Due to the rebuild of the Millenium Falcon I find myself having to part company with a prized posession which I was going to fit to my car but now feel my wallet and girlfriend would be happier if I sold. These are a set of Alcon/ Prodrive titanium brake calipers and discs from a pucker WRC subaru.These are the real McCoy, not your prodrive upgrade that you can get, but the monsterous titanium numbers that Petter Solberg would have had on his car at some point. They are gravel items meaning they are four pots with 305mm discs but the calipers will easily take a 330mm disc if you want to go that way. If you wanted to put these on your car they would fit under 17" on 330mm discs or 16" on the 305mm discs or your own 310mm both 330 and 310 sold by godspeed etc. What is needed to fit them? YOU would have to have made up brackets, buy pads (You can get 2 pads per caliper or 4 pads per caliper, whichever you prefer!!, 6 pot ones have 12 pads per caliper!!!) which are about £140 for a full set of mintex pads (1144 or 1166) and obviously steel lines. I cannot stress enough the calipers and size of the individual pistons are bigger than anything I have seen, they would stop a train! As the anoraks will no doubt point out these are specified as gravel spec calipers and the tarmac ones are 6 pots. Yes that is correct but unless you are doing some serious motorsport then for everyday trackdays etc the 6 pots would be way too much. These are outstanding, they were used by prodrive for testing, never rallied, and reconditioned before I got them. In the words of the man from Alcon, they are pretty bulletproof! I need the cash hence I am offering them to "Youz" before I try to punt them elsewhere. Im probably going to be cheaper putting a new engine in, Ive had a couple of frightning quotes for a rebuild so Im on the prowel for an engine, Im not going for a 2.5 because those projects turn into money pits and I cant afford that, but I would concider an engine that was a bit "special" if the price was right. Hello M8 the rattle is after about 2500rpm and is loud metallic and leaves you in no doubt that your car is buggered. Yours is probably a cracked heatshield vibrating on the headers if you have standard ones, I had it a couple of years ago, when the big end goes you will be in no doubt, get an EXPERT second opinion. I hope it isnt because its an engine swap or expensive rebuild Cheers Wilky

To those of you who know me it is with a heavy heart and tear in my eye that I have to inform you all that the Millenium Falcon has died. I was running a friend to collect his car from a garage in Canterbury when a rattle turned into cluncking and the millenium Falcons big end went. Alas, I am gutted. What next? 2.5? Engine swap? Can my wallet take the strain? I am off for a sulk and to scan the net for a new engine. If anyone can help with suggestions drop me a PM. I am devastated. Callum W

Hello all, Wilky's the name and I hail from Scotland, I now live and work in Canterbury and own a moded 95 STI RA. Today I was giving a friend a lift to collect his car and noticed an alarming rattle coming from my engine. Futher checks tells me it could be a crank bearing or big end trouble My car is obviously an import, whom can anyone recommend in Canterbury to have a look and do the work because Im really not up to speed with the garages in this area and dont want to end up as one of the unhappy people you read threads from who have a sob story about a garage.
