Anyone running a standard STi backbox with a decat down-pipe?? Curious as to how loud it is, i guess it wouldn't be too bad as the STi box is fairly subtle? I'm now swaying towards de-cat downpipe, STi backbox, boost guage and maybe a knocklink... Got a mate thats a mechanic so i should be able to save a bit on the fitting of the downpipe to cover the boost guage.....

Sounds like a plan........... Would it be about £100 for the part and £100 to get it fitted? This would leave the centre an up-pipe cat, these enough for an MOT?? Going from fully stock exhaust to de-cat up-pipe and STI back box would i notice much of a diff in noise / performance.... Cheers for the suggestions, if anyone else has any other plans for about £300 give me a shout.. Wilky... if i go down the route of the AVCR i'll try and stay away from 2.5 bar lol, no wonder it felt like a train.......

Jus a quick note to say after pondering whether to get my belt changed due to it being 4 years old but only 23k miles i decided to err on the side of safety and get it done (prompted by a £1600 rebuild on my bro's TT last week) Anyway, got it done today for £140 all in and they even threw in a wee wash... jus a small garage on South Street that i know the mechanic from so wasn't expecting the wash and stuff. Well impressed!! If anyone is thinking of getting it done PM me if you want specific details, will def be no more than £150 for the belt + labour P.S - That is one monster belt!!

Okey Doke... think i got that, lol I was under the impression there were a few folk running about 1.1 bar on a pretty much standard set-up... Only mod so far is a panel filter. Early next year i will have approx £300 to spend on the car and i'm looking for the best bang for my buck so to speak... not too sure about exhaust, may de-cat with something subtle like an STi backbox as i don't want much noise. Cheers for the info Chris

Alrighty Folks, Contemplating picking one of these up in the new year, couple of questions for anyone running one.. Will i be able to install it myself and if so what about the settings, would i need a rr session to get it set up?? Lastly, going on the price is it worthwhile on an otherwise fairly standard car, would i be as well spending £50 on a boost guage and manual boost controller? Cheers Chris.

Ok cheers guys...

Alrighty Folks, Couple of questions, Where is the oil filter located on a bugeye, i assume its underneath as i took a quick look under the bonnet and couldn't see it... Secondly - Where is the best place to buy an oil filter for the car in and around the glasgow area? Halfrauds don't stock them..... Oh ye, also, where will i get the sump plug washer? Cheers!

Wuz - Its 215/45/17 that is on the car currently?? When replacing the tyres should i be looking for a 225/45? Cheers Chris.

<< Where abouts in Coalburn is it? I work a day or 2 a week down there at the moment. >> I dunno exactly but i jus took the coalburn cut-off from the M74 and it was on the main road just as you hit civilization.... you do actually see the glow from a fair old distance!

I didn't realise he was so ill, Was sure i was mis-reading something there at first, very very sad news.... As everyone else says my thoughts are with his friends and family...
-
Would def recommend the one at coalburn... even as a scrooge i was pretty darn impressed by it, nice that he invites people to wander about his drive / garden as well...

I thought you couldn't get the BS stamp unless it conformed to the regulations, i'm sure this is the case on "cans" for bikes, if there is no embossed BS logo on them then they should only be for shows / off road.... Obviously this is purely based on shows like Traffic Cops so i may be talking absolute horse ****

<< Cheers peeps I think i will go for the toyos in 215/40 (Vicki) Ye costco do have some great prices on michelin pilot sports, i was in there last week as my m8 works in there tyre bay but they dont stock 215/40/17 only 205/40 or 215/45/17 >> Don't suppose you noticed how much the 215/45/17 were Des?? (in costco for the michelins)

Meguairs for me, especially the endurance tyre gel, magic stuff!! used to have a black RX8 and the wax was superb.. On the subject of women cleaning cars my gf's car is a total disgrace, makes me sick!! I cleaned the exterior at the weekend but i refuse to touch the inside... As for cleaning the exterior i was jet washing my car (RX8) and my gf decided she would test the jet wash on the garden slabs, i said specifically stay away from the car and don't point at it.... next thing i know i get wacked on the head wi a stone, turn round to see her about 6 foot away from my car pointing in that direction. Shout to stop then look at the car and its covered in mud (had just finshed washing that side) then i cleaned it and noticed about 6 or 7 scratches right up the side................. AAArrrggghhh!!

Silver blobeye on main road through bearsden (glasgow road?) about 11:30ish this morning... Couldn't tell you the plate cos the car was flithy which makes me think it must have been someone from the run yesterday! I was in a DBM Bugeye WRX... Cheers Chris.

Yeh it musta just been the radio... don't think it would have been the alternator either as when it started i disconnected the leads straight away and it didn't faulter so i guess it must be... I'll probably be over at costco this weekend anyway so i'll take a look, if its a decent price i'll prolly grab one and i'll post the price anyway... Cheers Chris

Alright Folks, Time to share my tale of woe... Was being subjected to xmas shopping through at macarthur glen today so we left the house about 9ish, stopping at a snack bar on south street for breakfast. As i'm a fat b i sat and ate for about 20 mins then i take the rubbish to the bin etc and get set to go..... Turn the key and nothing, then remember the immobiliser will have kicked in so hit the button and try again, still nothing, this time i notice the lights on the dash go a little dim when trying to turn over.... thinking that my immobiliser isn't disabling cos its not turning over at all i then get out the car, lock it, unlock it and try again, no difference... I decided at this point it was my immobiliser and not knowing my pin for over-ride phone my brother to come and take me home to get the pin, after coming off the phone i try one more time and the car turns over for about 2 secs then dies, back on the phone and tell him to bring jump leads.... 25 mins later he arrives by which time i'm frozen to the bone and we hook up the leads and the car starts no bother.... drove through to livingston (jump leads in the boot!) and go shopping, go back to car and its fine... been fine since...... bizzare!! What ya think, get a new battery anyway? Cheers Chris.
