  1. Sorry Alan, might not have been too clear in my post. The new '99 hub has no place for a tone wheel, it must use a different way of sensing. My problems started with a knackered wheel bearing. I wrecked the end of the driveshaft seperating it all and the tone wheel fell to bits. Big'D', that sounds about right
  2. I have a my'98 UK turbo and have been trying to source front hub parts, more specifically a tone wheel and a driveshaft. I've been told there are only 2 types. With abs and without. The hub i have, has a toothed wheel that sits behind the disc and is fixed to the hub with allen bolts (the tone wheel). I assume the non abs version won't have this or any wiring to it? I've just taken delivery of a front hub off a uk99 car. i was told it had the abs sensor. It has wiring but it doesnt have a tone wheel. I'm sure it'll fit on the car but will the abs system work? I don't want to put it all on the find out it it'll not work properly. Any ideas folks? thanks Kev
  3. Yup. Biggest difference being where the power comes in and lasts due to the different turbos. The suspension is a bit stiffer and short shift gearing. The thing is i've now got that P1 turbo fitted to mine along with some sti6 typeR v limited suspension, so in summary UK all the way Hindsight being the great thing that it is, i'd probably have bought an import, would've saved me puting a load of jap bits on mine, but when i bought it, it cost me £12.5k and i wanted a dealer warranty at that time thought all imports were dodgy (why would anybody buy an import when you can get exactly the same car in the uk, hindsight again ) In fairness though, surely with regards to classics, you could only compare a uk turbo with a jdm wrx and not an sti. Or a P1 to a typeR.
  4. Sorry mate, just assumed it was you after having seen your driving in the past
  5. Col666 maybe?
  6. In what way? is it just they are faster? Just curious, only ever driven my uk turbo and a P1.
  7. As long as it was more reliable than the Sapphire Cosworth i had.
  8. Glyn stepped up at our last meet, just after new year i think. Well done that man
  9. Rig-pig, Did i pass you tonight in between wellbank and Kellas? Certainly passed a black blobeye, just didn't catch the reg plate.
  10. Lovely looking car Russell
  11. There is a couple of nice looking Sti's in Autoecosse in Broughty Ferry at the moment, a Hawkeye and a Blob. Not sure of the year of the hawk but with them both sitting on the forecourt together it'll let you get a good comparison of them.
  12. I've always thought the hatch looked best in red ,i agree your photos certainly don't do it justice. That really is a lovely motor mate.
  13. Who else got spammed by Sophia? 1.scoobykev 2. green goblin 3.kennyuk300
  14. yes i have. Give me a shout when you're home and we'll meet up
  15. It would appear Sophia is the person to contact for all your HID needs
  16. It's not a reg plate i recognise
  17. i'm not saying bin it but the sills are a structural part of the car aren't they? surely there's no point in throwing loads of money at any car that is going to be never ending. How does the rest of the underside look? I'm not slagging your car, just providing my tuppence worth on what i'd do.
  18. But at the end of the day it's a rotten one. Once you replace the sills, it'll just be something else and you'll end up chasing the rust around the car. No point in throwing money into a car you're not going to get back. New sills won't exactly add to the grin factor of driving the car. My car's a year older than yours and i've been fortunate enough to never have to spend any money on it other than the mods i've done but now the rear arches have started to blister i'm guessing this'll be the start of it. As soon as i have to spend money on welding, it'll get stripped and skipped because it's not worth a lot at the moment never mind when it's rotting away.
  19. Any good deals on front brake pads for 4 pot calipers?
  20. Ah, just curious. I didn't realise there were different types, my kit does dip and main beam.
  21. Does this mean your kit doesn't have a full beam with the HiD?
  22. The lights themselves are are just standard crystal ones off the '99 onwards cars, which i have to say even with the standard bulb in it was a huge improvement over the morrettes. I'll have a look to see the make of the hid kit for you. My morrettes gave me nothing but grief, every mot they needed adjusted, last mot got an advisory for the corrosion of the lenses.
  23. I've got the same setup in my car as the pic above, i'm sure mine was converted by Wuz on here. It has about 18" of wire added from the box, which i hid under my centre gauge pod.
  24. My mate has a saab and his lights are brilliant. Worst case for the classics would surely be sticking the standard bulbs in for mot. Worth that effort for the benefit of hid over standard
