  1. Congrats. What times were you getting?
  2. Now that's not shy is it? Welcome aboard.
  3. Fair enough. Most people that want to do it have never driven one. If you're thinking of doing it just on a whim, don't. You'd need to really want it to make it worthwhile.
  4. It can be done but is a LOT of work and finding the right parts can be a nightmare. Can I ask if you've ever driven a car fitted with it and why do you want it?
  5. Hmmm, never heard of JAM unless it's going on some toast or techtom. Sounds like some obscure Jap tuning house but a bit of googling may clear that up but certainly not a well known package if you ask me. I can only assume by live mapping he means the car is mapped on the road or a dyno rather than just being chipped to pre-defined settings. Sounds like a bit of a chancer to me.
  6. +1 Massive respect is due to the organisers and all the unsung heroes who made this one off event possible. Well done guys.
  7. Level 4 or 5? I'm only on stage 3. When on stage 2 I had the new engine with the hybrid turbo and a set of ported OE headers but as mentioned they can seriously restrict you once you get to 400bhp. Just have a look at my dyno graph The power should have kept climbing but flatlined as they were holding me back. Dunc is correct in saying a remap will be needed though. Due to the volumetric and dynamic pressure changes, combined with the increased scavenging properties you'd hopefully attain through effective thermal management it's a bit of a no brainer really.
  8. There is no breather pipe on the turbo, just oil and water. White smoke normally indicates water so I'd be looking at head gasket etc, the compression test would be a good place to start. Check the coolant and loil evels as well.
  9. Should I take my passport just in case?
  10. By this time next week we'll have already left for the biggest Subaru meet in history. Time to start a checklist to make sure we're all ready. Accommodation booked - check Pass from the missus - check Time off from work - check Suitable transport - check Sticker attached - check Pocket full of beer tokens - check Now all I've got to do is throw some clothes, pro plus, red bull, asprin and credit card in a bag and I'm ready. Can anyone think of anything else?
  11. Yes, but was it from me or the car? And I think you've done enough grinding for one year already.
  12. Good idea. 295 for 4 pots from memory though.
  13. Holy sheet! Nice work mate. World record for sure.
  14. Wowzers. Is that cars or stickers?
  15. Andy, how many cars are going at this stage?
  16. If the car was as it left the factory factory in 2000 with no mods? £5k, £6k? How about £17k? Get your wallets out as you might not get another chance at one of these http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_...200827313622830
  17. Like I said it's a fair suggestion and may well prove to be the case. A leakdown test or a look at the plugs will go a long way to confirm or disprove this. Believe me, I'd be happy to be proven wrong on this one. I'm not doubting the built quality for a second but to err is human and even the pro's drop a bollock now and then.
  18. Emoe - that sounds like some quality advise there but it doesn't explain the flat spot in 4th and 5th. If the oil was making its way past the rings then it'd be detting it's t!ts off and the ecu would be pulling advance like crazy, hence the flat spot. I'd do the checks you suggested and a leak down test if you have the equipement. It may well be the turbo but so soon after a rebuild my money would be on the internals.
  19. I have the same problem with the ap's Chris. I'm tempted to fill in the yellow logos black as that should tone them down a bit. Dunno when it'll see the track. Still got to get the mapping finished to unleash it's full potential and more importantly make it safe. Thanks for all the positive comments guys.
  20. Yes Imy, I've done a bit of colour coding by painting the front mount black. Like I said I never did like the ally look at the front as it give the game away a bit, not what I was after. Now, if I could only make it sound stock now. Oh and Andy, just cause you drive a pimpmobile doesn't mean you need to dress like one.
  21. I was thinking black, it is the fastest colour after all Grant - I could post a picture of my underwear if you want, there is plenty of evidence there after she lit up all 4 today on a shakedown run
  22. Well, i do really but never did like the look of it. Draws too much attention and spoils what would otherwise look like a standard car. So, I've gone from this.... to this... Not as good as a lateral front mount but it'll do until funds allow. Just got to get the neons on and it'll be ready fro Banbury
  23. Edited for correctness.
  24. Nice one??? His new cars slower than his old nail
  25. Cheers Davie, although I'd guess the hula hoops might have been more up your street
