Judging by the video you weren't the only one in the carpark and I am sure you weren't the only one playing in your car. Its the negative attention it draws to the marque that people are not happy with. Scottish Scoobies was probably not the best place to post, outside the towns and city - where yes we do obey the speed limit (has happened on every meet and run I've been on) - we have one big playground, its called Scotland with some of the best scenery and roads you will find. This is a community to enjoy the car for what it is, an amazing driving machine, not to show off doing stupid stunts.

Fair comment mate, with being brought up in Scotland on a farm for 14 yrs and a few family members being involved in the scottish rally scene i do have a good understanding of whats driving like an idiot and what is having some fun... Iam sorry if i have offended all you good scottish citizens but to be honest thats one of the reasons of leaving Scotland we seem to be a nation of moaners!!!
dougster Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Anyone seen the McRaes drive recently............

As the Proverbs says "A rebuke goes deeper into one who has sense, than a hundred blows into a foolish man." You have shown that you do therefore have sense, and with it a sign of maturity, well done. Give your car and its followers a little more respect, owning and and driving a car like that comes with responsibility.
ScoobySounds Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 i've never tried.. but i would love to.. If I had a bit of privite land and four new tyres I think it would be hella fun to try some stuff out, also useful from the point of view of finding the cars (or mine) limits, of which I have no clue under the law. sureley there must be a time and a place to try this stuff out, with the police fully aware bla bla. Like power slides.. for example.. i am intrigued, but where on earth can I try them? nowhere. someone should open up a runway somwhere and invite people to ddrive their cars like idiots in an organased fasion.

Crail & Knockhill. Knockhill has a skidpan so you can do all that stuff as well. You're right though, it would be cool to have some private land to at least take the car to its maximum speed, even if its for only once in its life time! So, anyone own an disused airstrip or anything?

I know of one where we used to take the cars for a spin it was at the back of my old farm.It was a disused airfield where we spent many hours having a laugh infact this is where i drove my first car a mk 1 mexico bought it for £20 used it to tear about the farm in it.Not sure if its being used for anything now as ive been away for 20 odd yrs its just outside a place called Kirknewton the old Richie camp airfield. Just googled it still looks disused... http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=e...p;z=16&om=1 My old farm is in the top left corner of the airfield Edited September 14, 2007 by scottstiprodrive
colin_ross Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Well I'm afraid I can't say anything as I've done it to. It was a crail but not exactly in a designated area. I take it all the guys who've done similar in a snow covered car park are not going to have a pop at the guy are they?

Near were I live, the local golf course has a car park, quite small, and it had a temporary surface, gravel and the like. I had a rubbing sound, so I put the car on full lock and drove round in circles to feel it out. I had track-wheels on, so I gave it a bit more stick, and felt the car sliding, it was fun, but I was much too feert to attempt anything else other than that! I remember Corsa posting a video of him giving it yahoo on a beach near his holiday home and no one lambasted him for that.

The Airfiled is not disused. There is an Air Training Corps gliding school who use it every weekend and have done so for many many years, there is also a small flying club who use it most days. Richie camp no longer exists, it was knocked down and cleared. The land now has £million+ luxury homes on it.
