  1. I'm sure it was IainC in his hawkeye,got a wave anyway,also past a black Blobeye Sti at dyce and he waved as well. :(

    Wave at any scoobs that pass... don't always get a wave back though. Started waving at the guy in the black STi that I pass every morning on my way to work, and after a day or two he started waving back :D

    What goes around comes around, sooner or later, She'll be found out, and your hard work will pay off, just bide your time for now, but I'd perhaps consider taking it further if it happens again...

    I'd be inclined to mention to one (or more) of your mates at work about it. Last thing you want is it have happened to all of you and you are all biting your tongue about it (individually).

    Certainly though, if you are never likely to work together anymore, then I'd probably not bother making too much of a fuss about it. If you were ever asked to work with her again though I'd make it clear up front that you didn't want to, as "last time" she took the p*ss too much and lazed about while you did all the work.

    Oh, and I wouldn't hide an old dead fish somewhere about her desk either... that would just be wrong... honest :wub:

  3. I was in Moscow a year or two back, and when we arrived they were digging up one of the roads outside the place we were staying. Despite the fact they ripped it down to the sub base level, it was kept open the whole time, and before we left the road was fully repaired and lined, etc. The road must have been 3 lanes wide in each direction and they had done half a mile to a mile of it.

    Made a mockery of the time it seems to take us in this country to get it done.

  4. Yup, roads around my work are h*ll to navigate... I'd say there was almost no chance of driving about it without hitting at least one. Killed a tyre just the other week hitting one as well (I hate having to replace a fairly new tyre). The potholes in the roads around here were like that BEFORE the cold weather. IMO it has more to do with lack of maintenance than the "cold weather excuse".

  5. Would be worth making marks on either side of the crack, to see if it's getting bigger or not. I did the same on an office wall after we noticed a huge crack in the wall... it's never moved since... the marks are still exactly the same distance apart as they were (and the length of the crack isn't any longer either).

    If it's getting bigger then definitely get someone in to look at it, if it's staying the same over a long time then personally I'd not worry about it too much.

  6. Left the office around 2pm 'cos it was well dingin' it down... joined a long queue of cars. Ended up taking a back road along with a few other 4x4 owners only to find some 2wd motors stuck blocking the road further up it. Had to keep helping them get moving then drive up behind them again, push, move, push, move, etc. Ended up taking me a good 2hrs plus to drive about 20miles... most of which was spent driving less than 5 miles TBH... the end of the journey was fine.

    Scoob behaved well in the snow and ice, splitter was almost at snow level on a lot of it but still looks attached :brickwall:

  7. We got quite a bit of snow the other night and thats on the coast so inland a wee bit towards keith and huntly is always worse than the coast.

    Did anyone see the news last night where the news lady got snowballed live on air :brickwall:

    Schools were closed yesterday in Moray, lots of folk couldnt get to work etc. Seems to be better today though, main roads are clear

    Theres been plenty here, but it's surprised me how little snow it's taken to cause so many issues... schools seem to close the moment there is a threat of snow at all. Our daughters school was shut yesterday meaning I had to work at home, although based on the time it seemed to be taking anyone getting into Dyce, I'm quite glad of that... it's a nightmare to get in/out of at the best of times so a couple of hours sitting in traffic would have sent me round the twist I think.

    Roads are fine today though, back roads are still icy, but easily passable, although it seems to be doing it's best to cover them up again atm B)

    Bear in mind if you move house and notify them you'll get a photo card then... hence the reason I have one now as well :crying:

    Surely you'd want a different turbo to that if you were swapping though. I mean you are only going to get an additional 50-odd bhp over what you have at the moment, whereas you'd make a good chunk more with one of the upgraded ones that the STi owners go for.

  10. I've throught about it for years, but never done it!.. Spoke to my local guy about gettign a group buy for a group of Scooby Drivers, but strangely wasn't interested :D Price was £65 IIRC (IAM members get a discount of 15%.. "allegedly".. apparently he changed his mind all the time as to whether or not that discount exists).. Used to be half that a few years ago when it first started!! Guy wasn't interested in giving any sort of group discount for SIDC, and very difficult to get a hold of.. Rarely returned calls (only once) then when I did get speaking to him, I got the distinct impression he had better things to do than speak to me about it.. :o

    Been tempted to give the Accidont people a call though.

    Hmmm... he doesn't sound so good.

    Would be interested if you did get something organised in Moray though. I take it nowt's come of the airfield "project" yet?

  11. Did an Accidont course at the AECC in Aberdeen quite a few years back. IIRC JohnS managed to get a deal on it somehow... had something to do with a local charity IIRC.

