Looking good mate. What about carbon boot lid?

Might be a possibility in the future paul, i'd change the rear 3 windows to plastic lightweight jobbies before boot lid as that would save me more weight for same money. All in good time :icon_salut:

Only found out about it yesterday and glad i did coz I went and came first :occasion14:

Heres a wee vid I put together, I would have had more footage if the go pro didnt run out of battery, thought it was fully charged yesterday but obviously not.

Today was a first for 63 car club and it was a success, there will be more organised so I hope some of you are willing to try it too.

There is still plenty material you can still take out of the door and save a bit more weight. Its definately a nice wee job removing the door bars lots of this :brickwall: At least you only had 2 doors to do lol. Or just do what I have done now go fibreglass ;)

Dave - I'll keep everyone posted about the next AutoSolo

Arch - I will eventually go for fibreglass doors but not just yet so just doing what I can with what I have. Not looking forward to tackling the passanger door but glad I dont have 4 to do lol

Passanger door crash bar removed and now the car weighs 3kg less, not a lot but theres much more to come out of the door. Eventually they will be changed for moulded and plastic windows, maybe next year.

Put the door back on so I can use the car. I plan to get the car weighed to see where its at, in the meantime I'll be looking into more ways to lighten the car. A lot of wiring can come out the loom since it was stripped there is a lot of connectors floating about. Little bit at a time, all adds up

Cheers bryan, always lookin for ways to improve :icon_salut:

30kg a door :) Good to know!

Was the with the orig electic mirror?

My car is sitting around 1155 kg so should slide under 1100 when doors are changed

Yip Adam, thats with fully functioning electric windows still in place. I do keep a keen eye on your threads for ideas and look forward to the new wideboy project you have :icon_salut:

Decided to go for the rear brembo brake conversion, sourced some calipers, discs & pads from scoobynet from an 06 plate STI that was breaking so I've started the conversion...

Old 2 pots

Disc size comparison

Fortunately for me, my handbrake is 190mm so the newage discs are a direct fit for my handbrake shoes. The backing plate however has to be removed to let the larger discs fit. So this backing plate can be drilled out and removed. I thought best to clean up the hubs at same time so this is them primered and the backing plate to show what I removed.

Calipers stripped and cleaned

I am going to order uprated discs and pads, probably going to try the orangestuff track pads, anyone tried these?

Does anyone know if the counter weight is necessary or can I fit the calipers without it?

Do you guys think I should keep the calipers gold or paint them black?

Cheers
