Hi Martin again, Bought a Bugeye WRX back in 2001. Got it from Belgium so saved a fortune. Then spent another fortune modifying the engine/brakes/suspension somewhat. Love the noise, love the car. Its a bit addictive though In the process of rebuilding a six speed gearbox for it at the moment, quite fancy the RCM carbon fibre prop shaft too as the 5 speed is too long.(see what I mean about adictive) 1. (not forgetting thanks to oobster for his reply ) My battery went flat in about 2 weeks, it turns out that with the battery drain of a CAT 1 alarm and a Tracker this is not unusual. Not sure about the calculations but CAT 1 alarm @ 150-200mA Tracker @ 100-150mA Battery @ 65-75A Drains in about 10-14 days Think I'll buy a second battery and swap it every week whilst I'm not using the car.

Anyone know of a good auto electrician in the west/east Lothian area. Having the old problem of rapid battery draining. New battery dead within a couple of weeks. Looking for someone with car alarm,imobiliser and tracker experience as these have been suspects in other cases. Thanks

I have a lightened flywheel and the only down side is that you lose the 'bimbling around town in 4th' ability. Below about 2750rpm in 4th the lack of inertia in the flywheel causes vibration.

Might be up for this if date doesn't clash with on call roster.

Wouldn't recomend anyone 'ripping the @rse out of it' with a sticky valve. If it sticks at the wrong moment it will hit the piston...adios muchachos!! If the valve is bent don't run it as it will eventually snap due to the repeated sideways loading.

You must be gutted mate, LV have really put you through the wringer. My own insurance is around the £1400 mark, however I'm modded to over 400bhp and all declared. (Greenlight Insurance) Out of curiosity how old are you, perhaps this is a factor in the high rates yu have been quoted?

Just a thought mate but a while ago I remember there being a problem with some of the aftermarket down pipes vibrating against the steering column. Can't offhand remember the make but it was the type that has the separate waste gate pipe. This was, as mentioned, a while ago and the problem may have been addressed by the manufacturer. TTFN
