TrackScotland Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 righto... really need to pull my finger out with this car! Got a trackday on the 6th, and I'd love to use that as a test for the new brakes/susp/alignment. Suspension: Just waiting for the EXE TC's to arrive via Lateral. pics of the Whiteline gubbins waiting to be fitted... didnt get any nuts/bolts with them so bought new for droplinks and will use OE for ALK (if they are ok) :| Here are links to instructions, they are from Whitelines website Roll Centre Kit :- http://www.whiteline.com.au/instruction/Z370_KCA313.pdf Anti Lift Kit :- http://www.whiteline.com.au/instruction/Z179f_KCA319A.pdf Front Drop Links :- http://www.whiteline.com.au/instruction/Z321_KLC30.pdf Rear Drop Links :- http://www.whiteline.com.au/instruction/238_klc26.pdf Diff / Subframe lock bolts :- http://www.whiteline.com.au/instruction/Z200_KSB750.pdf Electrics: Just bought a battery cage for a varley redtop 15, will buy the battery from Demon Tweeks on Monday. I have all the cables and conectors ready to relocate the battery to behind passenger seat. Also have to wire in the cut off and remote cut off switches (not ideal type, but will test to see if it kills engine before fitting i.e remove battery connection). Then.. the rain light which i'll have to read up on as there arent any instructions. Must be simple enough. I'd think the resistor just goes in line with the +ve feed from a switch. Sooo much stuff just piling up to fit to the car :|
bob wrx Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 looking good adam! did you get your ecu problem sorted? im the same got so much stuff to fit! hopefully should have my whiteline roll bars and hks pipework back from pps on tuesday! then gotta fit all that and brembos and hoses too!
TrackScotland Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Looking into the misfire issue just now, hopefully its all sorted. Also had an uprated actuator fitted so its making more power from the outset - holding more boost higher up the revs. Edited January 24, 2010 by TrackScotland
TrackScotland Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 battery and tow strap ordered (cant use OE tow point with JUN lip and big splitter ) same battery as Skyline - Varley Redtop 15 •Voltage=12 •Capacity=14Ah •Weight=5.0kgs •Dimensions=200x77x140mm •Terminals=M6 male •Cranking current (20°C for 5secs)=400A. and an adjustable TRS tow strap
TrackScotland Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 got the car back now though... still misfiring though BUT more power, more boost 379bhp & 358lbft Still plenty of room left for the switch over to E85 once misfires are sorted. 65% duty at std pressure, 1.7bar peak dropping to 1.45 at 7000rpm or so
cullenmin Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Nice figures Adam, will be interesting how these compare with the E85 Rich
bob wrx Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 thats some good figures adam! what spec is the engine and turbo?forged 2.0 + 20g? was just having alook through your post again are you just running jubilee clips on yor fmc pipework? what sort of prices are wallace for mapping as gonna need mine done soon and dont know if i can wait for andy forrest also have simmies old ecu so already mapped by russ!
TrackScotland Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 (edited) Not sure on their prices as I never seem to only get mapping done. Give them a call and ask 01224 708444 Engine - Forged Omega pistons +0.5mm STi 9 rods STi 9 crank Piper race cams AFP 20G with Uprated Forge actuator metal HG uprated oil pump ARP big end bolts Lateral baffled sump Edited January 29, 2010 by TrackScotland
TrackScotland Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Battery Cage - wrong one sent RT 20 instead of RT15 that I needed! Front dropliks fitted Anti Lift Kit - pain in the a*** gettign the subframe brace to line up afterwards and the big feckoff bar made to get the bolts loose!!! Old 4 pot OE brakes with 2 piece discs stripped Whiteline gubbins on, will get the rod end's done soon enough New brakes on.... spot the deliberate mistake and also had to grind the calipers to clear the wheels! (even with 5mm spacers on)
paul555sti Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Looking good Adam I know hee haw about suspension but just a quick question. The distance between the centers on the old droplinks looks greater than that of the new ones, and when fitted the new ones seem to sit a bit of an angle. Is this normal ?
TrackScotland Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 shorter would cause more (pre)tension on the ARB. The angle is normal as far as i'm aware. (in the pic above I dont think they were fully tightened)
tommo9375 Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 (edited) TrackScotland said: shorter would cause more (pre)tension on the ARB. The angle is normal as far as i'm aware. (in the pic above I dont think they were fully tightened) I fitted these whiteline type droplinks before to replace the bearing type ones in your pic and after a while the bushing popped out the droplink due to the angle and stress it was under.I think you need to fit the Whiteline 'bearing' type ones Edited January 30, 2010 by tommo9375
J.C. Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I think those drop links are for cars with steel bottom arms, the ones for your car (alloy arms) are different.
bob wrx Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 the links i got from carl daveys car are the adjustabe one which are i believe are the correct one for the alloys arms?
dipsy Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 (edited) The whiteline spherical bearing's Kcl39 i have these on my Sti just took of rear passenger side of and cleaned up then regreased no clunking on gear changes now.If you look in Badbaz's thread in general there is a new heavy duty bearing drop link but i don't know the part number Edited January 30, 2010 by Dipsy
simon_mcwilliam Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Adam, when I changed the lower arms on my uk scoob to alloy ones, I had to change the drop links that you have fitted for the other type which are suitable for the STI. These drop links sit how the old ones did not a funny angle like yours.
TrackScotland Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 cool - just double checked the whitline site and yup it says KLC30 isnt for STi/alooys lower arms. Cant seem to pinpoint the ones I need though (KLC 39) Founf the KLC 38 which seems to be the one - anyone confirm? http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_detail...rt_number=KLC38
DR Motosport Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Yes you need KLC38. KLC39 is for a new-age.
TrackScotland Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Do you sell them Davie? I'll be making a list of other things too. Camber bolts etc
dipsy Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) The KLC39 and KLC38 are the same droplink just different fittings .The klc39 have all 10mm bolts four spacers for newage KLC38 have 2 10mm bolts 2 spacers to fit that size and i think the other two bolts are 8mm with machined spacers for classic Edited February 2, 2010 by Dipsy
TrackScotland Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 yup... looks like the 39 is the one (from PDF pics)
TrackScotland Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Started work on the oil cooler today... and in the end just removed it all again. I dont have much more time before Sat and wasnt overly happy with the postion and pipe work. I think a different shape cooler might work better but a bit of time (and some heat sleeves for pipes that run my the headers) will prob sort it out. Cant see oil temps being that major of an issue this week! not happy mounting this way round... headers etc Replaced some breather hoses for some better looking black ones. and the tow strap
TrackScotland Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 RightRear on no probs, just a big of the usual jiggery pokery to get things to line up. Rear Left - EXE TC put the strut together with the wrong topmount :| Quick phone call confirmed it to be for a newerage impreza (wider bolt pattern). Should have the right one soon. Front Right On, and nipped up till I decide what to do with top mount, and remove strutbrace. Will do the front left tomorrow. Some brake dust from the weekend. Taking it easy then :| Wired up the wee battery and junked the OE one that seems to have been leaking and rusting away the tray! Thats all for today.
