After a wee run the other day i got thinking about some of the best and worst run in's with other cars ive had, be it quartermile or some twisty B roads.

So whats the best car anyone has shown up...

And what cars have left the scoobys for dust??

Own up!

Best: Corvette with my present car (couldnt beleive it)

Worst: Audi RS4 Estate pumping my classic turbo wagon

Only had two real blasts against other cars and they were:

1) 06 or 07 Lotus elise

2) Focus rs

pulled away from the elise quite easily, couldnt believe it! The focus gave a bit more of a fight but still couldnt keep up!

Was fun!! :)

I had a Golf R32 try to have a pop at me today on the road from Largs to Wemyss Bay. Didn't stand a chance :D:D

Best one has to by my old punto GT turbo humiliating a skyline gts on the quarter mile at crail :D (punto was putting out near 200bhp tho)

Worst was being completely smoked in when i had my evo 5 by a corsa :) Must have been a tuned 2ltr turbo lump in it!! Was embarrasing as i had 2 of my mates in the car!!

My best is a Dodge Viper at Crail only won cos the guy basically couldn't launch it :)

My worst at Crail also on the same day was a bloody Corsa. Raced it 5 times, off the line he was gone and he managed to reel me in 5 times in a row and just only beat me several times :D

I spoke to him after and the circa 360BHP he showed me under the bonnet may have been something to do with it :D

Best two wins were against an R32 golf in a classic type R - totally left it for dead, and an Audi S4 in my V6 ZS. it was a close run thing but I just got him in the end

Was totally owned by a Range Rover Vouge a few months ago - but the driver was a total phycopath and had the thing almost on two wheels at one point.

Best 2 I can remember were my wife's Fiesta RS Turbo (admittedly with 200 bhp) beating several Cosworths and a RS500 round Donington Grand Prix circuit at National Day. Was later told that the RS500 driver was a Formula Ford Racer or something - didn't help him much.

The second was on my VFR400 NC30 up the EK to Strathaven road one night with a Triumph 900 up my chuff - came to the twisty bit at Flatmoss and left him for dead - I made about 600 yards on him and he had to give it big to get back on to me before I turned off in to Chapelton - to be fair to him he gave me a big thumbs up to recognise the effort I had put in.

Not really been owned by anything that shouldn't have beat me - been owned by a few here and there that more than should have though, so no disgrace.

Best result - skooshed part an evo 6 on the way to knockhill. What made it my best was the fact my clutch gave up 3 seconds before and I passed him in neutral

Worst result - Was horsed by a s3 when I had my uk97. Turns out the guy had tuned the t1tt!es off it though.

worst ever coming out Strathy Park, must be around 10 years ago,in my Evo 5 almost topped out and lights gaining rapidly,a famous nova J20NOV coming alongside and then selecting 6th gear and leaving me for dust. The good old 10pm run, does anybody remember the races back in towards Glasgow!

Best: There have been quite a few, most recent one that I was happy with was an 08-plate White Lambo Gallardo off a set of traffic lights... kept up with him and his nice looking female passenger all the way to the legal limit :P before I let off and laughed my way all the way back into town.

Worst: Dark Blue Clio in my Blue MY98 Wagon... the guy was ALL over the back of my car on some random twisty b-road near the border on the way home from a Scottish Scoobies run, pulled out to pass on a couple of occasions but I had the legs on him on the straights. I later went a bit balls to the wall and passed Zeolite so that he could take one for the team and get hassled by the Clio. :P

Cheers,

Best - Porsche Cayman, Could easily keep up with it at "sensible" speeds :P

Worst - Rover 75.. On a newly resurfaced road overtaking me and splattering me with stones :P

Really shouldn't admit to either of those... :P

Oh yes.

I used to do not too bad with my astra gte :P in the early 90's but will never forget the night I took my old mans e30 325i. I nearly wrote the thing off on every corner with wild oversteer. It was my first time with a rwd car.

I think this is the son of the owner of the wood group who has this lambo...

