Got it sussed, I have resricted peak boost to 1.1 bar which Im mapped for, I can make it spool early or late, crank it up or turn it back, will allow me to map for 1.4 bar and run that boost with my standard map sensor, a 3 bar map sensor would have taken away one of my rows in the link map which would have been pants. Also, with the 3 port boost solinoid gone and better pipes and the plastic restrictor gone, things are far more exciting, Ill have to fiddle with it for a while but once I get the hang of it and get it set up, I recon she will be much quicker than her current rapid self, even with the current map profile. Andy thank you for the Japanese Philosophy, I have also head "Wise man wif gucci boost controller, is easily a fool with blown engine." So Im going to Caw canny until im up to speed with the thing!

I think it was because my revs werent that high, about 4-5 grand but the boost, jesus wep! I was so so lucky to have spotted it.

Just installed a greddy electronic boost controller today, its very nackerdooky! Was having a spirited drive along the A2 towards Dover, I thought to myself lets have a wee blast and see whats whats, sank the boot and off we went, I thought, "My, isnt she going well!" until I glances at the controller and saw my boost getting very close to 2 bar!! I nearly keeched my tweeds!! Upon reading the manual properly it would appear that I had wiped the facory setting of 0.5 bar and given it a ridiculous limit. Dont seem to have damaged anything but it was a bit of a shock, knocklink didnt christmas tree though which was peculiar. Im never going to "Plug and play" again without reading the manual properly! Just a quicky, if you know what you are doing its also worth giving your DV an ocassional clean and lube, I use copperslip This stops the comment "This was a waste of money, its f*****!"

Squirrel, my dear fellow! How is paisley ? Your turbine can take the strain but for how long? I can get the repair kit for about £35 when the shaft gives out.

I have a forge DV, I like the pssssss! What the valve does is dump the boost when you lift off to brake, slow down etc etc. It stops you turbine in the turbo housing stalling, keeps it spinning by dumping off the pressure as it comes back down your system, no longer required because you have lifted off the accelerator and not being able to be forced into the cylinders has no where to go except back the way, the dump valve, connected in which ever manner it does, dumps the back pressure. Recirculating puts it back into the sytem via the intake, VTA vent to atmosphere just dumps it harmlessly wherever it is. There are many arguments and preferences. Some folk dont like hot air going back into thier intake and prefer VTA cos it keeps the charge temp down, some people prefer recirculating because the air that is being dumped has been metered by your AFR as it comes in and feel that dumping it away will bugger up your metering and fuelling, or simply feel like a boy racer with all the pssss! churrp! or whatever, and dont like it. They all do the same thing and there is very little IMHO difference in the goods produced by different companies. Just a name, build quality or overall gucci fandangoness will dictate the price! I have a forge on my pace hard piping for my FMIC, its VTA and I like the noise, but my car has a link ecu and doesnt need a AFR it reads from elsewhere so that doesnt bother me. Have a look at others cars and make your own mind up before you chuck your money away. Incidentally, the wrc cars dont have a dump valve, they keep the pressure in the system, it stalls thier turbine but the pressure is still there so they spool up quicker, mind you, prodrive can replace thier turbo after every race ! We cannot cos its too damn expensive!! Hope this helps

Hello all, Last few days have been a bit of a blur Im off to Vienna on saturday to meet my auntie Brigitte who promised to "look after" me when I met her the other night. Was driven home by taxi in a Skoda RS last night. The driver drove it like he had just stolen it and when I told him if I ever intended robbing The Bank of Austria I knew who call for a getaway driver, this just encouraged him to go faster. Wunderbaur! Weather is beautiful cold and crisp but neicht Snow. It is so much more friendly than Germany and I havent seen a single fat person yet, maybe its just me. The sports sadium is called The Arnold Swartzenegger Stadium because he came from Graz, and there is a statue of him. ESTA LA VISTA! BABY! ILL BE BACK!!
