My name is Cal and i have issues :- I was brought up to worship petrol and my old boy used to make me sniff Castrol racing oil fumes at Doune Hill Climb at the tender age of 3. My dad got me into cars and he has had some weird vehicles ranging from a Scimitars to a Morris Minor and even a 1926 Rolls Royce. ( He owned a chauffeur firm at one point )During my youth he had a Mini Cooper, Renault R5 Turbo Raider both of which were a great hoot. Then when i was rooked at Uni he stabbed me in the back. Having been a big McRae fan he went out a bought a split new 1998 UK impreza turbo. Man I loved 1st gear in that car and the lairy lag. After he once let me drive it on the infamous Stockie I knew i had to own one. (he know has a Renault 172 Cup that you should never try to follow on the Stockie as he has driven it every week day for the last 7 years.) Soo......I told myself I'd have one before i was 30. After graduating from a 1.4 E plate R5 to a 1.0 Corsa ( from new - sensible buy --not modded ) to a 1.6 Paxo VTR I swithered between a new CTR and a Scoob. At the time i was doing like 25k a year going between Glasgow & Aberdeen every week. The CTR was great - fantastic brakes, sweet 6 speed box,was rare back then, decent economy and I could get one brand new. Modded it slighty and boy did it sound sweet if a tad too loud . You may have seen it in one of the 9 track days it did at KH ( where Scooby scalps were claimed on many an occasion ) So.....( bloody hell this is reaching novel proportions) the trouble with the CTR was that it wasn't Scoob When my GF moved in with me the situation became critical. She things Scoobs have ugly "tails & vents" and hates them full stop. It was a mammoth mission to convince her hence I bought a discrete black 52 plate WRX ( which I love). If i was single I'd have a WR1 or Litchfield Spec C or even a T25. Anyways, she now quite likes it and loves the VTA DV ...........so since owning it since January this year i have had it fitted with a Subaru WR sport BB mated to two Afterburner ( decat & unresonated ) sections, Sti8 wheels from the famous WR1 batch, Scott lowe flaps & a Turbo XS RFL DV. So mainly added cosmetic mods that happen to be performance enchancing too. Love the looks I get but i bought it for 1. the burble 2. the burble 3. the burble 4. the 4wd and diffs 5. the rally heritage 6. B-road nudger inducing pace. If I didn;t have a burd then I'd have a big CF spoiler and a NUR spec BB but things have to be comprimised in life. I'm half inclined tp go out and fill up but panic buying usually causes mair grief ! Cal p.s as a quick aside will I see many performance gains on my semi decatted fairly standard WRX using Millers octane booster ? I suspect it would have a neglible effect ? any boffis care to answer ......thanks

WR1 and P1 giving it some........was it you ? Wr1 was drifting nicely but never when i had my camcorder on him . The P1 sounded awesome and was spitting some new flames on gear changes. Never got time to speak to anyone ( god damn these 2hr sessions) which annoyed me. I was with my mate in the red Mini that was getting more attention that anything else parked in the car park. It has a Honda Type R engine with throttle bodies and weighs hee-haw. We ripped everthing on the track a new one Even the Ferrari Modena didn't stand a chance. We were running slicks on the front wheels and got pulled by the Feds on the way home for a blown exhaust which explained why if got progressively noisier during the session.... Felt for the fellow with the S2k who looked as though he'd hit the tyre wall A great night but not long enough - some serious kit on parage include a Challenge Stradle which moistened my loins Funniest thing was that I was following Ian( Mini owner) in my Scooby back to Aberdeen. The Feds watched Ian go by with me in hot pursuit. We were not speeding so when the cops turned round and tailed us I was amused as to why they were following me. Turns out after they blasted past me and nabbed Ian that they were listening to my exhaust note. They thought my exhaust was goosed but it was Ians who was miles ahead. They only found out after they asked Ian where all his spares were ( tyres, tools etc) and he told them that i was his support vehicle in the Scooby. then they twigged ! Cal

An update folks :- Ran well but not as well as I'd hoped.........it was 75° F with feck all breeze which zapped performance. Despite putting in more training than when I ran it 2 years ago I was 9 minutes slower @ 2hrs 19 mins. Even the top 10 runners times were down due to the heat. Bottle necks on the Kingston bridge were frustrating too I felt really good till the 10th mile and then was really hungry with a huge stitch. My legs could have gone on forever but energy levels took a pummeling. I didn't stop which was my second goal. I would have to train for a good while to beat 2 hrs me finks.......
