Good advice guys. I knew the advantages of a cold air intake over a regular one. I may be a relative technical noob but I am learning as I go along thanks to some great advice and knowledge gained on these very pages.
Money, of this scale, is no object. The different between a good CAI (such as the APS which had been my choice), a panel filter or decent regular induction kit was negligible in the grand scheme of my project.
Most or some of you are aware that my plans are to decat then remap. I was under the impression that sorting out the induction side of things would be required to maximise the benefits of this.
I'm not after quick and nasty fixes. I've worked too damn hard to get into a position to own it so I'm not going to treat it like a Nova owner's halfords wet dream. It's my intention to 1) put aside the cash for this venture , once that's complete 2) get a slice of Andy F's time booked and 3) have the car modified near this date to include the decat, and any recommended modifications on the intake side. Then 4) Get it mapped of course.
I have no intentions now or 99% likely in the future to go to equal length headers, swap for a bigger turbo, forged pistons etc. It's beyond my requirements for the car as a daily driver and occasion visitor to the kitty litter in knockhill when my ego gets the better of my driving abilities.
So basically it comes down to - will the existing intake sytem with a green or STI panel filter hold back the car based on these plans?
Place bets now.
