Arron, best of luck to you and your family in your new life in Australia. You're certainly going to be missed for the advice you've offered. No doubt if you find any classic car bits and bobs in the garage you'll give me a call before you leave. I hear Ian wanted to take on your place in the rally car until JK told him he'd never fit in the seat

Well said Hugh - perhaps if people are only going to turn up at the monthly meet at Notcutts or the Wharf then any form of opposition to that is certainly going to cause waves. . . . -

is this the end of Kent Scoobies -
Contact Deano666 on here - services a lot of the Kent cars. You'll just have to overlook the fact that he drives an Audi TT - he's got a part-time job as a hairdresser for when the weathers bad and he can't work on cars ps Hi Dean

Can't believe Lee's still getting Rachel to wash and polish the car every day

Kent Scoobies have been invited by Impreza Club Luxembourg (ICL) to join them on their Road Tour 2009 which will take place over the weekend of 23/24 May. Although final details have yet to be announced I understand that the Tour will take much the same format as 2008 - Day One. . .a round trip of around 220km (140 miles) starting and finishing at Ettelbruck via Echternach and Vianden Day Two. . .again starting and finishing at Ettelbruck but this time travelling via Esch-sur-Sure and Wiltz. This is of a similar distance On both days there will be optional lunch stops midway for which payment would be required in advance of 20euros per person. ICL restrict participation to Imprezas only and to around 50/60 cars per day to make the event manageable. For this reason we would need to let them know asap how many are seriously interested in going. I'd like to start a list for anyone that is seriously interested in attending but before thinking about adding your name to it there are several important factors that you'll need to take into consideration. Given the distances involved I would suggest we travel out on the Friday and return on Monday - this is going to mean hotel accommodation being booked for three nights (£200?). There is the cost of the shuttle (£100?) plus petrol - the journey from the shuttle to Ettelbruck alone is around 270miles each way to which needs to be added the Tour mileage, say, another 280 miles. There would presumably be the alternative option of camping instead of the hotel - this is something that could be looked into later on. Apart from this it is difficult to see how any other costs could be trimmed. I don't mind making enquiries etc as regards accommodation (seeing if we can get group discounts etc) and generally 'organising' matters although when necessary it will be down to individual participants to call the hotel / shuttle etc and make payment. Obviously if anyone wants to make more of a holiday out of the trip, there's no reason why the stay can't be extended. Issues such as this can be sorted if, and when, we know if we're even going. Could I please ask that this thread be used solely for the purpose of the proposed Luxembourg Tour and only by those that are seriously interested in going. Please post non-relevant comment or similar 'blog' entries elsewhere. I have asked Granby to help marshall this and delete anything that doesn't belong on here so as to keep the thread to the main topic. In the meantime if you have any questions, post them up. Thank you. UPDATE - ICL don't need any numbers from us until Christmas so this gives everyone plenty of time to decide about attending

The Luxembourg Subaru Club have an annual 'weekend' meet, scheduled for 23/24 May next year, which they limit to 50/60 cars per day. Am seriously thinking about going back for it and in fact they asked if Kent Scoobies would be interested in attending. It could be a good few days as the drive there and back is great and the City of Luxembourg is beautiful. Sadly though, given the Clubs general apathy towards such trips (2008 trip to Bruges was a non-starter for example) I couldn't see it happening Yes, Trevor, you'd need a proper exhaust, be a shame to waste all those tunnels

Got back from holiday last week - we drove out to Tanias sisters place in Switzerland, stopping over in Luxembourg for a few days on the way there and back. Including the journey from home to the Shuttle we covered just under 2000 miles and by my reckonings we averaged 37mpg which is about 10mpg more than I get at home. Perhaps its the absence of constant stop/starts for roadworks, traffic queues etc. Why is it that every European country outside the UK manages to keep their traffic moving? It seems their roads are never in need of repair, there's never a queue. . . . their petrol's cheaper as well so it can't be said that they're generating extra revenue which in turn is being used to keep the roads in good order. When we came across the odd bit of roadworks it seemed to be gone the next day. . . they probably have the foresight to get all the relevant agencies to attend at the same time rather than have agency one dig the road up and leave it abandoned for weeks until company two turn up three weeks later to lay pipes then bugger off until its filled up a fortnight later. Grouse over. . . .both The Duchy and Switzerland are fabulous places to visit and more especially to drive - Switzerlands got some great windy roads and is full of scoobies, albeit very few are turbos - mainly they're driven for their 4WD - apart from a few we saw, they're still all bog-standard so needless to say we got looks virtually everywhere we went, probably down to the exhaust, window stickers and McRae Gathering sticker which is still on the bonnet Some of them are even driven by old blokes The Duchy is full of high class motors - Porsche, Maserati, Bentleys - and even the 'ordinary' cars look new - perhaps they have a law stopping anyone driving a car over 4 years old or perhaps as its a major financial centre they can all afford expensive motors? Suppose The Duchy, at around 275miles is too far for the Clubs 2009 trip although we've been asked if we'd like to attend their big weekend meet in May? Thinking about going although I don't know Tania's too keen on passengering all that way again.

Report in todays Daily Mail about a Barry Rowe and his girlfriend Becky Hoynes killed yesterday when their wagon came off the road in Plymouth during the rainstorm

. . . . they look like the blokes that sold me your sat-nav shortly afterwards Car in the bottom row just being stolen? I'm in that picture as well - 3rd row from the right, 6 cars up It's a shame that in nearly all the letters people had already left before the photo was taken leaving gaps

Picture 3 "Well I reckon you've missed a bit, down there by the wheel arch" Picture 4 "I tell you Neil, three cans of red bull and looking at those pink graphics does make you feel legless"

Is that when you pulled on to hard shoulder to let someone out to stretch their legs over that fence? Wondered if Highways might have a shot of that
