Joe G Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Ok its time for me to get another Impreza!! Lasted a whole 9 months without one but now have withdrawl symptoms! haha Question is where is best to insure? Had 5 imprezas in the past, paid £650 a year fully comp for insurance for the Spec C I used to have. Trying to get quotes just now and they are just ridiculous (double what i paid last time round). Waiting for a call back from Keith Michaels to see if they are any better!! Any suggestions? Looking at getting a version 5 or 6 (possibly a type R). Cheers Joe
Robiedoo Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I managed £520 fully comp with quotemehappy via compare the market. Somehow! Previously I have been with Adrian Flux who have been competitive. If you want to rack up ncb quickly, consider a 10 month policy with the likes of elephant or admiral.
scootmuldoon Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I went with SKY Insurance, by far the cheapest for my 2003 STi.
jebus82 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I went with SKY Insurance, by far the cheapest for my 2003 STi. yeah but you drive like a girl snudger!
scooby222 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 sky insurance for me too, though insuring scoobs has gone up regardless of your circumstances
jamesm Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Just renewed with Admiral lat week. £442 - thats £40 cheaper than last year!
gus the bus Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I got mine from RAC this time around. under £300 for the year with all mods listed/covered. But then I'm an old with 15 years NCD
scooby222 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I got mine from SAGA this time around. under £300 for the year with all mods listed/covered. But then I'm an old with 15 years NCD edited for accuracy
patsy Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Try 1st Central. They covered me fully comp, lots of lovely points and only 26 years old. A smidge over £500! Had my wrx for nearly 5 years and this is less than half all the previous years premiums! Worth a quote at least. Ryan
gus the bus Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 edited for accuracy Dave, you know fine well that's Bobby C that uses SAGA. I'm not just there yet
spect Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I got mine from Keith Michaels for £550 fully comp all mods declared, covers all future mads too.
johnmacdonald Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I pay £308 with Aviva for our lightly modded WRX, but both drivers are over 60 with over 20 years claim free!! There are advantages to being considered as past it... However, still able to scare Novas, Saxos and the like.
spect Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Hmm, Aviva decided to make mine £2546 with mods even though I am max protected no claims and over 50! £389 the previous year, harumph.
jebus82 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 simple answer....shop around! insurance companies will give us all different quotes, even if we all entered basically the same details! ive had quotes from companies and got another quote from them a week later thats dearer??
scootmuldoon Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 yeah but you drive like a girl snudger! True, but im pretty sure i'd whip you!!

kebab nemesis Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Out of the country at the moment (Angola) so I nearly had a fit when Shaz told me Elephant hiked my insurance for the RB320 up from £320 to £330, what abunch of to**ers.
marko72 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 (edited) You'll need to stay out the country a bit longer to earn that extra tenner then. Edited January 20, 2012 by marko72

Simondo Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I'm with Sky too. The cost for insuring the Scoob that I bought today is over £100 less than the Lantis Type-R that I had before. I'll never understand insurance companies!
cammy Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 anyone tried on classic insurance, I fancy a v2 sti 55 but I use all my NCB on my normal car, the scoob would only be used for a toy
MicktypeWR1 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Very pleased to report that putting my trust in Keith Michael's main man, Gary Moulson, has paid off. He's checked around for me and reverted mine to who he insured me with 2 yrs ago AND saved me money with it coming in under £500 all in with mods declared etc. Mind you, I'm classed as a member of The Old Brigade ! Cheers Gary !
