  1. Where/how do I get rid of the centre section then? Is it gonna cost much? OFF TOPIC: Hows the A4 coming along? Thinking of getting mine in for a bit of chipping. Its either Star Performance or A4Audi. Naturally, it would be intended to improve the fuel economy in this time of high oil prices
  2. Sad to admit that a weekend on the McRae Gathering has given me the bug. Standing at the static displays listening to the cars streaming in was like listen to distant rumbling thunder for 3 hours. Standing in the worlds biggest traffic jam was also sonically spectacular. I WANT MORE BURBLE !!! SO ... HOW DO I GET MORE BURBLE? Running a 2005 WRX with PPP. Don't have a big budget, so full exhaust systems are probably out of the question !!! Don't want an ASBO. Just want a deeper, rumblier baseline !!! (Truth be told, I want more horses, torques, brakes and suspension too ... but you have to start somewhere)
  3. Full vid should be on here soon enough ... http://demand.five.tv/Series.aspx?seriesBaseName=FifthGear

  9. Deed done, paint applied, wee bit of polishing tomorrow. WR Blue Metallic is indeed 02C. £7.99 for a 100ml bottle from Halfords. Mixed while U wait in about 5 mins. Thanks for the advice.
  10. thanks for the tips, will look tomorrow am. 02C sounds familiar now that you mention it.
  11. paint code - I guess thats on a plate under the bonnet, or a sticker in the service manual? Will get on it tomorrow. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.
  12. thanks, I'll look into it. Do they make it up in store, or is it a special order job?
  13. Anyone know where I can get a WR Blue touch up brush at short notice? I've got two wee scratches (to metal) that would benefit from a temporary fix ahead of next weekend. Halfrauds (spelling?) don't seem to do Subaru. Thanks in advance ...
  14. Imy, next time you have a negative thought, just imagine what your going to feel like when 1, then 2, then 3, then ... a couple of hundred scoobies rumble through Lanark. Imagine again if you will, a few hundred scoobies rumbling into Charnock Richards ... then Banbury, then Warwick. Then think ... I helped put this together and What you guys have done is simply amazing. So amazing that it'll be immortalised as a world record - unlikely to be broken IMHO !! A great tribute to a great man all in aid of some great charities organised by some great folks.
  15. Oh, and smoke the windows ASAP
  16. Jammy sod, drooled over that very one on tuesday. I've nipping at the wife ever since. I'd never seen the 2008 in black, has a lot of presence about it. Did you get the five spoke 18's? Apparently, 9 out 10 new buyers get the 18s over the standard 17s. My 05 WRX is 3 years old in 6 weeks ... help me, tell me I don't actually need a new one !!!
  17. Sorry mate, I see Amen and 'disrespect' in the same post and it brings up my own criticisms !!! Help me, I'm hearing voices again
  18. No disrespect taken, but as I've got one of each I'm not particularly sensitive to your harsh criticism. Cal, top tip from a time served owner: get it serviced at an independent. Labour rates at main dealers are marginally higher than normal garages, about double !!! I had to get a new clutch on mine a year ago. Clutch replacement at dealer was quoted at £750. Independent changed the clutch and flywheel for £750 - flywheel alone was around £400. From the pic, it looks like an FWD, so have fun with the ESP . I'm sure the flashing yellow light on the dashboard will become a familiar friend as the torque spins the fronts on every fast exit !!!
  19. Thanks for the input. Based on comments thus far, it looks like I'll be off for fast road settings Guess I should also be doing aluminum drop-links and springs whilst I'm at it ?!? But as I've got creaky dampers so its off to the dealer to get them checked out first. Should I get the prodrive springs whilst I'm there or something else?
  20. 555 was a decent, respectable number. Mods should remove image 556 for unscooby like conduct.
  21. that there are 555 images in the members gallery?
  22. My front left tyres keep wearing out around the outer edge. I wouldn't mind so much but the rears are OEM and have done 25k miles (must be a record for a Scooby?) yet this will be my third front left. I have had the tracking checked and adjusted twice (once by dealer, once by independent) yet the same thing keeps happening. (beginning to think I've got FWD instead of 4WD!!!) I'm guessing its roundabout and power-steering related, but as most of my driving is around local roads - short & twisty roundabout type runs, should I get a fast road setting rather than the stock settings. Will this alleviate the problem? This might be the point where y'all tell me the tyre wear can only be fixed by starting my modifying career with lowering springs
  23. You can see it on the BBC iPlayer anytime you like http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer EDIT: Oops, just read westra's iPlayer link (apols)
  24. An extract of slang uses of "Shake n Bake" taken from Wikipedia ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shake_%27n_Bake Not sure if any of them are relevant as they refer to bumpy suspension, heavily modified vehicles & fake tans 1. In the safari industry, a "shake and bake" is a slang term for the heavily modified open-topped vehicles (usually Land Cruisers or Land Rovers) as those riding in the vehicle are shaken by the bumpy roads and "baked" by the sun. 2. In the 2006 film Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Cal Naughton, Jr. and Ricky Bobby are known, respectively, as "Shake and Bake" on the NASCAR circuit. Naughton, Jr. says in the film that the nickname is "awesome", because shake and bake "rhyme" and "they're both verbs." 3. It's also a term used when people spray on a tan, they "shake" the bottle and then look "baked" from the sun after they have been sprayed. Fake tans are also referred to as "Fake 'n Bake."
  25. Could always arrange for the blue Scottish Scoobies to sport a General Lee style roof sticker en route - in a Saltire style of course. Its a thought ... General Scoobeeeeee - hmm can I trademark that????
