  1. There is also two types of Wastegate - internal and external. An Internal wastegate is part of the turbine housing and the diverted gasses enter the downpipe of the exhuast like the gasses that have also made a trip round the turbo. An external wastegate has a second pipe (AKA the screamer pipe) generally where the gasses exit. Like having a second exhuast pipe if you will. You can't "fit" a different kind of wastegate as standard as it is part of the turbine housing, so you'd have to move to a turbo so large that it required an external wastegate. You can fit an external boost controller though which would modify when the wastegate openned so that you could run higher boost.
  2. One is on the exhuast side one is on the intake side. A wastegate diverts some of the exhuast gasses away from the turbo. When your turbo reaches say 1 bar of boost and you're still accelerating then the wastegate is openned so that some of the exhuast gasses can be diverted away from the turbo so that the boost pressure is stabilised at the correct pressure. BOV/DV is another valve. When you close the throttle the pressurised air in the turbo has no where to go, so the BOV is openned and the contents of it are either venteded to the atmosphere (Tschhhhhh noise) or recirculated into another part of the intake system. That help?
  3. Welcome to the club. Got to agree with Peter, a scooby over an Evo any time. Not sure about the UK300, is that the bugeye WRX with the prodrive rear wing etc.?
  4. Got my new exhaust fitted today. After much contemplation I ordered the 4" tail pipe but a 5" came so thought what the hell and kept it [] Will post up some photos when I calm down [:|] How does it sound then Vicki?
  5. Any complaints about excessive tyre wear on the prodrive settings I think are a lot of nonsense. I've been running it for a year and a half now and had no issues and that includes trackdays, runs etc. etc.
  6. Is that an outback or does it just look really tall cos JC's standing next to it? []
  7. Yes. Proper geometery is well worth the money. Turn in, cornering, motorway crusing, anything and everything benefits from it.
  8. I stand corrected then. So it's a well spanked 996 Turbo and not a tricky GT3.
  9. Great video sheep. Tell your mate it's a GT3 though. GT2 is the one with the air intakes for the twin turbos mounted on the spoiler.
  10. That's why I get paid the big bucks! ooops, better not use the exclamation mark.
  11. Actually, it's Ac!D's name. The ! breaks the quote function.
  12. Damn straight Brian.
  13. Looks great Neil.
  14. That's your DCCD. Allows you to send more torque to the rear wheels when it's in manual mode. Read the instructions man!

  16. You concentrate on getting it ready for Knockhill please Wilky. Want to see EVERYTHING getting scalped.

  19. And The sheep up here had nothing to do with it?[*-)]perhaps you should look back at the threads Stephen......... Example - http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/748511/ShowPost.aspx (Shakes head and walks away)[8-)] Craig JC I touch goats Aye. You did alright too big man. [] Forgot you'd flagged it up way back when. I wasn't belittling anyone's effort as there was plenty of people who helped out, and some lazy ones that just turned up and had fun like me.
  20. You beat me to it JC. Have a bash at it mate, you done the club proud that day so why not. You can only make an erse of it! Write it all down and I'll have a go at making it wordy and grammatically correct if you want. I do alright with the words for someone that failed higher english with flying colours.
  21. JC should be given first crack as RO and the man who worked hard to get us all in gear to get our ass down there. Plus he cleaned up.
  22. Set as my desktop here at work. [y]
  23. Because of AndyWRX I've been singing goodbye ruby tuesday all morning. Which makes a change from the gummi bears theme tune. Like I told you last night Sharon, good luck and take care of yourself, and each other. Oh wait that's Jerry Springer
  24. Well the BMW was faffing about in the middle of the road, so I had to educate them as to what the correct line was round that corner. I tell you what - trying that in the bridgestones would have resulted in more of a drift, but the goodyears are stuck down like white on rice.
