  1. It's a good ethos Jools. My next planned upgrades are all suspension work. Having never driven anything with remotely similar abilities to an Impreza then standard power is still enough to make me smile.

  2. It's nice to have a spirited wee run, a great way to start or end the day I think. A VX220 chased me for 2 miles or so one morning just near work. Both got round past a slow car and made a run for it. We both hit some good speeds. He would have had me in a real race I imagine, but as I pulled into the wee off slip for work he pulled up beside and nods and smiles were exchanged and off he went.

I'm sure I asked you this before Jools, but just how much power are you making?

  3. Good to put a car and a face to a name sheep.

Is there not a shell in Alloa?

Best to fill up on Thursday or late Friday afternoon and then sit tight for the weekend.

I can't work out where the actual roadworks are taking place. Nadics would be a fantastic website if it wasn't so UTTERLY half arsed.

Is it so difficult in this day and age of Google overlaying street maps onto satellite imagery for a government run website to draw a wee map of where they're putting down the cones?

  4. Reconstruction work on the M876 Bowtrees roundabout, on the primary access route to the Kincardine Bridge, will take place during six weekends between 7.30pm Friday and 6am Monday, from Friday 12th August.

During the works temporary traffic signals and signed diversions will be in operation. Road users wishing to access the Kincardine bridge from the west of Scotland will be diverted north on the M80 towards Stirling and then south onto the A907, a diversion of approximately 20miles. Other diversions will also be in operation.

Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey.

Taken from NADICS - Scotland's NAtional Driver Information and Control System

That means it SHOULD end the weekend before KH.

Good diversion though. I sometimes go to work that way. The lovely wide lanes round Stirling are great for passing.

  5. Top many Jools, I was hunting for some Tyre info myself for my original wheels will need attention.

Just put my spare set of wheels on with new (10 miles or so apparently) RE050s on. Noticed the handling has changed from the previous set. Think they need a bit of scrubbing in.

  6. I was up behind a yellow RX8 yesterday coming out of work. I thought to myself - if the traffic's clear we'll maybe enjoy a wee run - as I've seen quite a few RX8s driven with a bit of gumption.

I got close and noticed a DASTEK badge on the back and thought "I recognise that name". Is it one of their own cars or something?

I must say grant, I do like the REAL celicas. None of these watered down new shape nonsense ones. PROPER cars.

With 400 ponies it must go like stink.

  7. Aren't the Prodrive ones made by Eibach, obviously to Prodrive spec?

Quite fancy Prodrive or Tein on mine, but the new splitter and some speed bumps at some of the sites I can visit with work at mean it's just not happening.

Unless I get out and do a bit of measuring next time I visit.

  8. Had it done on other cars/wheels, but never on a car that obviously enjoys a bit of spirited piloting. So are they reliable and do they stand up to a bit of welly?

My driver's side rear has lost 15 PSI in a month. When it was up on the lift at MSW getting the backbox put on I had a look at it because I thought it was maybe dodgy, and it appears it is.

UPDATE: The nail has went in right in the middle of the tyre, but at a completely stupid angle and as such Kwik Fit say it's not repairable.

The two front tyres on that set have seen better days, particularly the passenger side after KH in June. It was my intention to put the fronts on the rear and the rears on the front and then just destroy the entire set in September at KH. This plan has now been comprimised as I'm a good tyre short.

I have a complete spare set which I will be putting on tonight for road use. But don't fancy track daying them with only a thousand miles on them.

So I have some options - I need 1 part worn RE050 (drivers side) to match the current set and I can continue with my proposed plan. OR I keep the new set on and at KH I run with the passenger side rear (good) and the drivers side front (ok) from the current set on the front of the car as I don't think the rears will take a lot of punishment there.

GAHHHH. If it was one of the fronts that had been knackered I wouldn't have minded but I'm FUMING!

  9. The new series is availalbe if you know where to look. Nudge Nudge. And so is the new film which isn't in the shops until September. And it was hillarious.

Not that I'd download these things.

  10. I have hooked up a creative Zen to my Pioneer Head unit (8600MP, yank version though so no RDS). It's not a good setup though as the Zen pumps out Headphone signal only, and the Pio wants a line-in. I'd love to upgrade to an iPod and the iPod controller, but can't justify the costs.

So I just use my CDs, of which I have a ludicrous amount.

  11. You can get a decent improvement from just a head unit, but only at mid volume.

I done mine myself, quite easily too, but I'm going to need to get speakers in at some point too.
