  1. Mind keep them updated and don't do what I did and drive like Nigel Mansell down the M74 thinking you're well protected.
  2. I'm paranoid I'll be getting more in after my trip down south never mind getting more in the future! Damn shame you're selling up Michael. Have you already got points?
  3. Haha. UP YOURS CHILDREN! Serious discussion though. I HATE automatics. The closest I've ever came to killing myself on the road was at low-ish speed in a C180 merc because the kick down unsettled the car as it went off power, then sent the back end out in all sorts of crazy directions when the power came back on. But the more I read about the DSG the more I think "Yeah, that sounds like the future". Have a read at this - http://www.autoblog.com/2006/03/07/editori...mission-debate/
  4. Booioioioioioioioioing! Lovely car.
  5. {img}http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f362/VKL723/RSGTS.jpg{/img} Replace the { with [ etc.
  6. It was a good story. I once run out of petrol coming down the Bellshill bypass. I'll blame the dodgy Vauxhall onboard computer for telling me I had 8 miles left in the tank when I clearly didn't. Came to rest about 200 yards from the petrol station I was aiming for anyway. So I was parked at the top of the hill on the sliproad in the left hand lane. Plain view. Hazzards on. Me standing next to the car waving people past. I was going to leave the car and walk to the petrol station to get some petrol, but didn't. In the 15 minutes I was stuck whilst waiting on my brother to bring petrol about 10 cars almost ploughed into the back of me at speed. Another 5 pulled up right behind me to turn left. HELLO! HAZZARDS ON! ME NOT IN THE CAR! How many offered help? NONE.
  7. Y'know I could maybe make our own one of these up using my mad google maps skills - see the link in my sig for more infos.
  8. I'll write back telling them it was me. Front facing camera from overpass with just me in the car. Not going to be able to contest that. I'll see what they come back with in terms of a fixed penalty or whatever before deciding on a course of action. I'm a great believer in doing the time if I've done the crime, so 3 and 60 is fair game.
  9. I don't see anyway to get off with it to be honest. The NIP is all correct and they'll have the camera evidence I imagine. No point fannying about with them and risking a court apperance when I can get the basic 3 and 60.
  10. Och it's a fair cop. I was doing it, I'll take my medicine. Just hope none of the other ones got me.
  11. Cheers Cal. First time since I passed my test in '98. Not bad for someone with a weighty right foot like myself.
  12. Letter in from Dumfries today. 92 in a 70 on the A74(M) at Kirkpatrick on Saturday morning. D'OH! What are we talking about fine wise then? Knew I'd got close to that one as the RA hadn't beeped and had set the tomtom warnings too short.
  13. We've got some technical minded peopel here who aren't opposed to a bit of progress and change. What's the opinion on the VeeDub's DSG? The future, a fad, a bad thing?
  14. Can't remember if there was carbon or not. It would have been about half 8 (late for the train as usual, tsk) and I'd have been eastbound just after the roundabout that takes you across the motorway to deerpark.
  15. Wouldn't touch any sort of piggy back to the ECU mate. It's asking for trouble. Go for either a remap or a replacement like the Apexi Power FC.
  16. Hypertech were doing free fitting on Whiteline gear. Not sure if you need your geometery setup after getting that done though. Probably do I imagine. So it'll be an extra £40 odd to get that setup. Try and do any handling mods at the same time so you don't have to keep getting geometery re setup.
  17. Anyone piloting a loud blue new age heading up the Livingston road from deer park last night? I was at the lights waiting to get on the M8 westward when I heard then saw you. Also this morning a wave from a Silver classic on the A89.
  18. Ed, I'd highly recommend getting the droplinks done before going for power too. The car handles so much better with them.
  19. Fuelling and indeed oiling now are still on my list of factors to be considered. Will an 05 WRX running around 300/300 be maxing out the pump or injectors? Is the uprated Oil Pump needed? As I said on the CAI thread - it's a daily driver which has to be able to make the power reliably, so even if it was getting close to the limits I'd rather fit something improved to keep everything more than kosher. No point making stupid power for a month before half the engine disappears out the exhaust when it gives up. But there's also no point fitting something I don't need.
  20. Peter, is the uppipe cat not the most restrictive part of a WRX system? Ed, I'm on the same lines as you, and I've been doing plenty of research on what to get over quite a few months now. So the list of performance parts I'm working on is: 1. STI Panel Filter or other performance filter 2. Samco IC Hose pieces (got a link for that at home somewhere) 3. Full Decat. Probably get an STI uppipe and then get a full turbo back system from C+C or Meercat, or maybe just buy the bits from H+S as I'm running an H+S backbox just now which I quite like. That's a story for another day though. 4. Remap Through my research and the technical advice given by some of the scientists here the numbers talked about have been just shy of 300/300 with that, which is my goal. I'd originally thought an APS CAI or another good induction kit would be necessary, but apparently not. There's a very good explanation here when I'd asked before - http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/589308/ShowPost.aspx Hope that helps.
  21. Damn shame Al. I remember reading a bit about the game and it did sound blatantly average though. You're probably better off without it.
  22. Well I've filled up 4 times since the 1st. Bellshill on the 1st and then the 3rd, then once south of Preston yesterday morning and then Happendon this afternoon on the way home I can't say I've noticed any difference in performance in my car at all. It's been driven pretty hard too - the run to helensburgh on Thursday night, then a trip down to Blackpool yesterday and back up today at COUGH mph on the M6/74.
  23. Billy, I forgot to wish your daughter a happy birthday. I have no manners. I should be taken outside and beaten with a centre section.
  24. Hmmm, I can think of a lot better ways to do this mate. You could use some fancy AJAX and load the property data out of XML. Very modern. Ummm, I'm assuming stuff.php basically pulls a recordset out of a database and loops through each record to output the properties? If so then take a copy of it and only do the first 2 iterations of the loop. PHP is very easy to use if you can script/program to any degree. Have a look at the RB map in my sig. Check the code. That's some AJAX to dynamically load the pointers out of an XML file. Blatantly stolen from somewhere else of course!
