  1. Assumed they'd be original parts - have left message and asked them to let me know. Would it really make a great deal of difference? Suppose though that as the insurance are picking up the tab I should insist on proper parts
  2. Couple doing their weekly shop during the credit crunch and he picks up a case of Stella. "What d'you think you're doing, we're can't afford them at the moment" she says. "But they're on special, only £10 for 24 cans dear" he whimpers. . . she scowls and he puts them back on the shelf. Bit later she picks up a £20 jar of beauty cream. "Hey, what you doing?" he says. "It makes my face look beautiful" she replies. "But so does 24 cans of Stella and its only half the f**king price!" Was in Tesco yesterday and woman in front of me at the checkout dropped dead. . . . shame really, she'd just bought a bag-for-life. What a waste
  3. Ah, Rachel Apologies if one of the locals was me I'll wave next time I see you. There are however a few scoobies in the Welling area that totally blank me - there's a fully stickered newage I've seen so many times on Welling Way and they have that really snotty "we're better than you" look on their faces - don't even acknowledge them nowadays
  4. Will email the company that sold them and see what they say - will get back to you - still wonder if perhaps clears might look nicer?
  5. Is there anything that can replace those horrible orange plastic bits on the front bumper of my00 classic, or do they serve a purpose? Wondered about a strip of leds that could be perhaps run off the sidelights (bit like the audis) or would they be illegal and fall foul of the mot?
  6. Would they fit my00 classic? Given that I got to have one replaced when the car gets repaired I'd been wondering about getting clears although blue is an option I suppose
  7. Found out that the garage round the corner does restoration work etc. Estimate of £828 ( n/s wing, door £180 and labour £648) which hoping the insurance company won't have a problem with.
  8. Well at least its amused you Col
  9. Was having a cuppa and doing some paperwork just after 7 this morning when I heard a thump - looked out, saw nothing but then noticed the car had been shunted about 8ft along the pavement Thought I'd go and have a drive up the road on the off chance someone might have pulled over to inspect damage to their car. Found the 51 bus, all passengers decamped on pavement - was told driver had gone back to survey his handiwork and try and find owner. Bottom line - nearside front wing damage, area around hinge 'peeled back' presumeably where the driver tried dragging car down the road, scrapes along rear door and wing Luckily door still shuts and car still driveable. Lets give Gary Moulson a call . . . anyone recommend a decent bodyshop. Before anyone points the finger, it wasn't Granby
  10. Going down the A2 today, approaching the M25 junction, and the overhead gantry warned of "traffic delays J3 - 30". By my reckoning that only left free-flowing traffic from J1-3 (the stretch to the tunnel) and yes, you guessed it , it was stationary up the slip road, across the roundabout and the flyover. Would have been easier to have said "M25 has come to a stop"
  11. Couple of people in a silver classic pulling on to the Frindsbury by-pass about 2 o'clock today. Then got a wave from guy in an orange scoob, with body-kit, on Upper Wickham Lane, near Okehampton Crescent, later on this afternoon - looked very clean although not too sure about the colour .
  12. Dunks paid £3 for his - wanna do a group buy at £2.99?
  13. Shrewd man. . . . much cheaper than Lynx deodorant and aftershave
  14. Depends upon the area you live in. . . . .allegedly
  15. Apart from petrol, £4.50 for 5 litres of screen wash and £2.99 for a couple of number plate bulbs
  16. Anyone going tomorrow night that lives near Swifty1981? I need to return a childs car-seat but can't get there tomorrow night so thought if I could relay it on via Granby. . . .
  17. I know this is a very old thread but we never made it to the Island in 2007 but are aiming to get there this year, probably September time. Assuming the above information still stands, can anyone let us know if there's any holiday letting agents we could contact for self-catering / rental properties - would prefer this to hotel accommodation .
  18. Had three go past my place this afternoon - blue stickered newage and black classic heading towards Welling and silver/grey classic with wrx graphic on boot heading towards the common - was that you 20twas?
  19. I've got Markies email address so will be in touch
  20. Shrek, in his van yesterday. Nice seeing you again matey - perhaps we could all meet up sometime for a natter, bite to eat? Let me have a pm if you're free any time?
  21. Its not a private issue that needs to be resolved - I merely commented on remarks posted by Pele that I felt were totally unwarranted and from the tone of subsequent postings there were clearly others on here that agreed. We had a meeting ages ago at The Wharf to thrash out issues within the club but sadly only 20 or so managed, or bothered, to turn up. Pele has now chosen to step down so there's probably nothing further that needs to be discussed.
  22. I had read all the thread and was fully aware that you were stepping down; my comment was merely intending to accept this was the best course of action but clearly even that you've chosen to pick up on. If you want to start a seperate thread go ahead. . .
  23. Ian has replied to the issue of being co-organiser in his post - this was indeed agreed at that meeting at The Wharf ages ago and probably without him agreeing to jointly take over the reins there would likely have been other members left at that point. I cannot comment upon your level of commitment in the past although I gather from others that you (with Aaron and Andy?) were instrumental in getting the club up and running in the first place. I have always been concerned, as have others, with your commitment in more recent years. As I said in my initial post we all have other things that take up our time and money and prevents us from attending meets be they Kent Scoobies or otherwise. At that meeting at The Wharf you admitted you'd had personal and financial problems and it was suggested that perhaps you should take a back seat from the club leadership for a while in a hope this would relieve some of the pressure you were otherwise under; you would of course have always still been there for advice be it relative to an event or a car. But no,instead of agreeing to this you were adamant you were going to continue -perhaps too proud to let go I don't know? For this reason Ian was asked to step up and share the load and to date he has done an admirable job. If anyone is deemed to be the leader, organiser or whatever you call them, of any club or organisation I personally do not feel its unreasonable for its members to expect that person to attend events and such like and sadly you were very rarely seen. You'd often put your name down but there'd always be a reason why you'd not turn out. I agree that its frustrating trying to organise something only for too few people to be interested - I cancelled the proposed trip to Bruges last year due to lack of interest and despite spending time sorting out routes, possible accommodation, shuttle times, cost and so on. Enough has now been said about all this - step down and let someone else head up the club, but stay around and offer advice
  24. Sorry Ian but its sad that Pele comes on here and makes some very unjust comments which neither myself, you nor Hugh were happy with and the thread has been removed before the other members of the club have had chance to respond although it does seem to have attracted interest judging from the number of views. I fully accept that the thread could so quickly degenerate into a free-for-all as it did before but hey, Pele started it and has yet to respond. She should be made accountable for the comments she made - and her being our co-regional organiser - I think not for much longer if this is her view of the club that she never attends
  25. Why have our posts been removed without any explanation?
