It's always been alright on my wheels. The worst stuff I've ever seen was the acid that Halley's use when doing a service wash - it was corroding my discs and bells!!!!

Gav at Evolution is definately the man in my opinion. He used to be in KAS in Falkirk, and went out on his own. He does fitments on Porsche's and Lambos, so if his work is good enough for the owners of them, then good enough for me. Did my Series 1 Legacy RS a few weeks back - top bloke.

I am assuming that the gearbox has all the bolts out and the pin for the clutch fork is already removed. If this is the case, usually the gearbox is jamned on the locating dowels. If there is no movement , and you can't get a pry bar or lever between the engine and bellhousing, then I tend to get a large pin punch and knock the locating pins through a bit to get the a bit of movement between the box and engine. Hope this helps a bit Craig

Scott, got one from the wife's 04 WRX, almost new and immaculate - free if you can be bothered coming to Hamilton to get it.

Interesting spec, and a very nice list it is. That must be using up some of the inheritance you have just received - or lottery win (delete as appropriate). Couple of questions. Why choose a MD321 over a GT30 (I'm guessing you are going for large boost, so an external wastegate is obviously preferable). What management system are you going use? What sort of shell/year of car is this going in to? Would you not prefer to use a Cosworth large capacity oil pump rather than just a uprated pump? And finally, how much of this stuff have you got, and the stuff you haven't - do you intend to buy new or source from elsewhere? Excellent post to get a discussion going what will work best. Craig.

Imagine what this would be like if Litchfields did to this what they did to a Type 25 - You would be out baiting RS4's and M3's just for the laugh. Time to check my lottery numbers, and if that fails then find an internal organ sale site.

I can assure you that they didn't have the 4wd rollers back in 1993, and the reason the car didn't go back to the dealers is that it was modified and Clanfords (the Ford dealers in 1993) would not entertain such a repair under warranty. Shame I have to explain this and people not taking an individuals word when all other points are taken on board.

Years ago, my mum's cossie had a running problem, and they wanted us to leave it overnight (it was a year old at the time) even though they had no insurance for it!!! I asked how they were going to test a 4wd cossie as I didn't a 4wd rolling road - they said that they would put the front on the rollers and just jack the back up in the air . Never been back since surprisingly

Actually Stephen, for the value for money aspect and the room in the back (a real reason for buying an astate in the first place), then the Leggies are hard to beat. Probably just as well Gus didn't get a GT-B though, the list of mods for them seems to endless (no pun intended) when you find the Hyper Rev books for them.
-
Looking good Gus. Out of curiosity, does the car warrant a full set of coilovers or would a set of GT-B springs and shockers or a Prodrive spring set (Prodrive spring set) be more cost effective. As usual, a set of Whiteline ARB's and links perform wonders on these.

It was definately worth watching the show. I can't see them making a fast version of the SX4, as Hyundai, Seat, Citroen, Peugeot or Skoda have never made 4wd turbo versions of their cars. It is definately one of the downsides of having WRC regulations instead of Group A regs. P1 Paul, I don't think it was Ouninpohja that had the bad jump, it was another stage was new and that was why it caught out the crews IIRC. Ouninpohja has been in the 1000 Lakes forever and a day. I do stand to be corrected though.

No, that was not me, I fitted my engine myself and mine is a Legacy GT-B. The con-rod and the gudgeon pin, I had to retrieve from the bottom of the sump. People ask what broke first, and to be honest I never studied it hard enough to find out, and let's face it - knowing wasn't going to help me rebuild it.
-
The alloy triangular section is a chunk from the n/s cylinder block, and 2 valve heads got snapped completely off the stems. As you can guess, the engine was totalled, and could only swap the ancillaries to a new engine. The inexperience of running a JDM on standard UK fuel, a low fuel load, and a giving chase to a Merc at continuous high revs was an expensive learning curve.

Colzo, the listing info on Sky describes it as "WRC-Access all areas : a special preview to the WRC", so hopefully not just a review of last years championship.
-
I only pop on SIDC every now and then, but just kicked in this morning and found that it looks like theUK Legacy Forum has swapped to a small section of Scottish SIDC. Gus, I'm sure you will be very happy the Legacy, as much as it doesn't give the outright thrills in 2.5 Lux spec, it is still a hugely capable car, and they have kept the build quality that made Subarus legends in yester years. And as has been stated, don't go shopping in one, unless it's the pound shop.

Looks like the WRC coverage has moved again. The usual half hour shows are still on Eurosport in the wee small hours (probably running 2 hours behind because a Tennis match between no 93 seed and no 96 seed is running over in the Estonian Quarter finals ), but Dave (Channel 111 on Sky) seems to have the rights this year. It is able to be series linked so hopefully this is not just a season preview show, but all the coverage and the Rally XS preview shows as well. Hopefully a nice consistent time setting as well.

Sorry, but the piston out of my GT-B took a bit more abuse than that, but then, there was no chance of mine running at the end of this : That is some nice damage to your piston that wouldn't show without careful inspection though. Craig

I think the wesite you are needing isUK Legacy Forum?. I've got a 1999 GT-B myself, although the BH5 model did actually start in 1998, so quite probable that your car may be a 1998 version. If you need any advice, feel free to ask, or go to the UKLF and ask for help - even Wilky did!! Craig
-
Craig, what sort of modified TD04 do you have, and what power do you have with it?
-
Got the wife's WRX there, and Harvey struck an excellent deal and has always been friendly and professional since. If you need parts, you should only really ask for Paul (the parts manager), he is excellent, knowledgable and even knows how to navigate through the import disc (got a cupholder for a GT-B!!! try finding that in Japanese). Unfortuantely I don't want to bore you with how much the service department let the rest of the garage down. Buy a car or parts - Yes. Put the car in to the service department - never again

This stuff won't make your car go that much faster on it's own boys. This is almost the equivalent to the the Elf Turbo fuel and Carless that the rally cars have been using for many years now (nearly £4 a litre the last time I asked!!). To get the best from it, a full remap, and an extra dose of boost should be dialled in. On the rally cars, this fuel is worth around 25-30bhp with the remap.
-
Thanks for the quick replys boys. Z1000, my work deals with Pristine, and judging by the pics, would you consider the finish to be almost like standard? That's what I'm really after.

Right folks, scored the alloy against a kerb on the Impreza tonight as I was changing a CD [:$], but they were starting to get corroded anyway. It is a set of original PFF7's in the Anthracite colour. So what I am actually looking for is recommendations from people that have actually had their wheels re-coated, and how they rate the quality of the finish. I've already seen the discount section at the top of the page and used the search function and gathered some info, especially handy with regards to the snapped wheel!!! I've also had a chat with the chap that owns Prestige Tyres in Busby, and he has warned me against people that just push the rim off of the bead and paint them, as when you change the tyre the next time, it has more of a chance of flaking the new coating. SO who has had what experiences?
-
Stephen, you are absolutely right, if you got a new V-Power club card to replace your Optimax card, then that's what you should be collecting points on.
-
Don't know how long I had saved for (but it was a while), but I redeemed mine for £150 of B&Q vouchers. I also get points by having a Shell Visa card now, so I have another £50-60 coming soon. They can be used in Comet and Halfords as well, so you usually find something to buy.
