  1. 1 - If your sidelights won't switch off look for the parking light switch on top of the steering column .

2 - Use the search function on the forum before asking the same old question .

3 - The best first mod for an impreza is the exhaust (backbox at least)

    4 - Buy a newage

5 - Make sure you get regular quality oil / filter changes every 3 - 4000 miles

6 - Always run the car on good quality fuel - V Power/BP Ultimate/Tesco 99 and add octane booster for safety in an unremapped import

7 - Avoid "chip"ing an impreza - get it remapped by an expert like Andy Forrest (Apexi for classics, ECUtek for newage)

  3. It is a "chimney" - it slots into the bonnet scoop (metal inside) and feeds the air straight down onto the turbo [:D]

Not going to show and shine it - needs to be driven as it should - when I start to clean the engine bay it should come up quite well though.  Not really cleaned it yet.

  4. Finally got the Samco's fitted - just need to give the engine bay a good clean up and then it will be done (for a while). Only the new brake set-up, new exhaust bit, wheels and a few suspension tweaks (with geometry) to fit now [:P]  Believe it or not, I spent ages picking every fin straight on the intercooler - it sort of worked, but they are very fragile - much better though (although the pics make it look rough).

Anymore tips for the engine bay?  More Samco's?

Brian, glad you found them of use. Just had my third box of bits delivered and fitted today[Y].

Folks make sure if you are ordering stuff that they send the right bits.

I got two boxes (newage) that were the wrong parts[:(] it is because the coolant and ancillary parts have the same first 7 letter ref. TCS135C-B is the 6 piece ancillary kit, TCS135C-A is the 9 piece ancillary kit and TCS135C is the top and bottom radiator hose kit. The clowns sent me a second ancillary kit when I wanted the coolant hoses. [:'(] changed no problem tho but just a pain.

Also been busy today giving the engine bay some more Samco blue treatment

    sorry for the highjack[:$]

May order some more in the future - halfway through mine - strut brace off, intercooler out, dump valve hosing out, clips everywhere - just been and bought some good quality new hose clips.  Had to "cut" the bottom platic bit on the intercooler to fit the Samco - it is not a full piece but will be good when I rebuild it all tomorrow night [:D]

  6. I am just doing the Samco's under my STI intercooler just now (version 1 not newage).  The Y shaped pipe under mine has to be cut and the Samco jubilee clipped to the old piece (as it bolts on - not cast on).  Should make a safety difference and was one of the only things Andy F recommended I do on my car as the hoses apparently flow better (and the older they get, they get more brittle), although the intercooler is doing the job well. Also straightening out the fins on the top, back to straightness - delicate job - they are very fragile.  It's one of the Prodrive mods (the hose) too.  I am also replacing the stubby intercooler front hose too [:D]  MORE blue samco - luverrly.
