Is it too late to order? I somehow managed to miss the final ordering stage last time (I think i was on holiday) . No big deal if it's too much hassle, just thought I'd check.

Ach, the weathers fine, the rains only going a wee bit to the side !!

Sorry to hear of the loss Andy Let's hope something happens soon so you boys (and girls!) can come home to the heroes welcome you deserve.

Doug - is this to create an "MOT exhaust" that can be loaned out to club members when the annual PITA emissions test comes around ? Good idea if it is. I think I've got one somewhere, but it's a complete system and it seems a waste to break it up. I'll try selling it and if it doesn't sell, I'll donate. Dave

Tips for KH track days ( in a Scoob) ?
dave_morgan replied to ~ ~ Cal ~~'s topic in Scottish Scoobies
Depends on the car obviously, but in my experience, if you want some rear end action in a scoob, you'll definitely need some form of "flick" into it (unless you're in a type R or have major power!!) . Hit the brakes hard, start the turn in before you come off the brakes (best way to get a good positive turn in on any car) and then hit the gas. This is with the hairpin in mind BTW, I'm not thinking of any other corners as this is by far the safest one to 'practice' on. Get a few laps under your belt using the hard brakes then turn in technique before you go for any 'flicking' though, to make sure you get a feel for the balance. You'll probably get understeer until you get the amount of turn in sorted out. General Scooby advice : FILL up your tank, and ideally take a jerry can with you so you don't get too low. Fuel surge is a problem at the hairpin at Knockhill and is VERY annoying. Last time out I was having a nice cat and mouse with a Westfield and an elise (tut I think), but I was getting surge at the hairpin which meant all the speed advantage I should have had on the straight was lost by a slow pick up. Very frustrating I can assure you! I won't be making that mistake again! Other advice is just the usual start slow, speed it up gradually, stop regularly to let things cool down, don't put the handbrake on in the pit lane etc. John Stewart's written a good track day guide somewhere which he'll hopefully put up before the day which has some good general advice but you'll probably know most of it as a lot of is general knowledge if you're a regular "tracky" ! HTH, and have fun !! Dave -
As with any good ideas, somebody still needs to actually DO IT, to make it happen. This is where most of them fall down I suspect . Karting was mentioned at the Edinburgh meet on Friday, and I am currently 'on it', trying to get dates that don't clash with other events etc. !!! WATCH THIS SPACE !!!

<< Traffic dependant, it is 45 minutes from the "Welcome to Glasgow" signs of the M8 (just past Junction 10 Easterhouse/Barlanark going east) to Hermiston Gait at the end (Junction 1) of the M8. You should get to the Stables within 1 hour of the Showcase Cinema junction of the M8 (Junction 8). >> Granny !!! Dougster can do it in less than 30 !!! Directions are pretty good Brian. The only correction is that after Hermiston Gait, the Fairmilehead junction is actually only the 2nd exit junction. There is an extra ramp that comes on, but there's only Dreghorn exit then the one you want after you get on the bypass. For those running low on juice, there's a Shell at Dreghorn services that sells Optimax . If anyone gets lost - call me on O7974 O23 686 See you all there ! Dave

Yep, everybody welcome. We all had to attend our first meeting at some point and buy everyone a "Can I join the gang" drink

I've used fancy plates before and can't fault their service at all. I asked for smaller letters and shorter plates and they came exactly as requested (for track use obviously). I've also have a set made up at Pentland Components with standard size letters (and no border), then just hack sawed the ends off to make a short plate (I've got a 4 digit reg) and if you're carefull and finish off with a file or bench grinder, they look fine too. A think you're legally allowed any size of plate, as long as the digits are the correct height and there there's a specific amount of white space between letters and the edge. Check with fancyplates - they'll know the legalities and what you're likely to get away with. It also seems to depend where you are, what you get away with. I'd been running around in my GTR for over a year in Edinburgh with no problems, and then I got stopped TWICE in aviemore for my tints and my plate in the same weekend (different coppers each time). Edinburgh coppers seem to be sensible, and as long as they plate is still easily legible, they don't mind too much. The Aviemore guys seem to have nothing better to do, as adressing the drug problem is far too much like hard work, so they pull anyone who has a big fly stuck to their plate !!!! Anyway, enough waffle - HTH ! Dave

A friend's selling a very nice end terrace if anyone is interested. 203 Gogarloch Syke Pictures don't really do it justice. It's had an absolute fortune spent on it over the last few years. Real wood flooring, new kitchen, bathroom, windows and landscaped garden. Worth a look if you're looking for something in the area. Dave

And the P1.....

Need to dig out a decent one of the P1, but here's the GTR...

It's in Mortonhall, Edinburgh (a mile or 2 from Ikea). There was a nice wee map up there earlier, but it looks like their site is down !! Try here : Link to Stable bar website... Dave
