  1. Yeah if thats ok Iain, I'll bring both sets around one night, see if its the same as your setup?
  2. Did you have the same issue Iain? where the new lights had a solid bar rather than threaded?
  3. Thanks Myles, I'll drop Iain a wee line see what setup he had on his. My original lights had the threaded bar, the new ones have a wider solid bar and must be threaded further into the cluster itself, bit I cant see without taking it apart
  4. I get around 180 to 200 in a half tank of V power, on a 98 UK turbo with a few mods and Simtek ECU
  5. Hi Mark, I was looking to reduce the level of unwanted/extra air going into the air intake, compared to just purely having outside air. Even though, as I understand it, the canister is designed to remove deposits and vapours from the tank and reinsert them and then reburn them, it wont get rid of them all. Why would you want to contaminate good clean, colder air with these reconstituted 'extras', as such, as the ecu then has fuel correspondingly to get a decent output measured at the O2 sensor. As the purging is done on overrun then the ecu will fuel at the same rate/level and there will a tad extra air in the system, thats how I understand it. The current O2 sensor is only narrowband so probably less accurate than a wideband sensor for seeing these minor differences and hence slower in time to react perhaps. If this is the case and the ecu cant react quick enough to change the fuelling, does this mean its going to run a little lean at these times? My other reason was that I need some space for some extra cold air feeds, if there comes a point where the fumes are causing concern I will probably reconnect the tank output back to the canister but again vent to atmos, the canister would have done its job by then? Cheers, Col
  6. Nah, no going back now its all packed away for a rainyday I have the existing two way valve in place and a small fuel filter inline and then vented under the rear of the engine bay...I'll have to watch out for funny whiffs appearing just dont drive too close behind me
  7. Yay at last I got me some of them crystal headlights yesterday, finally got them out of the box today. After a bit of head scratching to figure out how to swap over headlamp adjuster motor it appears that the old wormgear drive is not the same as the new headlights That will teach me to rush into things, the ebay shop description didn't mention that they were manual or motor driven, my fault or assuming. It's probably a good thing in hindsight, saves my from twiddling the knobs when I'm driving and one less bit of electrics to go wrong and more space to put extra things in its place later on

Lol 'grockle' not heard that term in ages, I spent a few years down there before I joined the farces
  10. Oh poo, I cant make the 5th, I'll be down in Malmesbury sweating my cobblers off on the 1st of my TKD exams, sorry
  11. It's such a pain when you are forced to upgrade the car will you be getting a RR graph to show the final power after all the work is done? It would be good to see the final figures with all this 'forced' work being done Nice and clean engine bay too, even shinier with a sparkly new turbo

Aye its going to be a struggle, the roads north of Barnstaple to Ilfracombe and beyond to Lynton/Lynmouth are really twisty and hilly, oh what am I going to do

Those sound like good times, pity about the weather tho' We're renting a wee place just outside of Bideford town centre by the water. We stayed a bit further south last year and was a bit off the beaten track so no drinkies for me however that was then The bad news is I have to take my car rather than the wifes, so I have all those twisty devon roads all to myself
  14. Aye sounds groovy, big logistical task

Sounds like a great weekend was had, mine was full of diy and getting stuff for the house before I go away on me hol's next week to sunny Devon. Was Iain running that day?
  16. Finally removed the carbon canister from the car last night and rerouted the myriad of hoses and one way valves. I've spent ages trying to research how the system works and was finally confident enough to take the useless item out. It's probably the placebo effect but the car felt like it was running smoother on the run in to work and so far no fumes to be noticed in the cabin

    How was USC ?
  18. Thats a damn good job done there, after all that time detailing it, it seems a shame to drive it and get it dirty again Cheers, Col
  19. Ah cool Matty, I'll bear that in mind for my next set of purchases
  20. Hi Guys, I've finally found a pretty cheap Cable Tie Tensioner and cutter for when working on and securing wrapping on exhausts and manifolds. Compared to others that are over the 70/80 quid price its a bargain. If you want to have a borrow anytime gimme a shout. Cheers, Col
  21. Hehe, I know the feeling, too much to do and not enough time to do it in
  22. Thanks chaps , it's taken ages to get all the bits in place and get it on. I have some JDM mud flaps to go on, I was thinking about putting some big black flappy mud flaps on behind them just to add a bit of extra protection, dunno if it will look at bit weird tho. I have seen a few cars on here with two set of flaps
  23. Hide in the garage, oh happy days - the garage is my second home
