  1. Please keep clean & tidy...........starting this thread to help newbies and to aid meeting folk whom you've chatted to online for years but never met face2face Specifically doing this with the KH SIDC meet on the 28th - I get less of chance to meet the Central Scotland folk these days Your Name Your Face Your Car Mods - appreciate if you could a ) clean up any banter/dross and b ) make it a sticky if it takes off Calum a.k.a ~ ~ Cal ~ ~ Thanks Cal
  2. Col - will give you a comprehensive answer tomorrow.....you'll just have to "weight" Talking of waiting....how long will it be before I want a TD05-18G and 6 speed box The Super7 is pretty lairy and apparently only to be trusted in the dry. My Dad ( John) has booked up for Hot Marques on the 25th so we'll see how she handles then. She has a big brake upgrade and mega sticky Avon rubber so shall inspire real confidence. You should hear the individual throttle bodies and decat zorst - sublime ! edit - beat it Granty !
  3. On the issue of smaller alloys - just out from a right good blast to clear out to cob webs now that most of the salt has departed. Even on standard springs, the combination of stiff sidewalls and the ARB mean hardly any body roll yet a very pliant ride. These Advan tyres remind me of the RE070's that I used to have on my bugeye. Tram line a fair bit but very very composed. I have finally got rid of most of the understeer I had before. This now means I can prod the fun pedal early in a corner. The fact I'm on standard springs means that you get some mild oversteer from the rear end which can be nice to exploit when required. KH should be ace fun - not been on for over a year but now in a faster, lighter car with stronger brakes so it should be scalp tastic !
  4. Could do with a respray - I'd say fair condition. It looks like it's seen a few jet wash pipes dragged over it in the past.
  5. Welcome ma' man - very torquey steed you have their - very very capable on a b-road
  6. I am kind of torn on the gold alloys - they dont look right with the silver but then again alike the OEM sleeper look too. Opinions welcome Compomotives in grey will be my choice in the fullness of time LOL @ the 16 yr lassie !
  7. Yes - direct fit with no mucking around Paul. Used all 4 existing holes and wired up no bother. Used silicone to seal the edges and prevent water ingress at the holes St3ph3n - it's a beast all right. Has integrated throttle bodies which can be heard a mile away. Decatted zorst = many a pop n' bang - seriously jealous ! He can drive too
  8. Yeah - noticed that when I bought it but you really only notice it in pictures. Not sure of the history there. The rest of the bodywork is pretty damn good for a 16 yr old lassie ! 17's shall likely go back on after the SIDC track day on the 28th Cheers CGS
  9. Having bought the car for £2.5 K I have spent a further @ £2.2 k since last October BEFORE Mechanically sound but looked a bit weary and needed some TLC. Bumper fitment was pretty poor and needed addressing. and this was with the 17's on.... AFTER 6 MONTHS Made a fair few changes of late to the auld girl New rear spoiler sprayed and fitted. Rear strut brace installed Cusco 22 mm ARB fitted on stiffest setting New standard springs fitted ( which is a long story ! was told they were Eibachs) Bought very good nick STi alloys with sticky Advan rubber Fitted Performance Creation flaps with Prodrive Decals New front bumper which fits like a glove round the FMIC and has been sprayed. New fog covers sprayed and fitted New Private Plate – a steal @ £99 The new alloys don’t look as good as the 17’s I still have in the garage but braking should be improved and the tyres are nice and soft with a stiff sidewall. Thanks to everyone for advice of late Cal p.s I was doing well until my old boy bought this beast on Sunday http://calum-shand.fotopic.net/c1667838.html . Should be unleashed at KH soon. 360 bhp per ton or so !
  10. Have been contemplating the old CG Lock ( excellent for what they are) versus the harness scenario in light of the forthcoming SIDC track day. I came across this video which I thought was worthy of sharing :- ( Dangers of "Submarining" :- http://www.schrothracing.com/sdocs/SchrothASMII.wmv ) Cheers Cal

Porsche Brake Calipers of that fella's grey Litchfield Type 25 (cannot recall his name)
  12. The engine bay is manky ! Would love to see this weapon up the KH straight again - it's acceleration was mind blowing Good work fellas CGS p.s any video of this in action or in-car footage ?
