  1. I said it was a 4 door saloon!! Am I going to Hell now???
  2. No probs, I have found it. I will try and attend, but I you should have a chairperson and start off your agenda by stating the reason for the meeting, and the meeting rules.
  3. Ill troll through all the old threads, but I must have missed the reason for the meeting. (PM me if its something REALLY obvious). Have email invites gone out to all of the members who don't come onto the BBS very often? Im sure most of them would like a say in any decisions made?
  4. I have one of these pop up Argos jobbies I take to watch the kids play footie (which is where I am instead of KS meets). http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/part...t>GAZEBO.htm Two other parents have the same one and we often put them up together, cable tying the posts to make one large solid rainproof sheelter for two teams and all the parents to stand/sit under. They take 5mins to put up. -Tops. The have one wall with a plastic window in, that you can attach vinyl to. I got mine at the end of last summer and it was cheaper as Argos only sell these in the summer catalogue. The pack into a small bag that fits through the arm rest hole in the back of my newage so I can still put two people on the back seat. I dont know how big these other ones are, but you also have to think about getting them to the event. With regards to whatever is chosen, you bolt the legs down onto 5-10mm large metal plate sthat you can them park aa cars front or rear wheel on. It wont be blowing away in a hurry. Its the same technique used for the SIDC banners. Whatver people do decide, put me down for £20.00. Andy
  5. Hi Col, Are you still working on the trains? (assuming I have the right Col) Its a shame about your old car. It was the black one that we fitted the delimiter to, if I remember right? As Granby says, there were two events that weekend, with a lot of people committing early to the National Rally day, rather than the local Kent one. I personally have other commitments most weekends and have not been to any large meets for over a year. (Such is life when you try and be there for your kids). Im still what I feel to be an active member of Kent Scoobies (with good reason), but just not a visible one. HOL
  6. I don't know if anyone got my text, but our flight home was delayed 9 hrs, so I stayed in bed. I hope it was a good day, the weather seems to have held off.
  7. Are you sure it must be blue?? Its not a 1600, but he could put the money saved towards insurance: http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/thread/1010807.aspx
  8. If the acyuator is new, id keep it. Aftermarket ones are only shiny versions that have interchangeable springs. Not worth the effort in a car that is running less than 2 bar (been there in a 5GTT). Also no really worth it on a Scoob as boost is ECU controlled anyway and you wont ever see it, due to the Turno's position. If you must, rally design in faversham do a cheaper one with changeable springs than Forge. Do change the pipe though, if it has a hole, you have a 'bleed'.
  9. HOL Actuator Tuning 101: The actuator is a mechanical device with a spring to keep it closed, and a pressure induced diaphram opposing it at the other end. Its job is to hold back the wastegate arm and hence the waste 'gate' itself, as shown below: At the boost in the car is increase, the boost in the small pipes leading to actuator are also increased until such a point that it pushes against the force of the spring and opens the gate up, letting any EXTRA boost inducing exhaust gases escape doen the exhaust. In a purely mechanical system, the actuator can be 'fooled' into opening later by bleeding off some of the boost in its supply pipe (a bleed valve). For Example - You can put 2bar into the beginning off the pipe, bleed half out along the way and still keep closed a 1.1bar actuator with only 1 bar at the end. BUT, your car will be bossting to 2 bar.. On a scoob, the boost is actually regulated by the boost solenoid, which is ultimately controlled by the map in the ecu. Although you can fool these by fitting a dawes device (another type of bleed valve). The more boost you run, the stronger spring you need to hold your wastegate shut, as the exhaust gases and boost pressure can open it up on their own - boost creep. What may have happened in your car is that the actuator spring has got weakened and is not holding the actuator arm firm enough. The trick here, as will any spring is to increase its pulling force. This is normally done by making the arm shorter (or longer) depending on the turbo design. When you disconnect the actuator link from the waste gate arm, you should see a half-hole overlap between the two (like a partial eclipse of the moon), whereby you have to stretch the rod a half holes distance to put it on. This is your half hole preload. If this not enogh, then increase the preload until you get the boost you want. Chnaces are your spring IS week, and the story of slacvkening it off, is just a front and no amout of adjusting will help. In such cases you really need a replacement actuator. I hope that makes sense? Sorry I cannot be Scooby specific, but i have never taken my the Turno off my car.
  10. You sure you need to make it longer? On the RS Turbos and GTT's we used to pull it tighter (shorter)to hold the wastegate shut for longer. If I recall, the standard 'preload' was half a hole. The map on your car should be doing this, by bleeding out the boost via your solenoid valve.
  11. I can conference in from a restaurant in Portugal,if you'd like [H]
  12. Sorry Guys, Cannot do this now. Running late on replumbing the bathroom. I have to finish the sink unit this weekend and B&Q have 'Flamingo'd up.' A flamingo is a lot bigger than a cockeral, by the way!! [:'(]
  13. OK Granby, so if I fit a nice new set of pulleys on the front of my bog standard 2002 WRX with PPP bhp 256 approx, am I likely to notice any difference in fuel or power. I know that when the bonnet is lifted they will look very smart, um really must read the handbook to learn how to open the bonnet, but will my car go like HOLssssssssssssssssssssssssss. Ha the dvd is a great insight into the workings of a team. Very enjoyable thanks for the recordings. I don't mind hosting a 'Pulley Fitting' party [<)] More hands on a single car will speed it up. We shall have to invite Deano though! - He actually IS a mechanic. [:$]
  14. Sorry Baser, have just been told I'm to be in Scotland that weekend. Seemed to have missed all the fun this year so far. [:@] I went to a 'traditional Scottish wedding' the other week..... NO Food and...................... buy your own drinks. [6]
  15. I nearly sold mine last week. Was not really looking to - , but I had an offer anyway. The wife talked me out of it......... She said I can upgrade my 'everyday car' instead............ As long as I get a people carrier [:#]
  16. Have you tried essex scooby breakers for a replacement second hand engine. Under a Grand fitted, afaik.
  17. That is SOoooo Cool, Who did it Ian?? Id love one of mine for the wall of my games room.

  19. Same here! But I fly back home on the Saturday, so I think a local event may be better. I can feel a list appearing 1. Granby 2. T123VOR 3. Shrek 4. Warby & Rach ( If you will have us) 5. HOL Any chance of a tunnel run on the Saturday night before?
  20. SATURDAY 25 AUGUST I have just noticed the date too. I am away anyway [] If you do not want Chinese, Indian or Thai, there are safer parking beefeater-type places around. Eg. Manor Farm Beefeater - Rainham Honorable Pilot - Gillingham Brewers Fayre - Leyborne. http://www.accessplace.com/english-restaur.../gillingham.htm
  21. The Malta inn is actually one of the worst for car thefts in Maidstone Its also very busy of a weekend, so we will be parked all over the place.
  22. I have a MAHOOSIVE frame tent, with a separate internal bedroom, if anyone needs to borrow one. Its BIG, and HEAVY, but you can stand up in it and walk about inside, if the weather is naff.
  23. You realise, that Kent Scoobies (Medway) has a local manufacturer/retailer of these pulleys. CDF Racing, [*] [Y]
