  1. News travels fast and far ....... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread...5412&page=3
  2. I did intend to but have 3 staggers ( a 5 dayer in Ibiza ), 3 weddings ( one in the Carribean ) to pay for now..........kinda screwed up my funds. The only automotive fun I have lined up is the SIDC track day and a two day Caterham hire..... If you go with a group I'd advice a group of 3 cars or less. Anything more is a ball-ache and you'll get split up in the Ring car park by default ( v.v.v.v. busy) If I were you I'd try and also go on a weekend where a VLN race is on http://www.vln.de/ My parting advice :- Cheers Cal
  3. Holy sheeeeet ! Lucky escape ma' man .............as much as I am gutted about this I am more excited at the prospect of what you'll do next. Hope the insurance come up trumps and that you're motoring again soon ! Cal
  4. Ace choice ! Now get an nice little H&S system ! http://www.haywardandscott.com/results.asp?category=13
  5. TDO4 Hybrid ! Fastest spool combined with VF35 shove in the back
  6. Good work fella - you must be baltic out in that garage ! I have contemplated a rub down of the underside of my Rex and then some undersealing but it's freezin' out there ! Nice to see my old gear knob being out to good use
  7. Great news ma' man ! I knew you'd be pleased........the spool up on a remapped TD04 with freer breathing exhaust is immense eh ! How long before you upgrade to STi pinks, Sti TMIC and a VF35 ?!?!?!?! Cal p.s Andy F gets tons of email a day so if you want to grab his attention have a title like " REQUEST >> Remap Booking Session Please "
  8. http://www.carpages.co.uk/subaru/subaru-impreza-02-02-09.asp still not enought to tempt the masses ! Gimme a 330S for £20k and I might be convinced CGS
  9. Stupidly clean ! Give it a year and you'll have to hoover the back seats ! Liking the new rear spoiler
  10. World Rally 2009, 2 07:00p.m. – 08:00p.m. The very latest motor sports news. 2009 begins with Rally Ireland, which takes in counties including Sligo, Leitrim and Tyrone and includes a street stage in Donegal town. Enjoy Cal
  11. You are an automotive tart my son ! Nice acquisition matey
  12. Should hopefully be attending this although I have pretty non-track friendly tyres on a present. Will need to get them sorted or I'll be all over the shop ! http://www.sidc.co.uk/shop/product_info.ph...1268951f5042957 Forgot to add that she revs cleanly to 7k unlike a regular JDM WRX ( due to the STi7 JDM engine and RA heads). Coupled with a 5 speed box it should be pretty good on the straights CGS
  13. Nice of these tools to do a u-turn now..........when I got my first road tax reminder for the 2.5 L Wagon it was £400. That's when I though it time to punt it on. I am now paying £185 for the classic and £145 for my diesel A4 Avant. You wonder how long they'll keep the rates down for !? Cal
  14. Forgot to thank Russ & Simon at Wallace Performance who very extremely helpful. Saw Fee's Skyline when I was up there and some very quick Evo's. Russ was showing me the boost & bhp profiles for the owners Evo - it had over 700bhp !