  13. THIS IS UNREAL CSL with straigth pipes - listen to it on the over run Goosepimple material or what
  14. Fark ! should have spotted that ! Just saw the decals and assumed it was an RS GT2 is way sexier and raw - what a machine to unleash @ KH. Fair play to the chap !
  15. Just checked the website and indeed you are correct. I thought it used both but it seems it's just the accelerometers
  16. Went ahead and fitted.........as long as you get the right kit out and take your time these things should be a breeze Gear laid oot :- Willing Assistant with early morning bed head to match my own :- Finished Product ( note that the top most hole had to be drilled with a 2mm pilot hole, then clean 6mm hole, filed off) :- Fitted a treat ! Cal
  17. Sideways pics are great - the last one of that white GT3RS is awesome - it looks sooooo muscular
  18. I shall do some rough tests and let you know my findings. Would be good to compare against a VBOX like evo mag use. CGS
  19. Nae sure but typicallyif you buy an aftermarket knob (e.g Momo Race Air ) they come with adapter to suit various cars. Just clear rubber inserts to ensure a good fit This one matches the steering wheel nicely. I had one and it was excellent Nae the cheapest but look mighty bonny Cal
  20. Anyone else going ? I missed out on tickets for the recent Friday release but got lucky this morning @ 10 am. Line up looks pretty damn good for the Saturday If only Calvin Harris and Oasis would pitch up then I'd be even happier.......... Went last year for the first time and was always put off by TV coverage before ( dense corwding before the stage). However, I loved it and the variety so shall endeavor to go as often as possible now. Just bugged it's been running for 15 or so years and I have missed out Cheers Cal p. sod camping - I am a day tripper !
  21. I am doing a similar thing for my 40th in 7 years ! We are saving £20 sheets a month between 6 of us so we'll have a massive fun pot to go bonkers with.......... Never been before but heard plenty good stuff. For a group of blokes it seems impossible to get bored oot there ! Keep us posted
  22. Cheers Geo - I may quiz you more about this. I have not done anything underneath as yet ( other than spray waxoil on a few small vulnerable spots) Shall wait for the summer and get it on a ramp again for some TLC. Arch - what was the name of that paint you used again - seemed to be good stuff ( unless you got it on yer coupon !) Jodie - cannot beat old skool. In my teen years I had many favourites but Colin McCrae obviously got me hooked Has anyone got anymore tips in keeping the engine bay in good nick ? I may install a reverse FMIC scoop because i get some water ingress at the moment because of the FMIC install. The cold air is welcome but not at the expense of corrosion. Do you guys ever replaces bushes and the like frequently ? I am also keen to replace all OEM bolts that are not in tip-top condition. I may go bonkers with powder coating at some point too. See you all in 15 years when a Type R gear box in good nick with DCCD etc shall be worth about £10K ! CGS
  23. Anyone got any experience with the iphone and the application http://www.dynolicious.com/ ? Seems pretty ace on the face of it. I am hoping to use it @ KH to generate some jpegs of some laps to analyse braking points etc. Purely out of interest rather than trying to be smart and chase daft milliseconds I studied GPS at Uni so I have some reservations about the accuracy ( & hence precision) but we shall see. Half the battle is calibrating it and then making it secure on your dash when your pulling some "gee". Shall let you guys know my results but has anyone else got any experiences to date ? PocketDyno seems good too and is free Fully expect a reply from the resident techy bloke St3ph3n ! Cal
  24. Excellent Graham ! An inspiring thread. I must get my jacksi over to the suspension guru that is the Geo. Never sure whether it stands for George or Geometry. Nothing better than seeing your car transformed ! Look forward to meeting you @ some point in the future Cal
  25. Love it ! Where will it end ? Dig out the fishnet fire proof suit for weight reduction ? Run the beast on jet kerosene. Keep the thread flowin' and the pics coming
