the squiggle Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 New JDM STI trounces old STI and both new and old EVO's Starting from the back, posting a best lap a full second quicker than the rest of the field and Keiichi starts to show boat to amuse himself
ANDYJDMSTI Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Very nice........good bit of showboating too!
thefastone Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 impressive video Grant... I admit that I am the first on the bandwagon to slag the new one off, but then I have my reasons, which I standby, fair dos though, Evos are poop, that's proven, and that's an impressive run by the new car...
cullenmin Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Well done, eventually a congratulations to subaru for the ugly duckling!
nkwrx Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Impressive performance Grant, no doubt about that. Still got a face worthy of the Bash St Kids tho!
scouk Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Nice result! But I cant help think it was maybe a little too set-up.. Ok the Impreza would beat an evo in a straight line or really high speed kinks but the evo's shouldnt have been understeering as much as that (same as Impreza by the look of it) in the bends. Did they have the center diff set for tarmac properly? Don't get me wrong I love the fact the Impreza is getting a good result! The a*** end is ugly as Flip we know that but I do like the front. The new STi is soundling like a good machine, but just how good? The EvoX was supposed to be much better than the old EvoIX but here it isn't.. I'm skeptical about the truths of the video but nice all the same.. (also according to the youtube comments the driver of the new STi is very good which would help) But I do like the 6,000rpm -> 8,000rpm driving! WooT! never take my WRX above 5.5k if I can help it don't want it goign bang on me.. Anyway, I eagerly await Tiff's verdict on the car when he gets his grubby hands on it...

4Hero Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 goes like stink looks like $hite will I be buying one hell no The hawkaye done not too bad though, phew

dipsy Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 (edited) I stuck this in car video clip's yesterday did not think any body would be intrested in the new model Sti and cough cough it's two Jdm sti's .Me likes the performance of the new sti Edited January 7, 2008 by Dipsy
dipsy Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 There a bit in Jap performance magazine about the new uk Sti Prodrive performance pack going to be as much as 400bhp i wonder what that will cost

nanaki Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 i wouldn't actually be surprised if prodrive started to offer different levels of tuning in the performance pack. one at say 350/360 and another at 400. There is defiantly enough demand for that kind of power and to be manufacturer backed would please a lot of people and insurance companies.

That is a strong possibility.. There were rumors of two different PPP levels being available for the Hawkeye (Stage 1 and stage 2... WHich is consfusing and If you search the net you come across the US Stages 1,2 & 3.. The US Stage 2 is more like the UK Stage 1 or standard PPP) but it never surfaced so wouldn't surprise me if there will be two seperate PPP packages in the future! Hopefully there will be.. 400bhp woudl be nice and is achieveable from the 2.5l
st3ph3n Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/05/evo-x-v...kuba-lap-times/ Wee bit more info there about a different test. Seems that they've done an audi and - as clarkson says - put the engine in front of the headlights. Be interesting to see times when the variants arrive - spec c, mr whatever etc. etc.
colzo Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 There`s no doubt the new STI goes and handles well, just the looks I`m not convinced on. Certain colours make the car look good others don`t. Still prefer the EVO 9s looks compared to the 10s though. Would like to see what Prodrive Packs and accessories are offered.
oobster Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 There is a nice one over on NASOIC - different front grille, front splitter and red rear light clusters. Looks good. Harman Motive - http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1407471
scouk Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 ^^^ That looks more like a focus than any other photo I've seen of it.
jamesm Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I must admit that I like that. The red lights on that white one work really well. I spent quite some time staring at the rear end of a new base model Impreza heading south on the A77 on Hogmanay, and I didn't think it looked as bad as in the pictures. Still looking forward to seeing the STI for real but there more I see it in pictures, the more it grows on me. With the right grille, splitter, spoiler, wheels etc, and in a dark colour all polished up, I think it could look the dogs danglies.
thefastone Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 thing is about those rear lights is that you wont get them in the uk, remembering that they dont have orange indecators... their indecators are red over there are they not?

Yes, they were. Becasue the brake light doubled as the indicator. That said though, I have seen lots of cars with the orange-style dedicated indicators too.

On the new STI i think the clear bulb is the indicator and the Red is the combined Brake/Sidelights The combined Red Brake/Indicator is the U.S market
micra_wrc Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 i still like the look of the STi hatchback plus, with the bonnet scoop embedded into the bonnet i might not need to use a booster cushion anymore!
