jcscoob Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Right folks the P1 is needing some new rubber, so wot i am thinking is Toyo proxy4's or t1r/s's or yokohama prada spec2's has anyone got/using proxy4's or prada spec2's. i am a wee bit of a yokohama fan, but just not sure where to spend the wise old pennys ???
braveheart Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Hi mate i just bought Yokahamas Parada spec 2 on 215/35/18s on Oz super T just been on the car for 2 weeks and to be honest they are the best tyre i have had on my car and i have had Toyos befoe im a yokahama fan also so might be a bit biest...Toyos are great tyers also I got mines from Skidz in falkirk for a good price give them a bell if your interested..
st3ph3n Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 JC - The goodyear Eagle F1s. As that old marketing statement went - if you can find a better tyre for the money, then you buy it. Wet and dry performance is fantastic.
johnnyr6 Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Got T1r's myself and they are crap, really upset the handling but after talking to a few chassis tuners i've got a good compromise (ended up with an extra 4psi in each tyre) but wouldn't buy them again. R888's maybe next time. Johnny

John How about Michelin Piolit sport 2's I got them from Black circles for £97.00 per corner and i cant belive the grip levill. Higgy
ton246 Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Got Prada 2's on mine, great tyre and for less than £60 each you cant get a better tyre for the money.
the_ex_leper Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 got yoko's for my civic £26 each 195/50/15 from tyretraders.com i like them
phil_g Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Got Prada 2's on mine, good in the wet. If youve been in Fort William you know what I mean, it pisses all the time
RA Dunk Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 not overly impressed with the toyo`s myself, will be looking to go with the prada`s next
JohnSt Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Got T1r's myself and they are crapJohnny Bollocks, and you can't compare a T1R to R888, that's just silly
johnnyr6 Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Bollocks, and you can't compare a T1R to R888, that's just silly lol.. thats me, i know some people like them but i also know loads who hate them, myself and coulty to name 2. John F. experienced similar problems and seems to think it may be the tyres moving on the rim, so it may differ depending on the wheels you use. It certainly upset my car especially on initial turn in which is very vague and the car feels like it's foating. Johnny

jcscoob Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 Ok, i think i would rather have the yokohams over the toyo's as i had a set or A539's on the goblin and found them very good changed to toyos and hated them. now on fleybay i can get these to my door for .... 4 x pradas - 205/45/17 = £346 .. but .... 4 x pradas - 215/40/17 = £259 .. WTF, you would think the smaller tyre would be cheeper ! What do the masses think about changing tyre size ? BTW its the 205's a standard.
des_curran Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 JohnHow about Michelin Piolit sport 2's I got them from Black circles for £97.00 per corner and i cant belive the grip levill. Higgy I'm running Michelin PS2's 235/40/18 extra load, and like Higgy said the grip level is fantastic, not the cheapest though at £160 a tyre from Black circles. I've tried Toyo's T1-R and S, Dunlop sport maxx, Goodyear F1 GSD3 , Bridgestone REO50, Pirelli Pzero's and the Michelin has been the best yet.
frank c Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 I'm interested to see what tyre you opt for Jon.. I need a set myself for the new toy. Already tried the F1's and T1R's and can't say i was overly impressed with either, time for a change. Let me know how you get on bud.
barry_shepherd Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Really can't say a bad word about the F1s JC. Awesome in the wet and the dry. Cheers, Shep
RA Dunk Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 (edited) ok when i put my T1R`s on a after few months i kerbed one of my wheels and ended up replacing one of the tyres, i couldent get a T1R at short notice and ended up putting a prada spec II to replace it, ive just had the wheels off the car and the prada is in much better condition than the toyos, considering the tyres have been on almost the same lenght of time done practically the same milage had the same abuse on track etc its been a pretty good comparison between them and i know which im going to be going for next and it aint the toyos Edited April 19, 2008 by Ac!D
euan_r Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 (edited) nice to know dunc as ive gone through a set faster than i though. will be looking for yokos as well i think. Edited April 19, 2008 by euan_r
scouk Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 FYI - I've found this site quite useful... Not sure how accurate the reviews are but nice to get an idea how well certain tyres compare to others in the same field: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/index.jsp Unsurprisingly my Bridgestone RE050's are marked as Max Summer Performance without a winter rating... That'll be why they are evil in the snow then! Definately getting a decent winter set for next year!
jcscoob Posted April 19, 2008 Author Posted April 19, 2008 good post Dunc, Right im deffo going for pradas, just dont know wither to get (original size) .... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/205-45-17-WR-YOKOHAM...Q2em118Q2el1247 or alter the size to this and gain a smidge of grip and save nearly 100 quid ...... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/215-40-17-YOKOHAMA-P...bayphotohosting Need opinions please
euan_r Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 i though it was 215/45/17 or 215/40/17 when upscaling from 16" on a classic. might go down from 215/45/17 to 215/40/17 myself as might get rid of std springs later on this year.
frank c Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 (edited) I got my last set from here Jon......they delivered them in a couple of days.. Probably not as cheap as ebay right enough... http://www.tyretraders.com/SearchType/Defa...cturer=YOKOHAMA Edited April 20, 2008 by Frank C
jcscoob Posted April 20, 2008 Author Posted April 20, 2008 There is just a baw hair in it Frank, cheers for the link I think im gonna have to go for the 215/40's
frank c Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 I had the 40 profile on my last car Jon and can't decide whether to go for the 45's this time round.... just a wee bit more comfort and will probably fill the gap in the arches a tad... Decisions decisions......................
johnnyr6 Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 I've been running 40 profile for years now with no issues. Johnny.
