Hi Huys and Gals Just finalised purchase of some used eibach pro kit springs and anti lift kit for my RB5. Now looking to replace the dampers. I am drawn to bilstein but which ones - Sprint or original replacements. Or any other suggestions. Would love p1 suspension but cant get a hold of them right now so trying to get as near as possible on a limited budget. On the shopping list too: Whiteline rear adjustable anti roll bar - should I get front too? White line drop links or should I get powerflex ones? Need alignment check once fitted, where to get laser alignment done in central/west of scotland Finally and worst of all 90,000 mile service - AWD, Hypertech or subaru dealer. Thanks Ian

Thanks dougster. If I put some more up will you add. Thanks. Thanks for the comments too. I maybe be picky but the picks seem to hide and thousand minor but irritating scratches and a few wee dents too. Just got the tree thing too. Ha Ha

At long last and after just 6 months ownership of both camera and car here are some pics of my little bit of fun. My car Ok how do you post straight on to post, cant figure it out?another

I am a right sad git but after my first drive in a new car I like to sit with a cup of tea and read the manual. It was a bit more relevant with the previous cars, BMW and golf 4motion, but the if you read the forums the amount of people who dont know what accessories their car has is amazing. Like auto dip rear view mirrors and auto wipers. and people not knowing that they could close the windows with the remote control. Even down to things like boot locks or "whats this botton for?" Why take the time to go on line and ask when you have a manual

Too expensive if you ask me, try Ivory towards teh vicotria. Or Bella Napoli has a great restaurant out the back. Good value with fantastic food.

I'm running 14psi with no over fuelling problems. I'm led to believe that the ecu standard will cut boost at 14.8 psi. Could be wrong though. Personally I am tempted by AndyFs Hybrid TD04 exchange. Sounds nice, I want more early power rather than big bhp. Then again need to sort the chassis out first.

Always love this one, comes up again and again!!. No ofense though mate

No bother mate, it makes a change that I have helped someone on here. I am pretty new to this scooby stuff. I see you are in glasgow, I've seen a silver classic like yours around shawlands a couple of times, is that you. If I hadn't got the RB5 I was going to get a silver classic and do just what yu have done. 18s colour coded and more power!!! You have good taste

Here is a pic. The pipe that was there has a t piece and is removed with the third pipe coming off the t piece blanked off with tape or screw and left loose. I used a bit of pipe from a parts suppiler to replace all hoses. I also marked the inlet of the original to ensure that when i refit the original it goes back on the same way. Hope the pic comes out ok. I am rubbish at this stuff.

Sorry off abroad tomorrow for ten weeks or so. I'll be online occasionally so will try and help. I found Neilsdir to be a great help. I have taken some photos and will try to post these when I reach work. But tonight it is too late . Rule 1 though - get a boost guage, rule 2 try and make it a decent one. I've got a grahame goode one and apparently it is up to scratch.

Neil, fitted it did one run on min setting got 12 psi, then applied one turn and got 14. Left it at that. I've had overboost once, earlier tonight so will be turning it back a fraction later. I am determined not to blow up 107. Car is now gleaming too. I'm at my mums and it got a good clean today. Looking lovely. Did two panels with quick clay and came out a treat, sooooo smooth. Applied some touch up in places too so overall pretty pleased with her. Tailpipe is so shiny I have to wear sunglasses going past it now. But I'm now going back to sea tomorrow so after I have a pint with the lads later (just one) I will be tucking her into bed in my mums garage. I'll be so sad leaving her, but I know when I get back she'll be going for a check up and hopefully getting her boots refurbished too. Depending on money maybe a subtle remap too. Then again I may leave that and get the spoiler painted again and pay dentmaster a visit. Spotted a couple of new slight dents ( at least I think they are new) Now that she is so shiny I can see them. PS I have actually taken my own photos

As I said above the difference is remarkable, I cannot emphasise that enough. It is identical to the dawes device, visually anyway. Before when overtaking for example you waited, 2000rpm, 2500, 3000 waaah and off we go. Now at just 2500 its picking up better and at 2750 ish it just takes off hard and keeps going harder than ever. Went out yesterday and really noticed that between 5500 and 6500 the pull is still coming where as before it was starting to wash away a bit. Just noticed the question about ebay link, here you go http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...ssPageName=WDVW

Was a mere 25 notes on ebay, came with instructions and arrived very quickly. Its a manual ball and spring version and though I know it hasn't got the finest adjustment in the world it seems a quality item.

