Was in a bit of a hurry coming back to glasgow last night around 7 and came on two classics who seemed to be heading in convoy. One yellow R reg ( i think) type R ( again maybe) two door and a nice silver WRX wagon N reg. Overtook them just after the roundabout and then played a little follow the leader for a few miles, then I got past again and drifted ahead. I was in the RB5, was this anyone here?

Glasgow meet.......Thurs...28th of April....Hillington
ian_finlayson replied to the squiggle's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Tell you what folks, didn't get to talk to that many of you tonight but now I can at least put a few faces to the names. Makes the whole scottish scoobies thing a bit more relevant. Looking forward to meeting you all again soon, hope to get a few tips on some subtle but rewarding performance mods. Especially if a few of you are upgrading and need to dispose of your old guages etc -
Saw another case of some bored police officers today on Clyde Street in Glasgow at lunchtime today. Yup Out emissions testing. First time Ive seen them here in Glasgow. Fortunately I was out on foot rather than with the car. Really makes me consider putting my CAT back on though. Pi55es me off so much. They really need to go out east to china and the like to stop some real emissions from cars. Our cars pump out pure oxygen in comparison to some cars out there. Leave us alone. Also look at some of the buses that drive around. FIRST bus are fine but check out some of the smaller companies. Cough cough when on my bike.

I'll be there for sure this time. I missed stirling but I'll be there this time. Ross it'll be good to see another RB5 there and also to see camie's car that you beat me to. -
In 1999 when i was 22 I bought my first car. A 1996 BMW 328i sport in Metallic Black (cosmos) from BMW dealer. No Pics.God I loved that car, wasn't too upset when I replaced it with Golf V6 4motion but when I look back I wonder what I was thinking. It was so gorgeous and was in mint condition. Vow that I will get another BMW sometime. Maybe an M3 after the current RB5. Paid £1300 for insurance first year. Admiral and lived on the Isle of Lewis in the north west of scotland. A very safe postcode for insurance! Just for info sold the golf to buy a house and bought a clio 172 "exclusive" No 003 of 172 made. Nice car but a bit gay. Almost as fast as the scooby though. Now have the RB5 as I had a bit more cash.

SPRAYPAINTING/FITTNG-GLASGOW AREA
ian_finlayson replied to stephen_dooley's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Not sure about fitting but I think he'll do it. GA Mann on Glenfarg Street, just off St georges Road at St georges cross is excellent and pretty cheap too. He put a spoiler on my previous car and matched the paint perfectly. -
I tink I saw a red one on ebay today. Not sure what year its from what year its from though

Carl, Did you drive down Coustonholm road from pollockshaws and turn left onto kilmarnock Road this morning/lunchtime. I heard a subaru outside and saw a white impreza which looked just like your pull out. If it was you where did you get the sti lights and how did you get round the fog light problem Thanks for the pics, I'll be looking into this more I think

Anyone have a picture of these on a classic with white guages (black would be ok too though) Also info on best price and best place to fir these. Just thinking for now but I think they woulod look great. Gives passengers something else to look at too. Other than the blurring scenery!

*** Roadside Emissions checks today ***

If I was a copper looking to pick up performance car emisions (ie no cat) I personally would have seen Neils car and thought, lets stop him, not the escort van (depends on condition though) Regardless, I really wish the police could prioritise a bit better, after all my cat is not that important when there are other nicking whole cars. AND will my car destroy the world that much. I do a fair amount of travelling around the world and can assure you my exhaust is a lot cleaner than anything in indonesia or malaysia, south africa or south america -

ian_finlayson replied to jamie_wood's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Depending what happens nearer the time I think this might be my first meet. I can get to see the wagon Neil and you can check to see that I am taking care of the RB5 -
I was in Largs today too. It's a popular place for a drive on a nice day. Mine is grey though so I guess I wasn't spotted. Did see a blue WRX and a blue classic wagon. Saw quite a few bikes too. Stopped for lunch at that crap caravan park place in seamill. Thats where I saw the WRX

Yup thats my RB5. Not in the best area of town, just praying the bams have more respect for the subarus Thanks for the complement. Had it two months but havent got modest - I know, it's lovely! I'm loving it. Had a good drive down past greenock through largs to West Kilbride and them home via kilmarnock. Made all the better listening to Celtic getting beaten!!!!!!

Not me pedro but I'll be at some meets soon. Thanks for that though. The RB5 was my fave classic (apart from P1 of course) and I love it, need more power now though. I sense and intercooler tilt kit and stainless intercooler splitter coming on soon

I've got an H&S downpipe and decat on my RB5 and it sounds amazing. Lovely rumble around town, great in the clyde tunnel and nice and quiet ( not silent) at 70. The best combo I have ever heard. At turbo boost time the note really hardens and goes crazy, I love it Oh and a prodrive rear box.

After two months of RB5 ownership I have finally joined scottish scoobies so I thought I would say Hi and ask a couple of quick questions. If and I say if i were not to have a cat and perhaps needed and MOT does anyone know any friendly MOT places. PM me for this I assume. My anthracite alloys need a clean up can anyone recommend a good cheapish alloy refurbisher in Glasgow Thanks for your help. By the way i live in shawlands so if anyone spots the car give me a wave. (I've read that we should all be careful about telling any potential thieves where we live so a message to them - I have a tracker and am not afraid to use it)
