  1. It would be very hard to bypass the sensor as it is variable, I think it uses a bi-metallic strip to measure temp change, the sensor would show as a fault code yes. Cheers Iain
  2. You have verified the fault already by saying the fans are on all the time. Cheers Iain
  3. Forgot to add to that: The rad fan/s being on from cold is defo the temp sensor and a faulty temp sensor will give starting/running issues. Cheers Iain
  4. The only reason I mentioned it is because you said this in an earlier post............. "Got a bit of a problem here... went out other day an me uk turbo started first turn of key as always.....let here heat up till cooling fan came on then went off... 20 mins later she wouldn't start for love nor money...was trying to though...." Seems like it was starting when cold but not when warm that was all. Cheers Iain
  5. I cant quote boost per RPM figures but one thing I can say is that on my V3 Sti with VF35 fitted I can hit 1.35 BAR (what the car is currently mapped to) in every gear (even 1st) if so desired via my Apexi Avcr, and with that 1.35 BAR (350bhp/350ft/lbs) can get 7.7 sec 1/8 mile @ 90mph and 12.2 sec 1/4 @ 110 so I can only imagine what it would be like @ 1.6 BAR (it would be insane). Regardless of any quoted times and boost pressures the VF35 would certainly be my turbo of choice Cheers Iain
  6. Will have it with me at the meet mate Cheers Iain
  7. The VF30 and VF34 are pretty much the same just the bearing types are different, the VF30 has a split thrust bearing and the VF34 is roller bearing, they both have the P18 turbine, the VF35 is of the same beating type as the VF30 but it has a much smaller P15 turbine, out of the VF range it has to be the fastest spooling turbo for its size. As already stated the TD05 16G or 18G are worth considering the TD turbos are also thrust bearing turbos. I can vouch for the VF35 as I run one on my Sti, it is a mega fast spooling turbo. Cheers Iain
  8. The IHI VF30/VF34/VF35 or a hybrid TD05 would do the job. Cheers Iain
  9. I may be there as I go on the 15th not the 14th Cheers Iain
  10. Her may want food but does he really need it Cheers Iain
  11. So your car starts and runs from cold ok but with the rad fan/s ON, then once warm it is hard to start? If this is the case then its your engine temp sensor that is the main issue, the fans are set to run constant when the ECU cannot get a signal from the temp sensor, as the ECU does not know what temp the engine is it will basically perform the cold start sequence even when warm hence the warm starting issues, it will also cause running issues. I would defo look at getting the temp sensor changed. If you are getting a surging (on/off effect) or hesitation effect whilst building boost that sounds like you may have a dirty boost solenoid causing a bit of wastegate creep, but then as mentioned you could aslo have a spark issue so worth checking both out. Cheers Iain

  20. It is pretty cold round these parts, I just had a look at the weather forecast for the week on metcheck and it looks like we are all in for some heavy snow on top of these freezing conditions. Take care out there guys Cheers Iain
  21. You would know if it was overboost as it instantly takes all power away from you whilst under hard acceleration so you almost get the feeling that you have just hit something and it can engage the inertia reel on your seatbelt if you are not expecting it. Kangarooing or surging whilst building boost sounds like it could have a wastegate creep issue perhaps due to a dirty solenoid or a boost control pipe/restrictor pill issue. A few pics of your boost control system would help from the turbo to the drivers side wing. Cheers Iain
  22. Always been one for function over looks to be honest mate Cheers Iain
  23. I agree mate, I would like these issues to be aired and resolved but in this case we have to stand by the wishes of the post originator, which is fine by me. I would love to rant on about this but truth be told I dont know the full story so that would be wrong, it is a real shame but then it was through no fault or lack of interest within the SIDC so I am atleast happy about that Cheers Iain
