Fatboy Is Dead

Recommended Posts

What can I say, I really feel for you mate.

First off I'm glad nobody was hurt physically, I know emotionally you must be pretty raw just now. The effort, time and worry in building a car like that means it was more than just a car and those of us who have went down the same road will be feeling your pain.

It can and never will be replaced but the JP feature will remind us what a bloody amazing machine it was.

Dear All,

Yesterday afternoon I drove to Cambuslang to see my friend and let the bodyshop who built the fatboy know that S 666 OBY would be the cover car in Jap Performance.

Whilst approaching the Mini roundabout at the West End Bar on Glasgow Road the engine burst into flames and the car was quickly engulfed. Me and the passanger were lucky to escape with our lives, it was that quick.

hey mate

it all happened really quick theres nothing anyone could have done just glad it happened when it did

it could have been alot worse than it was

we were very lucky to get out when we did

its still not sunk in yet cant believe it happened

it was truly a one off car

Really feel for you mate .........

Just relieved you and Ian got out the car as quick as you did. I'm amazed you still managed to grab your belongings under the circumstances...

Lost for words !

Frank.

Callum,

I can't believe what i am reading.

firstly im glad you both got out in time and are safe and hurt.

secondly im gutted for you - I have so many memories of you with your car from the times our pathes have met, the last being the Mcrae gathering iirc

Whatever you decide car wise, please do keep in contact as you are a great bloke and will be missed if you disappear from here in total.

Take care

This was caused by the passenger side APS fuel rail splitting and for no other reason. The quality of workmanship on the car from Greers to SW has always been outstanding and I simply wont tolerate any rumor mongering or gossip.

I would like to thank Strathclyde Fire Brigade for showing up as quickly as they did, and The Police for being helpful and sympathetic.

Thats it. Its over, I am gutted. My romance with subarus is over and I shall not be modifying any more cars.

To those that I know its been fun but thats it, game over.

To the subaru rubberneckers who drove past, took photographs and didnt offer any help, shame on you.

Callum I've never felt so numb as when I received your call yesterday. My heart sank, I could'nt believe what I was hearing. Your voice told me how lucky you were to escape with your lives, I know it's only a car, but it was a one off. I've probably been in contact with S666OBY more than most, as I've looked after it for nearly 2 years. Today I could'nt look in to my storage unit as I knew what lay there.

Callum my thoughts are with you mate.

Steve.

Gutted for you Callum, I always had a second glance at the fatboy thinking that looks & sounds the absolute biz

I remember trying to follow your flames, pops & bangs coming back from the weegi BBQ a couple of years ago in torrential rain heading down the Stirling straights, what a sight, just glad your both OK

respect

I guess I won't be getting the honour of getting to MOT it again. It was always a car that I would be offering you ridiculous money for if my numbers had come up. Remember all the fun you had in it, and try to forget how you lost it. It may not be a Scoob, but I know that you will own another special car one day.

Dude, I've not had a chance to reply to this thread as I've been down at Dave's this weekend, but I think I said it elsewhere, So glad that you are OK, but absolutely gutted for you... I know how much of you, you put into your cars, and it was a special car before you even got it... Cant even begin to imagine how your feeling right now...

Hope everything gets sorted soon though and you can move on in whatever direction that you want to go after this...

Very sad news indeed!

This piece of machinery was way more than just a car – automotive pornography/work of art - think everyone who saw it, fell in love with it (remember DougieC’s face when he first saw it in the flesh, certainly filled the memory card of his camera that day) and would offer various vital organs as part exchange.

Hope everyone that was involved in the build of the car are well proud of what they produced and I feel for all of you!

Main thing is Callum and Ian, you both walked away!

The Fatboy will never be forgotten – way too many pics for that!

Feel for you guys, but chins up.

Derek