Managed to fit my boost controller on friday. It an armval one from ebay ( saw a recomendation on scoobynet), maybe not the best type but I thought it had to be worth a try. I'll point out now that if I see ANY strange boost values then it's coming off as I want to keep my engine in good order and not in bits on the road. Anyway drove to my mums up the a82 yesterday and wow what a difference. Running 14psi on full boost with no over fuelling probs. Its like a new car. I amn't too bothered about full boost as I'm no nutter on the road but the pick up is a world away from before. The turbo spools up so much quicker now and also comes on at 2750rpm really strong. Delighted!!!!!!!

I drove the a82 yesterday and have to recommend that you dont do this guys. I have never seen it so busy. The roadworks at glencoe caused a near two mile tailback. Absolute nightmare. AND all the tourists were doing the lets look out the side window and not road. Average of 40mph for most of them. I was late for my ferry so had to do some of my worst driving ever, I could almost hear the tut tuts coming from the cars I overtook. I think my best was 6 cars on one long stetch -
Warning to alll scooby drivers in Edinburgh area

I've got the ordinary subaru sigma alarm and am pleased that it locks the doors as soon as I turn the ignition on. A pain when passengers want out but not too bad if someone is trying to get in. I dont have pentagon supaglass tints but any tint is going to stop window glass from falling if attacked for a short while I just hope it would be long enough for me to pull off. Also another good thing is that if you dont know how to disable the immobiliser (again standard, I am sure we all know but I dont want to advertise it to "others") if the car has been open too long. Still scary though. Got a good tip from neilsdir yesterday - when stopping at traffic lights stop with enough room infront of you to be able to pull away if an optimistic attacker comes running. Oh and tracker, it is a must with a scooby, never mind insurance I want my car back if it goes bye bye. AND I hide the keys in the house when I am out -
How much did that cost, I'd love to get rid of that box. I'm heading to falkirk later today so might have to pop in there to see what they have got. You in shawlands chris, me too, cant say I've seen many scoobies here. One silver classic on kilmarnock road and me near pollockshaws east train station but thats all. Ian

The one your looking for the is the official prodrive one from subaru that was fitted to the rb5 wr sport models. Not cheap at 500 notes from subaru and well desired by rb5 owners with the normal spoiler. They go for a mint and are so desired bacause the quality is excellent and they fit the existing holes

Can't I just leave the battery connected woth the trickle charger
-
Going to be going back to work for the first time since I bought my rb5. I'll be away for 3 months and will be leaving my car in parents garage. I've done this before with previous cars with varying results. Sometimes I leave battery disconnected, sometimes Mum takes the car out every couple of weeks, (or not, hence two flat batteries) RB5 has tracker so dont want to disconnect battery this time and dont trust mum so I'm going to put it on a trickle charger, any advice on models preferably cheap. I've seen a couple on ebay but not sure. Some very cheap. Thanks for the help Ian

Ok, I thought I had this sorted but my mate who knows a man has gone to spain for a week and so I am still MOT less. Went round today trying to get someone just to fit my cat for a few days but everyone is busy. Can anyone suggest a solution, I know its an easy enough job, just 4 bolts. The car is fine as far as I know so if I get the cat on it's going to be a trip to subaru or kwik fit for a real mot. Please, my poor car is living in a mates drive ( will be tomorrow anyway) Ian

Just remembered his wife owned the new age sti ppp and he actually owned the two stage turbo legacy, if that helps. Thanks Ian

Went to get tax today and noticed that my MOT runs out today, I thought it was next month. Got tax so that is ok but need MOT. Spoke to one of you at hillington at the meeting last month about it. Your brother has a garage which can help. Cant remember your name, sorry mate. I spoke to you with willie and his girlfriend. I had the RB5. Anyway to anyone else, I need someone in glasgow to do my MOT asap. (ps my cat is in my cupboard) If anyone can help me please PM me. Thanks (hopefully) Finnie (Ian)
