I thought it sounded a bit throaty going down the road but when i got to my uncles I nearly wet myself when I saw the exhaust. One massive 4 inch pipe hanging out of a p reg proton. Not bad acceleration joining the motorway though! I especially liked the angled drivers seat back. Gives a good one handed seating chav position. I didn't try any of grants handbrake parking though!!

I have to add my thanks to AWD as well. Went in on Saturday to arrange my 90,000 mile service and due to them being quick with Andy's car they managed to fit me in on tuesday. They started on the car pretty quick but on my return found a few problems. They noticed some unkown crash damage but that was no biggie as repairs done well. More unfortunate was the fact that my front brakes were basically knackered so I was looking at a big bill. I decided to uprate the brakes so later that day Mintex grooved and dimpled discs with matching pads were fitted along with reconditioned calipers and braided hoses. Those came as part of a deal to round the price up to a nice figure so they did a good deal on fitting of the hoses. Last hour of the day revealed a need for a cambelt tensioner which wasn't in stock. Never mind, stayed at family members house in Dunfermline rather than go back to Glasgow but had to drive their lovely Proton courtesy car. What a weapon that car is!! Car was ready next day and they also directed me in the way of Tr for an alignment check. All in all pleased with the service though the bill was over twice what I expected. The guys were excellent and good company for the time I spent there. I am sure I'll be back again soon enough, maybe even monday for the whiteline seminar! Car is now running great, brakes are a world better. Funniest bit was driving back without any music due to me forgetting the code. I am not sure if it was always like that but the car pops and bangs on over run all the time, easing off from 70(ahem) is just comedy. Going through town is even better Thanks Lads

Anyone know a good paintshop in glasgow?

GA MANN in St geaorges cross did my spoiler on my old golf, he did an excellent job and was very cheap. I used to live across the road from him and he was always busy and repaired and painted a lot of very very nice cars. -
Yup Taxi rank at the shed would have been a winner. If not then there are usually a few on pollokshaws road. Agneda area is crap for taxis thats for sure. By the way South side is excellent, I love staying there. Shed is a little too convenient though. A few pints frequently turns in to a night in there!!!!

I've posted on the RB5 forum now with two maybes already, hopefully we can rustle up 5+ in various states of tune.
-
I'll give this some thought and if you want let the RB5 owners club know, there are quite a few of us in scotland and we gave already been talking about gathering soon. Should be more than enough time to mod up too! Ian

What's going on with the world at the moment?
ian_finlayson replied to Edinburgh-Chris's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Spoke to my Mum in Lewis yesterday, £101.9 for normal unleaded. Now we know why most of the petrol stations got new pumps this year. To allow 3 figure prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Can anybody get them to answer my emails, I'm abroad but want to order some stuff fo when I get home. Thanks Ian
-
Anybody here work on the maersk anchor crankers then and know Ross Marshall then, he is one of my best mates and works for them. Finnie
-
I have replied to him about the pump business and I'm just waiting for him to give me a price. Both places sell whiteline gear and I'm fitting the gear myself so now it's just a case of who offers the best deal. Both seem to have a good rep.
-
Got the email from him now. 90000 mile service needed and he's asked "due to the fact this is the second T belt change are you requiring the water pump/hydralic tensioner/ & bearings changed ?" I dont have a clue and can't read service manual out here at work so...can anyone tell me?? Thanks Ian
-
Do you have an email address, as I mentioned above I am abroad for work at the mo and phoning isn't so easy
-
Going for whiteline for sure as in the end they do the same thing, only dont look quite so nice. I've seen some great reviews for them too and some good articles. For the money they appear to be the best. Powerflex cost for the rear is the same as all round whitelines. It'll do for now. Still no reply though. Bit dissappointed as I could be spending nigh on £800 in September/October. Thanks Guys if you can give them a push in my direction. Ian

Always good to see another RB5 in scottish scoobs, we must try and get the RB5s together in scotland soon, there are quite a few of us. By far the nicest classic there was. The most subtle anyway.
-
Think I may have found out why still no reply, checked my outbox tonight and noticed that the automatic email that their website produces when you make an enquiry spells their email address, enguiries@hypertechscotland.co.uk. Changed the g to a q an so hopefully will get a reply soon Ian

Brilliant, thanks Chris. Tell him to get my business he needs to beat £120 for whiteline adj. anti roll bar and droplinks and £480 for 90,000 mile service at AWD in Perth. If he can, he'll get my business. Also need fitting of eibach springs and anti lift kit. Ian
-
Emailed these guys last week regarding service and suppy/fitting of some whiteline gear, springs and anti-lift kit. I've had no reply from them so if any one from there posts here or if anyone here knows them well could you follow this up for me. I'm abroad at work just now but want to sort things out asap for when I get back. Not possible to phone yet but have regular internet access for email. Thanks folks Ian

Awesome Neil, did you get the remap and service done first, you mentioned the torque was down last time I saw you

What should the next modification be then?
ian_finlayson replied to the squiggle's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Easy next mod, with all that I think there is one dream (or two).... 2.5 litre conversion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AP or Brembo 6 pot brake conversion -
BTTT Still looking for suggestions where to get the stuff and also where to get alignment done
-
Haven't used them but Gordon Hazletons in Hliington have a good rep. £45 per wheel 3 to 5 day turnaround inc. refurb which you dont need I think. Others here seem better value. Let us know which you use and how good they are Ian
-
Personally I would go for steel grey or plain silver, black would hide the wheels too much. 18s are there to look good. As for the price - fantastic, I've seen them on ebay. My only concern is weight. I've read so much about people upgrading an inch and losing lots on the handling front. Its all about unsprung weight and I would be wary of cheaper wheels. BBS are expensive because of quality and weight. My choice would be save an extra 300 notes get on the RB5OC site and see the group buy for original subaru speedline wheels. £800 for original wheels.