In my younger days :P

Funniest : Many years ago...sitting on (think) my ZXR400 at a set of traffic lights (which led out on to national limit before anyone thinks this was in town) when a Vauxhall Nova with 4 even younger boys pulls up along side. The driver completely seriously says "so you think you could take this". Me with visor down (and tinted) cooly says nothing, clicks in to gear and revs a little to the rather girly excitement of the Nova passengers. Thought I'd toy a little - let him off the lights first, kept just behind/at side of him (the boys inside really thought they were winning), gradually pulled up along side the drivers window, looked over, waved (he genuinely seemed surprised I kept up) and pulled back full throttle - bye ! Got off the bike a mile down the road before they drove passed for a wave...think passengers were still laughing at the driver !!

Worst : My Civic Type-R getting beaten by, what I later found out to likely be though, a Corsa with a 2.0l lump in it. The guy was driving like a man with a death wish though with some extra stupid manouvers so didn't join in.

Worst outcome : A71 Strathaven to Kilmarnock. Me in Calibra V6 and company car man in either Cavalier or Vectra. Spirited drive along the straights and through the twists, he's right up my boot, in to traffic and he pulls out to have a look at overtaking on a bend, not seeing the oncoming traffic the side of his car gets scraped big time by car in other direction. Stopped to see he was okay, he was about 50 and rather embarrassed looking.

Best.....M77 Aston DB9 Vantage....man was this Aston wide looking or what.Guy in Aston was tailing me from Glasgow to M77 in traffic but as traffic moved over i select 4th foot to floor and 2.1 bar and Aston was left behind until the next traffic back us up.It was like this for the next few traffic queues.I then let the Aston passed me on M77 where it opens up to 3 lanes.

Worst.....Red Micra on Crail..lol

But now...there isn't alot that will pass me now (i wonder why!)be it on Crail or road unless it was a better driver that is doing the bis.

Best........... was on the A71 from west calder to lizzie brice roundabout up agaist a R6 and i was driving my 322bhp corsa i built a few years ago now (they were the days). He was up my tail like no1's business. He pulled alone beside me a looked and laffed straight at me :P

Needless to say at lizzie brice he wasnt to impressed by the time he got to the rounabout. i did however stop for him to catch up and he did have the courage to stop and pull me over for a small chat. :D

Worst....... and they funny thing was it was in my first scooby the day i got it. I got smoked by a 2.0 corsa :D

:P:P:D

Best - Outdragged a Ferrari 355 out the hairpin and up the straight at Knockhill in my pretty much standard at the time old Wagon, it was pouring with rain though and he was sliding about all over the place!

Worst - Being passed and not being able to keep up with a wreck of a renault clio with 3 neds onboard on a twisty road near Kirkcaldy in my at the time 300BHP wagon, I didnt know the road unlike him and he was driving like he was late for his funeral!

best would have to be the porche GT on the M3 to portsmouth, he could have had me but really didnt push it hard enough!!

worst was ford puma my friend was driving, (and she is a nutcase) and my headers were leaking BADLY!! pulled from me and even had the cheek to say 'i slowed down as you werent keeping up!!!'

:P

One of those sport Clio's did that to me once... its amazing the advantage knowing the roads can give you. But he started in front so I didn't feel too bad about it :P

Havent met anything in the Impreza, only owned it a few months and dont drive it everyday. Actually saying that, a Clio Cup wasnt too bad, wasnt as fast.

Worst - In my old Escort GTi, had to rag the tits off it to keep up with a new Fiat Panda 100hp Sport thingi. Gave me a very good run for my money!! :P

When i was a "young un" (at least 30 years ago!!) I had a Mini with a stonking 1300 MG engine in it and thought i was the man. Raced a mate of mine between Mintlaw and Old Deer (In the sticks in Aberdeenshire) in the pi**ing rain and was just keeping in front of him 'till I ran through this HUGE puddle. As there was no rubber gaitor around the gear lever the water came into the car through the hole in the floor with the power of a fire hose or "old Faithfull" at Yellowstone, hit the roof of the car and soaked us all and scared the brown stuff outa me!!

Recently got whooped in my RB320 by a guy in a green W reg Wagon on the Newburgh to Cruden Bay road - left me for dead.............