  15. My car has been running fine of late with the exception of some hesitation in 4th and 5th gear on WOT. It was bugging me so I fired The Patriot up to Wallace Performance for some diagnostic checks. Besides I wanted to know what she ws supposedly producing as claims of 350/350 seemed quite ambitious. We found no boost leaks in the system and the engine is spot on. We then did some dyno runs and the AFR wasn't looking ideal. Russ then tweaked the map a tad and we still had the odd misfire at the top end. They then changed the spark plugs and adjusted the gaps accordingly. After a few more tweaks we had 312 bhp and 293 ft lbs. Prior to that we had recorded more bhp but less torque ( 320 / 267 ). No more misfires after the plugs were fitted ( thank god as we thought the coilpacks were potentially goosed ) The TD05-16G was making target boost in the mid-range (> 1.5 bar) but not at the top-end. We put this down to the actuator or just turbo fatigue. Either way I am happy that she is now running sweetly and more importantly safely. It would have been nice to see 350 / 350 but I think that was always a pipe dream on a 16G. Regardless she pulls real hard and I have plently of oomph for now. So since I have bought her I have :- - uprated the brakes all round - MOT and Tax'd her - got the engine running safely - got new alloys n' boots No I need to get the suspension track worthy. Also bought a new private regi for her L9 BPM which I picked up for only £100. Toy'd with the idea of L555 BAE but prefer a short plate. Cosmetics can wait but I have a new bumper and fog light covers to fit when I can get time. Bought a Lambda sensor too as there isn't one currently ( mapped out in the PFC) and she was drinking a fair bit of fuel. Should make a difference when cruising on m'ways etc. Here are some pics from the day :- Cheers folks Cal
  16. It's a shame Subaru didn't start doing diesels about 3 years ago..........they might not be in as much of a state as they are just now Anyway, I think that Legacy looks quite menacing. I doubt I would ever buy on though
  17. I always forget about this sticky ! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RKf0Woig9kA&...feature=related video gets real good after 50 seconds
  18. MAAAAAN ! That is a real nice find - very impressed and a tad jealous too . Enjoy it !
  19. Great news Colin ! Well pleased for you...... Don't let the new baby get in the way of modding. My old boy is a serious petrolhead and 6 days after I was born ( me being the first) he was out buying a new motor ! Sad but true Are you past the black keich and into the beige ones yet ?!
  20. CRAIG - no need to feel bad and I feel it generated some good chat at the end of the day.... w.r.t the shortwheelbase chat.........on that Green Evo he had a 1 foot section cut out of the car. That makes for more snappy oversteer. One of the reason Porsches are widow makers is down to their relatively shortwheelbase ( + heavy engine in the rear). Another analogy is my old boys Mini project ( still on paper although the donar car is purchased!) - he's torn between shoving a Vtec engine in the front or a bike engine in the back and having it RWD. One of his reservations is that these old Mini's have serious tail out moments when you shove the engine in the back. Reason being that the Mini has a very shortwheel base which means the back end is more snappy and less easy to predict. I have had a little Google about and found this incidentally :- http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=355622 Stewartyboy - not sure whether you mean shorter track in this instance ? Cal
  21. This sounds like a mega transformation - presume you were running a TD04 before ? Do you find you know get a nice pronounced thump up the jacksi (in comparison with the 16G) Good to see a high torque figure too Any plans to track her and unleash the full plethora of horses ? Cal ( badly misses his bugeye !)
  22. Presume you guys have seen this clip before ( from Knockhill Time Attack) ? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Da4x1aGXUhg I am convinced that the car is an absolute beast to tame and this is coupled with the fact that the longitudinal wheel base has been shortened ( hence more prone oversteer...) Having said that he does do some odd things. For instance around 5 mins 10 secs he spins out at Duffus Dip. He appears to brake and down change in a straight line as you'd expect. He then seemingly fails to get back on the gas on the approach to the apex which throws the weight of the car all over the place. I have no desire to slate him ( lucky fella that he is with all hat machinery at his disposal..) but that does a pretty fundamental error. He also takes some really odd lines which leave him at a loss ( especially at the hairpin when he's chasing the white evo) He gets on the gas to early and runs wide rather than squeezing on the power in a straight'er line whilst unwinding the lock. The white Evo leaves him for dead despite the fact it's clearly harbouring less ponies. Have to agree though, we're not born with these skills and everyone has to learn somewhere, sometime....... Cal
  23. Cheers Stuarty, The Patriot is going to Wallace Performance tomorrow for a dyno run and some basic diagnostic checks. Getting the ARB fitted too ( time permitting) - appreciate the advice folks. Incidentally, has any tried running an ARB on the tightest hole with standard suspension ? It makes for VERY interesting oversteer. I had this with my black bugeye and it was pretty lairy. After I fitted Prodrive springs and had geom. done the oversteer more or less diminished Cal
  24. Awesome advice from the collective massive - I salute you fella's !
