  1. Maybe T1-Rs work on classic 16"s so people recommend them but not on 17/18"s where they get slated.

I think it's more that people react differently to the way a tyre moves. Some people prefer a softer tyre that moves a bit more before it loses grip, others prefer something that sticks like glue but when it starts sliding it starts going quickly IYKWIM.

FWIW it was 235/35/19 T1Rs that I had and liked, although they were part worn when I got them so not sure how they would have felt when brand new.

  2. Would it be more down to the profile size, 225/40 down to 215/35 is quite a big change?

My boss has 35 profile tyres on his Civic Type R, loves the looks but hates the drivng, too light on the steering wheel, skittish, just no confidence, think he wishes he stuck with the OEM wheel / tyre setup.

Got 35 profile tyres on mine (235/35/19) and they are better riding than the original 225/45/17s. Less tramlining and less road noise than the RE070s.

  3. Funny what people get used to. I went the other way, had Toyo T1R's and swapped to Eagle F1's. I was the same as you... hated the new tyres, although after about a thousand miles I'm pretty much used to the F1s now and do quite like them.

Think it was only the likes of Bridgestones that I liked the moment they were on the car without needing a bedding in period.

  4. PMSL, I think even he said it was special :P

good to know the packaging has held and remained intact through the postal system

oh, i've stopped doing the blue ribbon thing,

its too much faffing around and it added an extra 4 mins to the wrapping-time.... which adds up when I've got another 400 odd tubes to wrap :D

I reckon the first 50 odd orders got the special touch, that is until I ran out of ribbon lol

this was the link that someone posted re picture frames

Woohoo... not only managed to get a limited print, but managed to get the limited packaging too :P

Very much appreciated though... even one of the women at work I showed it too appreciated it (and that was before I unwrapped it :P)

  5. Someone posted a link to a place online where you could get a frame made up to suit for about £36 I think (may be in the scottish scoobies thread about this). Had planned on taking mine (pus sizes) to a local place though, 'cos I thought it might look better with a mount as well as a frame (ie certain thickness of card around the pic, then frame around that) which would be hard to guesstimate easily... would be easier done at a frame place.

Depending on costs, etc I'd probably just get it done there... if they were going to be OTT then I'd make sure I knew the size I wanted and size of mount so I could then order it online IYKWIM :D

  6. dinnae panic, we're still processing these

in all the excitement of making them avail for sale we forgot to say to allow 28 days for delivery :P

Grant and I need to securely pack each Print individually and then take batches to the Post Office to post.

Their new system needs to scan each barcode and punch in the postcode for each item and takes ages to administer.

The packing process has started and the first batch was posted yesterday.

We will also update your order status in the shop and send you an email notification that your print has been shipped and to look out for it arriving next day before 1pm.

thanks for your patience, we are working on this when we come in after our day jobs, and are spending our nights and weekends to get these out to you.

    cheers,

    Imy

    Mine arrived today :D:P

Liked the little touch around the bubblewrap... I assume that's by your hand and not Grants (unless he's showing his feminine touch :P)

  7. Ok, never expected it to be great, but even the kids are now complaining that humpty dumpty can't be heard clearly and no longer has a dropping bass line!!!! Kids these days eh!

Anyway, is it worth getting a later style head unit (i have a 2000my bugeye) or are they the same, and what speakers can i use tio upgrade the original ones?? Not looking for earth shaking sounds despite what the kids want, but i would like to at least be able to enjoy my CD's!

Dunno how bad yours is but the dual din one in the 06 STi is crap... no bass, etc from mine either. Would have thought that a decent aftermarket one would be a lot better than any of the scooby ones, new or old.

  8. cheers guys, was just thinking that i can easily swap them out myself but at my work we only do laser alignment on the BMWs and our tracking sticks are no-where to be seen at the moment so would need to take it somewhere, just probably won't be able to do it the same day!!

p.s. ianc - my old tyres had worn slightly more on the inside edge with this standard setup!

By worn more on the inside I mean that there looked to be plenty tread on the tyre on the outside... and just about canvas showing on the inside :D

HUGE issue (had I been keeping the car ;))

  9. Most people just don't know how to drive or don't have any road sense what so ever in this country. Using mobiles, fog lamps on when not needed, not using indicators etc., etc. I definitely think re-sitting the driving test every 10 years has got to be a good thing. Too many numpties on the road with bad habits.

    Yup... :D

While I can't claim to be the worlds best driver ('cos I'm too modest ;)) there are too many people that I see on the roads that who've obviously cut their licence out from the back of a cornflakes packet.

  10. Set it all to zero Mick on the wee marks on the struts then get it done properly. It will drive but it may wear the tyres if you dont get it done like Iain has said. Have touched goats with you!

I guess at the end of the day you could bolt in struts made of wood or plastic and it'd still drive... but regardless of what I actually changed the suspension for now, I'd get the geometry checked just in case.

  11. if i was to fit p1 complete struts and springs to my 98 would the geometry be far out? i.e could it be driven.

i only ask because i can fit but cannot allign the suspension.

    mick

Would imagine it would easily be drivable... although I'd suggest you check it out properly elsewhere as soon as you can. AFAIK when the P1 suspension was fitted to my old 94 the place fitting it didn't do geometery as such (which would explain when I traded it in a year or so later the tyres were WELL worn on the inside edge).

  12. Damn shame the dealer went out of Forres.. Closest one is is now over an hour away - tell me about it ,i went shopping with the missus on sunday to Inverness and thought i'd take a run through to Aird motors in Beauly only to find they were 'closed' :occasion14:

aye... I'd planned on using them as and when the STi was out of warranty... would probably have started to use them now seeing as T&C are now a service only subaru dealer and it'd be a hell of a lot easier using the one in Forres (normally got the old wagon done there when I was at my folks )

  13. THe place has some mixed opinions from some of our local guys but I've never had any problems with them.. Been there twice for geometry set-up and once for tyre fitting.. Good service and guy is really nice to speak to.. Knows his stuff.. But in fairness he does try steer you away from settings too far away from standard..

Last time I was there the younger guys just kept back and drooled over the car

P.s. Reekies Is the place at the other end of the Ind. estate.. Almost like a Mini Halfords with slightly more specialised stuff.. Not been too fond of their prices though the couple of times I've been in for a browse.. :occasion14: Depends what your looking for I guess..

Ummm no, Reekies was the other name for John Gray and Son, who were the subaru dealer (ex dealer) right next door to GT Tyres... currently a building site for god knows what (last time I passed thru' anyway.)

  14. Phoned them this morning as i thought my geometry needed checked, they slotted me in straight away, went up and spoke to Paul and got the car set-up.Excellent service and really helpful bunch of guys - would recommend them to anyone in the area :occasion14:

Yup, have used them a number of times when I was up there (esp when Reekies was next door).
