Yep, too many things kept me from doing the trip, and am absolutely gutted - but what a fabulous turnout, and it must be good for the McRae family to see that their son is most definately not being forgotten.

You can read about them here on Andy F's turbo advice page. Edit - the Turbo is the one second from the bottom, and has 2 of the 3 bits required to fit it - the RCM rotated up-pipe with seperate pipe for a Turbosmart race spec external wastegate. Just needs a downpipe after that.
-
I take it a new GT30R with the up-pipe and a turbosmart wastegate for the same price as AndyF advertises a MD321T isn't an option?
-
I've bought a GFB unit for my GT-B. Still to be fitted as the engine is going back in soon - but it looks superbly made and is the unit that is electrically adjustable from iinside the car, so it can be as loud or as quite as you want.

Sparco do a runner kit that is specific to Impreza's. Just phone Demon Tweeks and they'll keep you right.
-
Approx £6 each from dealers, don't think anyone else will do them.

You can get the latest aeroblades as a twinpack from your local Scooby dealer now. I got mine from there and have had no problems whatsoever.

Ryan, if you are refering to the set I have for sale, then send a PM to Wilky. He has seen them in the metal, and actually had nothing but praise for a set of headers like this that he had on a car previously.
-
You could use the box from a GT-B, these are designed to have around 260ps, but I believe they struggle with much more than that. If you get a late enough version with the correct wiring and ecu, then you can go for the tiptronic option. Not worth the time or money in my own opinion though.

What type of Impreza and what scale are you looking for Frank?
-
Judging by the car count on offer (24), I don't actually think that the Mark1 or 2 is included in the sale price. A bit sad that a sale of David Sutton cars doesn't actually have a Pukka Group 4 escort in it though. So what sort of offer would buy the whole lot do you think - my out-of-thin-air guess is approx £2million give or take 500grand

Shame I didn't know about this earlier, as my mate is a Scottish Champ at building model cars, although in 1/24 scale. I'll dig out some pics of the work he has done. When it comes to building cars that are a bit different, I generally do the sourcing of the parts, and he does the hard work.

Mot - Preferably Lanarkshire Or Se Glasgow
craigdmcd replied to st3ph3n's topic in Scottish Scoobies
No problems with the exhaust Stephen, just glad to help and it just shows how easy it is to get an exhaust on and off again when you have access to a ramp!! I've heard other folk mentioning that garage as well - seems to be one that's good to go to, but hardly gets a mention. At least that's you sorted for another year now. -

Stephen, I've got a full exhaust lying about that you could fit for the MOT and just take it off after it's passed if you want -
Actually the spec that I'm gunning for is very similar to what Andy was writing about himself in one of the last issues of Scoobymag before it went belly-up. The results were very impressive, and his own WRX with these mods embarassed PPP'd Sti's IIRC, as the car was on boost so quickly that it was up and off while others were still thinking about getting going. I've also seen tests that show a good sportscat only restricts power to the tune of 5-10bhp at thius level of mod.

Bit of a bummer that the PPP kit remap isn't a Ecutek in disguise. I've already acquired a Newage STi intercooler, a walbro pump, and am trying to do a deal on a modified TD04 at the moment. I still need bigger injectors (I believe STi ones are ideal), a new up-pipe and a Sportscat downpipe. I was hoping for around the 310-320bhp mark at this and very quick spool-up. The car is actually my wife's and I'm trying to keep it very driveable. I was going to possibly sell it, but it slides under the 225 bracket for road tax, and have owned it since new, so am looking to make it a bit more enjoyable for a few more years. Anyway, enough rambling, I would still be interested in a remap if the cost was agreeable.
-
I would be tempted to put my name down subject to a price - the car is the wife's WRX already has a PPP kit, so do I need to buy an Ecutek license or does it already have one?
-
I've had really good experience with A-Plan for the last couple of years - but I think it is because I deal with the imported car dept. My Wife's WRX PPP with mods declared and my 1999 GT-B come in at under a grand for both together.

People are spending far too much time on YouTube - bloody brilliant though.

Top find, and fabulous words from Travis. -
Do they still have "Chief soap-picker-upper-in-the-showers" on the rigs then???? Are you still coming back down for MOT's then?

Lightened Flywheels - What Weight/which To Choose?
craigdmcd replied to stuarted's topic in Scottish Scoobies
The chap in West of Scotland Engineering beside the Kelvin hall in Glasgow wasn't keen to get my GT-B flywheel down to the 7kg mark, and they are well thought of in the Glasgow area. I ended up buying a TTV 6.7kg unit (the ones that are in the Demon Tweeks catalogue). I can get them supplied to your door for £230 the last time I checked. -
I'm surprised you managed to test them when warm then, as any time I've been up north it always seems to be wet and less than 6 degrees

Talking like that, I was lucky enough to be at Knockhill a few years ago for a Subaru driving day, but the rain and mist was soooo bad that they couldn't see between the marshalls posts (in mid-August), so there was a WR1 prototype, a STi and a WRX giving passenger laps with "pro's" driving. The only real pro was Gordon Shedden - and he was driving a WRX estate. After a few sessions with the different drivers, and having been back out in the WRX again (Gordon was a absolute hoot to be out with), me and a few other boys were standing in the pitlane when the WRX roars in with a broken N/S/R drop glass. GS had been giving it large round a corner and hit the kitty litter, and the passenger in the back hit the glass with his helmet and shattered the window!!. Best of all - GS drove the WRX straight in to the pits after about 60-80 hot laps and turned it off without a second of cooling down. Like you say, must be nice to trash someone else's car and not have to worry.
