  1. This is the sort of feedback I was looking for What sort of power increase would you normally see from mapping with meth? I only ask this as I am curious to find out what the power would be if running only on V Power. Cheers Iain
  2. Ideally there should be 2. I think what may be happening is that even though the piston is moving to the closed position whilst you accelerate the boost pressure is leaking past the piston, do you have a boost gauge fitted and can you hear a hissing sound from the engine bay whilst the turbo is spooling? Cheers Iain
  3. I am not looking to big myself up in any way at all really, the thing is when I set my own car up and and got it mapped I thought the results were a fluke then after seeing the results obtained from the 2 UK I cars quickly realised that it was no fluke and that I may have been onto something. I did not really have anyone to share my excitement with so I thought that I would post the findings up on here, now I really wish I had not have bothered to be honest. Cheers Iain
  4. Was there only one piston inside when you had it open? Cheers Iain
  5. As for the question of drivability, both owners noticed a huge improvement in overall performance including turbo spool and super smooth transition during gearchanges. To back this up even further if you know of anyone else running an Sti with a VF35 @ approx 370 (flywheel)bhp (1.4 Bar on V Power) that has a sub 4sec 0-60, can hit 100mph in less than 9 seconds and can run a 1/4 mile in 11.80 seconds @ 111mph then please let me know. I think the results from both the above mentioned UK cars and my own car really speak for themselves. Cheers Iain
  6. Does it dump whilst you are driving, you dont really generate any +ive pressure in the manifold whilst reving stationary. The piston you can see moving there is the main piston, there should also be a secondary piston which keeps the DV closed off with the engine at idle vaccum. Cheers Iain
  7. The TD04 has the potential see you to 280bhp, if you aimed to run higher power then I would suggest looking at a VF series or TD05 series turbo. Cheers Iain
  8. Ok I can see that you would like to know what I am doing, I repeat.....I am not going to part with that info at this point. Obtaining a minimum of 25bhp gain from a UK Classic which should in theory have peaked out @ 330ish bhp on the VF35 with its supporing mods in anyones eyes is a huge gain without having to replace the turbo. The better of the 2 UK cars so far showed a gain of nearly 40bhp which in real terms is epic from the VF35. Cheers Iain
  9. I thought that this would have sparked a little more interest than it has, I will continue to post up the results as they come in though. The idea behind this post was not to give away the details of the setup but to share with you the results to show that it appears to be working. I think it opens up a whole new avenue of tuning, imagine for example that you have a UK Impreza fitted with the IHI VF35 and its running in the range of 300-330 bhp, you then decide that you want to up your performance. The limiting factor in this case would normally be the turbo, now instead of replacing the turbo it is possible to obtain huge gains (25+bhp) from the existing unit at the same time improving the already great spool and holding peak boost for much longer. Cheers Iain
  10. It sounds like it may be an ECU/sensor loom or earthing issue mate as you seem to have elliminated everything else. Cheers Iain
  11. That's ok mate I am not going to part with the particulars of my setup just yet but I thought it would interest you guys to see what has been achieved so far. I think that achieving 355 from a turbo that would normally see no more than 330 on a car that was a bit det happy shows me that even if the car is not perfect we are still seeing very good results, it could have been a bad batch of V Power, even if it was not that a few cooling mods and a little tweak here and there could easy find another 5 - 10bhp. Cheers Iain
  12. I see some people are hard to please, I think that 3 cars with my setup all running from 25 to 40+bhp over what is normally expected from the VF35 is more than ample proof to be perfectly honest. Every car is going to be different due to age and use etc so I am not surprised to see the difference in results. There are more cars due to receive my new setup and I may be playing with a VF43 in the near future. Cheers Iain
  13. I would be happy to point you in the right direction if you need any advice. Cheers Iain
  14. I already have a good time and the car does itself justice. Cheers Iain
  15. The 367bhp car made between 340 and 350 ft/lbs, I can't remember exact but I will check the graph later. I have not seen the graph for the 355bhp car yet. I need to get mine on the dyno to get the exact figures for my car. Cheers Iain
  16. I will see a low 11 with a set of 888s on no worries. Cheers Iain
  17. It reakons my car should be atleast 430bhp to hit an 11.8, that was with the weight of me (108kgs) included. I hate to add in that regardless of bhp the delivery, driveability, tyres, driver skill and a whole host of other variables will affect 1/4 mile times hence there were 600bhp 4wd cars at USC 2010 that could not break into the 11s. Cheers Iain
  18. Hi guys I thought I would share this with you all, Since my last remap with Bob Rawle I have helped setup 2 other cars using almost identical setup to my own car which have also been mapped and power run by Bob. The results were somewhat unbelievable: MY00 UK T2000 - made 367bhp (550cc injectors, FMIC and ported headers) MY00 UK T2000 - made 355bhp (550cc injectors, FMIC and tubular headers) - this car was Det happy for whatever reason so the ignition had to be retarded by a few deg to keep it safe also there was a little more scope to increase turbo spool early on so this car easily has scope for 360+bhp. MY97 JDM Sti - exact power unknown but is over 370 (550cc injectors, FMIC and tubular headers) I think the tubular headers complement the higher flowing heads of the Sti where as the UK cars may be better off with ported headers. To put this into perspective a well setup JDM Impreza with a VF35 would normally peak out at around 340bhp and a UK car would probably not see above 330bhp. So even the 355 bhp car is a huge 25bhp over the expected power. I will keep you posted on any further developments and improvements. Cheers Iain
  19. Oh I can't wait Chris. Cheers Iain
  20. Bring it on Chris, bhp is not everything. 400bhp lol Cheers Iain
  21. Nice little rice rocket you have there mate. Big 'D' killer indeed lol, I will get scared when you break into the 11s Cheers Iain.
  22. Welcome White Noise My V3 Sti is also called White Noise imagine that. There is plenty going on in and around Reading so I am sure you will get to meet a few of us soon enough. Cheers Iain
  23. I would love to get mine proven, it is a very low 3 second to 60 though it would be nice to have the proof. Cheers Iain
  24. No, when you stop the engine after driving hard the exhaust is still very hot then as it cools it draws in moisture so when you start the engine and the exhaust heats up the moisture gets boiled off as steam. Cheers Iain
  25. Only if the smoke is blue/grey and constant esp after being on boost. It sounds like steam to me from your description. Cheers Iain
