as much. and a bit like school friends in the fact that as we get older and life changes we dont speak to them as much but they are still there if need be. plus the economic state of play for these vehicals , fuel and running costs means that there are not as many people driving them. i was a late bloomer to the impreza scene as only thru a death compensation from my sister did i find myself able to afford one and being older now being able to insure it. but love it and i love the forum . i am guilty of not posting so much. novelety has worn off sort of thing i think. but i still go on. i love the banter and i have made some great new friends thru meets and club runs. what with family and work commitments ( more hours to pay for mods and runs ) some times has the oppisite affect as i end up working on meets and runs some times. tho always make sure ive got a long weekend in april booked off normally the week after the highland fling.. we like the forums for what they are but the younger lot are more face book, whats app, and all the bollocks that go with it and they find it easier to arrange things that way. there also not so technically minded for using forum o help with scooby related problems they just put it too a garage. where as i have learnt so much from the forum and fellow drivers. Funny thing is , everyone who's asked for accounts to be deleted all have the same reason for wanting to leave
BLOB EYE Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Everyone ? you mean the select few that were in the same clique, Im not going to spill this onto another forum george so please dont continue to comment on that side of the subject, SIDC does not need SS or CSSC drama, if you could also update CSSC then i would then class you as the man
GORDYSTI Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Everyone ? you mean the select few that were in the same clique, Im not going to spill this onto another forum george so please dont continue to comment on that side of the subject, SIDC does not need SS or CSSC drama, if you could also update CSSC then i would then class you as the man Not everyone got the option to ask for their account to be deleted!!!
BLOB EYE Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) Your account is not deleted Gordy, Its still on the forum, You are banned, I sent you a PM saying how i got you wrong then found out that you were more than being the keyboard warrior on cssc. again, this is not SIDC business and i apologise on behalf of CSSC for their users coming on SIDC to continue trolling when they have my direct email and can contact me about anything. Its lorraine that has had the brunt of it as i banned her account through no fault of her own so that you do not use it for access although i know you have both been down to gordies to look with his, or at least thats what you told him you would do Edited August 7, 2013 by blob eye
scoobywho Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) I dont really agree with banning on a forum unless its a spammer, its a free world if someone banned me from a forum I would just keeo making new usernames up lol Edited August 7, 2013 by scoobywho
BLOB EYE Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 In some cases it is required to protect the remainder of the community. Im not sure what software is used on the other forums but we also ban IP so its more a waste of the persons time. And at the end of the day its better for all to let the priverbial just lie
