  2. A sticking DV can also cause starting issues from cold due to the unmetered air getting into the engine so it is worth looking at anyway. The reason I asked about the DV in the first place is that it is a very common cause for idle issues. Cheers Iain

I have encountered the idle problem with a Blitz DV on a local V3 Sti Type R, so it is possible, can you post a pic of the DV also do you know if it is a 2 piston type (I have never looked inside one) , do you have the OEM recirc DV, if so I would fit that and see if your idle issue goes away. If it is the adjustable Blitz Supersound type, I would suggest adjusting it tighter (making note of where it is set now) to see if the idle gets any better. Cheers Iain

  6. The common symptom of a head gasket failure is overheating. Ok by atmospheric I mean it dumps the air to atmosphere, it will make an audible ffttttssshhhhhhh sort of noise when you back off the throttle from being on boost. What make of DV is it? It is very common for some types of DV piston to stick open allowing unmetered air into the engine causing a rough idle, also if a single piston DV is fitted unmetered air is allowed into the engine.   7. Vimmy you may just have a vac hose off somewhere or perhaps a misfire, I douby that you would be getting det that early esp if you are running V Power. I am happy to have a look for you later if you want fella. Cheers Iain
  8. Well if its a Phase 1.5 V3 (MY97) Impreza please let me know how you get on fitting the 4th bolt as there is NO tapping in the manifold for it Cheers Iain

  10. Are you running an atmospheric DV? Also what plugs did you fit PFR6B or PFR7B? If you fitted the 7s did you gap them at all? Cheers Iain
  11. I have the same engine layout as yours on My V3 (97) Sti Cheers Iain
  12. Phase 1 has 4 bolts, phase 1.5 has 3 and the IACV was moved to the throttle body on the phase 2. The 97 Impreza defo only has 3 bolts holding the IACV on, there are 4 holes on the IACV but only 3 tappings in the intake manifold. Cheers Iain
  13. Looking at the manual the pre 97 (pre facelift) Impreza IACV has 4 bolts, the 97 - 98 defo only has 3. Cheers Iain
  14. Ok I should have said that if its a V3 or V4 97-98 Impreza there will only be 3 bolts but there are 4 holes on the IACV I am not sure but the older cars may have 4 bolts? Cheers Iain

  16. How many bolts are there on your IACV? There should be 3. Poor starting could be down to a partial blockage in the fuel system or a weak spark due to incorrect gaps or worn electrodes etc If a classic it will worth looking to see if there are any fault codes stored, have a look in the 'How to' thread in the 'Tech section' for instructions on how to do this. Sorry I missed this guys, I tried to find my way down but got lost, I got back to Swindon and parked up for a snooze as I only got 4 hours broken sleep last night due to the heat, woke up several hours later lol, bumped into Pezza on the way home and had a little blast so it was not all a loss Cheers Iain