    There was a bit of braking with/without ABS (as mentioned, in something like a Vectra), some more training in a similar car on a trolley type thing, so they could increase/decrease how "slippy" it was. There were a few other things added in that day too (blindfold driving, reversing with a trailer without mirrors, etc) but it culminated in a slalom type course that was laid out. Object was to get round it without hitting anything but as quickly as possible (time added for anything hit)... first couple of people out took it nice and slow and made sure they didn't hit anything, 3rd or 4th person out went at it like a maniac... looked so much fun doing it their way everyone else did the same. The nice slow driving made way for the car permenantly being sideway at great speed... usually accompanied by a huge grin from the drivers seat (and as many grinning back from the sidelines watching).

    All in all it was a crackin' day, and if there was another similar day happening again up this way I'd be at it in a shot. Its something that's well worth it, as even though there was a bit of messing about at the end of the day, everyone (I think) still learnt something from it.

  12. Yeouch! Price is a bit steep! I guess that's down to the lousy Yen/GBP value.. :o

    I have to confess, the only way I'd buy a Impreza Hatch would be if it was a Diesel.. I think it suits it.. :D But not at that price.. Hardcore Impreza/smokey fans only.. sadly..

    Hmmm... As far as "overpriced" goes, it's only about £3k dearer than our Cupra Leon was (and it's 4.5 years old now) so I don't think its too bad (it's still too dear for me atm though... still got the STi to pay for atm). As a TDi I'd go for it, 'cos it looks to have the economy AND the AWD, the Leon TDi does come in 4wd but only in europe (still annoys me that). The looks are okay, I think the hawkeye shape is nicer (as is the classic) but as a TDi runaround I think the new one looks okay, plus it looks enough like the WRX/STi not to look too bad against it.

    Although, one thing that counts against it, is that if I was looking for one like that at the moment, I reckon I'd probably be more likely to go for the Forester TDi instead.

  13. Who will be the first to pinch the block and make it in to a big Bhp Petrol build, should be able to take lots of boost lol

    Actually I was thinking a similar thing, 'cept I was thinking of taking the TDi engine, making IT more powerful and chucking it in a 2dr classic :D

    Wonder how powerful you could make the TDi engine (keeping it as a diesel)... would imagine you'd get over 200bhp out of it anyway, which in a classic would give you UK Turbo-ish power (but more torque). Okay the 0-60 wouldn't be as good as the petrol but once it was moving I think it'd be not bad. Just seems that too many "old people" have bought the diesel scoobs 'cos I've not seen many crashed ones to nick the engine from :o

    Yeah, so far I've seen three possibilities (2 of which could just be complete rumour)... theres the 150bhp output (as per existing Boxer diesels), then a possible 180bhp or 200bhp "STDi" versions (depending on which website you look at).

    Would be nice to know if the Impreza versions were going to be the exact same as the other diesels or if they were going to be higher output versions in a WRX/STi "flavour".

    Yup, those will be the interesting figures to hear (esp if they are higher than the Legacy outputs). 150bhp in a small hatch is okay (got a Leon Cupra TDi at the moment) but closer to (or over) 200bhp would be far more like it :o

    Was gonna say I couldn't see anything about them online.

    Am assuming they are still using the 150bhp diesel engine and haven't had a bump up power wise.

  17. However one key problem with this is logistics.. AFAIK it's bad enough getting a drivign test booked just now.. let alone if they were to be done every 5-10 years for all drivers.. And the chances of getting a re-test in 30 days will be darn near impossible..

    I've heard there is a bit of a slow down on a lot of other jobs, and plenty of people out of work too... theres a good supply of people to train up to be instructers, etc :rotfl:

    Lots of man/woman power would be required to implement it.. Also woudl mean additional driving schools for renewal drivers, not just new drivers. And to top it off, many drivign instructurs are apawling on the roads! There are some in my area which are down right dangerous.. I have witnessed them driving through towns (on their own) with their clearly maked up cars, at over 30mph... Often flyign out of junctions without looking/stopping and sometimes not even slowing down! not the level of standard youd expect..

    However the best one (and almost unbelievable) has to be hearing of several instances where the learner's phone rings and the instuctor says, "don't worry let me hold the wheel while you answer it". Another similar case was the instructor allowing the student to reply to their boybriend via text message while driving along at 50-60mph!!! :rotfl: Admitedly I wasn't in the car with these people so I can't say 100% defiantel but speaking to the student who was allowed to text it seemed pretty genuine! Couldn't believe it when I heard that! if that's the standard of the driving schools what hope is there! as with most industries these days, it's all about figures and meeting targets.. what about the target for only allowing safe drivers on our roads!

    I strongly believe the current driving test should give you a provisional licence.. then to get a full one you need to do a test similar to that of the IAM test.. Now there's a driving course that forces you to drive properly and safely without beign slow about it!

    Can't believe that instructors would be as bad as that, but don't doubt you. I guess like anything else, there are plenty of people who managed to pass their driving test despite not being that great, am sure that there are a few instructors the same with their tests.
