John Stewart is trying to get dates from Knockhill just now. In the words of the man himself.. "I'm working with a few possible dates with KH at the moment. We're hoping to get a date in March sorted out (it's very busy!), but the first semi-confirmed date we've got is 29th April (9am - 1pm). We should have one before this, but it's finding a free slot that's the problem unless you want to go mid-week. Also sorting out a Friday afternoon session in May, but it looks like this may slip to the 9th June. August 19th, 9am - 1pm is also pencilled in. Got a possible date in late September or early October also. John Stewart " Hope this helps

<< does a UK 2ooo turbo need a remap instantly after fitting a decat D/P?? >> No, No non STI cars need to be re maped, it is a bonus to do so but not a neccessity like the STI's
-
Just to point out here, adding octane booster wont give much/any boost in performance if you have had a bad fill of fuel. The ecu will need reset. If the car has had low octance/dirty fuel in the tank and been driven, it will have been detected by the ECU throught the knocksensor. It will have retarded the timing right back so it runs safely on the lower quality fuel. Most folk are under the illusion that they just need to fill the car up with Optimax and stick some booster in to get it back to normal again, but it wont work straigh away. It can take tens of fills of Optimax before the ECU comes back up to its original setting. The easiest option in cases like this where poor fuel has been used is to run the tank down and refill with Optimax, let the tank get down to half again and then reset the ECU. You can do this yourself by simply removing the negative from the battery and leaving it over night. Either that or take it to a Subaru dealer for a reset.

If your car is a WRX and not an STI the you will be fine. You should notice a nice little boost in performance On the other hand if its an STI, then dont do it unless your going to re map it straight away. Fitting the de cat downpipe plays havoc with the car and can result in engine damage.

I can see this thread going to the gutter already Bar work? Petrol stations? Avon Ann Summers the list goes on Good luck

Question and Answer time Q) Over fueling just now?? A) Yes Q) Will I need to fit a 3 bar map sensor? A) No, just re fit the Std one and enjoy Q) Am sure there is a lot of people with a VTA without anything like this fitted. A) This is why there are so many people that complain about Subarus blowing up and they cant understand why. Moral of the story is, dont fix whats not broken and dont ask max power garages for advice
-
Nope, just dont fit a VTA valve. Andy will tell you the same Im sure

The 3 bar MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure) is used to determine the absolute pressure (not the relative to atmospheric pressure) of the air inside the intake manifold and the atmosphere (barometric pressure). This information is used to determine the density of the air entering the combustion chamber , which is used when calculating the proper air/fuel mixture for the engine. To simplify. By running a VTA valve your confusing the ECU by dumping the measured intake air. The MAF measures the air being drawn into the induction/turbo/manifold. When you shut the throttle and dump the air to atmosphere the ECU thinks the air is still in the induction side and adds fuel to match. But the air has been dumped, not recirculated like it should in standard form. Fuel is injected and there is less air in the system than the ECU thinks. This is over fueling..bore wash...big bang, etc!!!=bad new Thats a real rough way of explaining it, I could go indepth if you like

Ah, not so bad if your getting the feed away from the heat of the engine bay then Jon. Sounds good

They not about £1200 for a set without rubber?
-
I wont bet..I can confirm that a good panel Filter will do you well. Save your cash for someting you need
-
Bttt for a cracking WRX STI

<< Your choice at the end of the day. I know some of the WRX's that are over or near to 300 have them so maybe speak to someone like Bing or Irish Al and see what they think. >> Speak to Andy Forrest and he will tell you not to bother unless remapping to over 350 brake. Im sure he knows better than most going by his results

JC, It would be worth your while to try and make a box for the filter your running just now if you can. Try and sheild the cone from the under hood heat thats getting blasted onto it. I had the same problem with my FMIC and not being able to run a CAI system. The result was horrific charge temp readings. I got readings up to and above 25 &30 deg over ambient when sitting still or on slow roads until the car had picked up speed and the FMIC started to work. Even then I had Det on real hot days when using the car on sprints etc.
