  1. Hi Mike, shame you couldnt make it especially with the weather we got! but glad your other half popped down with the car, was great to see a hawk spec c, absolutely gorgeous! and we did try and persuade her to join us anyway glad you enjoyed it Myles, think we can all agree that the cars have a lot more capability than the drivers! think if you look at whiteline anti roll bars and drop links, possibly an anti lift kit(which basically helps the angle of the tyres on the road thereby cutting on understeer) and a good fast road geometry setup would make a surprising difference for a relatively modest outlay. though you can set coilovers to any height you want so could keep stock ride height but with better dampers and springs green panel filters seem to work well and with the PPP your car should already be pretty well decatted, a remap as is would probably eek out 10-12 hp, combine it with a second hand sti turbo and injectors as Ciaran said and youd be comfortably over 300 without stretching reliability or drivability
  2. just because your cars capable of such feats theres no need to show off Barry
  3. sorry Cathy, i understand now ive removed the fork from my knee.....
  4. just to clear up my confusion Cathy, your going to stick suspension brakes and engine from a rotten bodied wrx into a sound sport with a blown engine? should work ok with a bit of work - just make sure youve the right combo of diffs/gearbox ratio thingys does this mean your going to be Cathy 4 scoobs?
  5. jump Glyn, jump! a very very foggy john o groats! a right pair of chancers
  6. thanks for all the kind words folks was great to see you again Al, especially looking well - and i love the pic of the run sticker sparkling through my spoiler my top tip from the weekend is to keep away from an angry Cathy with a fork!!!!
  7. well thats it over for another year but what a weekend, awesome weather, amazing roads and fantastic company - huge huge thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a great event, without you guys banter it just wouldnt happen well done to all the new faces for surving to the end too! so far awards go to ciaran for first breakdown, joint award for first heart stopping overtake moment to del and ciaran, biggest moment of the weekend to Glyn and also tryer of the weekend for being a front runner in the legacy and special mention to Brian for hood ornament of the weekend with a vfr http://forums.sidc.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/rotfl.gif
  8. amen - thats a thousand more than my second set of subaru shocks lasted
  9. not like you Al, your usually always polishing it .... hope you do manage to pop through, almost forgotten what you look like..... cheers Gus and everyone else, watch for photos on monday Paul, that explains why Dale cant make it this weekend - though he'l need a lot of blue body paint!
  10. howdy meat, welcome! thing with main dealers is they can tend to follow their checklist to the letter without looking at anything else - and independants tend to be considerably cheaper too. down your neck of the woods theres hypertech in bonnybridge, RA motorsports and AWD in perth who all specialise in scoobs and have very good reputations. 30k service i have a feeling is a medium one, things like diff oils and spark plugs are down to be changed i think
  11. J40Sub- wasn't sure if I could make it, but I can now!!!! see you's friday morning good man Kenny you know where to find us
  12. yea we got him Dale, no more of this evo talk now however he IS too gay to come on the fling this weekend.....
  13. ok this is a quick guide to try and make sure everything runs smoothly on saturday morning- MEETING POINT - beside the Vue cinema in Inverness retail park just off the A96, arrive from 9.30 departing 10.30am AT THE LATEST! on arrival those wishing to start in the progressive group park beside/around the car with the SIDC sign on the windscreen, those in the less progressive group park directly opposite. this is so on departure you dont get get caught up in the wrong group - dont worry about which group you start in, theres plenty of opportunities to move up or down. SIGNING IN - after parking up please go to the car displaying the SIDC sign to pick up your weekend guide and to sign in on the provided form. this will be used to check we've got everyone at each stop so if you dont sign in we wont miss you..... FUEL - Inverness has a shell filling station with vpower beside the raigmore interchange and tesco has 99ron at the retail park where we're meeting, id recomend filling up before coming to the meeting point as once you start chatting itl be time to leave before you know. theres also a burger king at the meeting point for people fuel. after leaving inverness there will be no more 99ron until inverness on sunday night, so allow for octane booster or jerry cans. there are 2 places on route with 98 ron these are detailed in the guide, the main refuelling point on saturday night knows we are coming and has stocks accordingly. SUGGESTIONS - things that will be handy- camera, waterproof jacket, suncream (really), jack, spare wheel/tyre/can of tyre sealant, in car phone charger, sat nav CONTACT - you can reach me through here up til saturday morning 8am ish, for last minute entries/ non starters my numbers 07768230461 and dont forget to enjoy
  14. is that everyone meeting at stirling? Cathy, Drina? Keira and Big Bob are meeting us on route so nice wee group
  15. amen Andy and nice pic Del, like the fact that you got two hatches into it......
  16. oooh does that mean Del's going to be the lone hatch?? good way to dodge the slagging Glyn
  17. big question is how hard are you on brakes? if your not running massive power or hammering the brakes on all the time id stick with good quality brembo discs (£???), fast road pad like the mintex 1144 (£90), braided brake lines (£50) and that should keep you happy. after that its options like performance friction or DBA pads and discs (£800 ish) or caliper upgrade kits like ksport (£750) or AP's (£1600) after this weekend ask me how the caliper upgrade route goes
  18. thought so, got the same set up on my car just now. take it its standard power wise? cars a credit to you and the previous owner, immaculate condition! howre you liking the hatch?
  19. yea thats right! my mate picked it up on wednesday and he's loving it any info about it you can share? is it godspeed discs on it? cheers Dave
  20. welcome along mate, get some pics up
  21. almost there now! so who's meeting me on friday at stirling services for the 'royal' leg of the fling? add your names please, meet at 11 for 11.30 departure. lunch will be about an hour and a half after leaving also if your not coming but are in the area feel free to pop in and say hi or join us for a wee bit 1. scooby222
  22. just to confirm that ive spoken to the petrol station in thurso, theyre open to 10pm, have plenty of 98ron and know we're coming on mass - the nice lady even said ooh i love subaru's!
  23. hi Chris, inverness has vpower and tesco 99 after that theres 2 stops that have 98 ron fuel, il be using that with a bottle of octane booster per tank just to be sure. if you read the first post in the thread in events it gives you mileages per day. on saturday theres a possible top up stop after about 40 miles for those with a teeny range like Ciaran
  24. il be picking some up from RA ciaran if you let me know what your after
