When it boosted in 2nd was it normal boost or higher/more savage than normal? I would imagine as the car is idling ok and unplugging the MAF has made no difference that the MAF may not be the issue (but stranger things have happened). Have a look under your dash and see if you can see a pair of black single pin connectors right next to a set of green 2 pin connectors, they should be directly under the dash roughly in line with the steering wheel. If they are there plug the 2 black single pin connectors together then turn your ignition on (dash lights on engine off) you should see the check engine light flash, a slow flash = x10 a fast flash = x1 so 2 slow and 6 fast = 26 and so on, there may be more than one code if so there will be a pause between codes, the series of codes displayed will repeat in a loop so dont worry if you miss it you will have plenty of time to get it as it repeats. When you are done switch off the ignition then unplug the black connectors. Cheers Iain

OBD2 = onboard diagnostics 2 which you will require a code reader for. Some MY00 Imprezas have the wires under the dash others are OBD2, it seems there was a changeover period prior to the introduction of the Bugeye Impreza. Cheers Iain

Come on guys I was expecting a little more feedback on this one. Scooby Princess put the word out at her work and has already collected 30+ cans. Can you take a pic of your boost control pipework please, I think the charcoal canister should be fitted to the MAP sensor line via a t piece, the solenoid should only be connected to the turbo, the actuator and the intake nothing else. If the boost spike is random it is not likely that it would be due to the wastegate actuator arm length or the old DV leaking as this would of had a uniform change on the boost ie it would always run higher or lower boost than it was before you fitted the parts.

Ok I just found a pic of your car, nice green by the way Assuming that you have just used the same pipe as what the std recirc DV used for the SSQV I will say its not that, what I do think it might be is to do with the boost solenoid pipework, if you have a 3 port boost solenoid fitted where does the very bottom hose go to? Also it should have a restrictor pill in it. Cheers Iain
