KARTING DAY AND EDINBURGH SOCIAL - 16th APRIL
dave_morgan replied to dave_morgan's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Thanks John, Event still on, just need to scrape together a few more bodies. I'll push the deposit date back to the end of the week to give us time to get a few more sign ups. So, deposit now due : 4th March. If we get enough signups by Wednesday, I'll put an address up for posting cheques. Thanks all, Dave -
OK, I haven't dug them out yet, but from memory there are 2 reasonable tyres, and 2 marginal ones so how about £160 total. That's £30 a rim, plus £20 for each of the reasonable tyres. I'll definitely dig them out this weekend, so pics will be available over the weekend. They'll need a good clean (which I'll do), but they're pretty scuff free IIRC. They were originally bought new from a subaru dealer, as they were the wheels that the P1's had fitted when they came into the country, before Prodrive started their work. Dave

Need a few more definites to make this happen. I was hoping for 32 people, but we need at least 16. Any more interest? Dave -
No guarantee, but usually the cars at these auctions go pretty cheap. If anyone is looking for a Clio 182 or Golf 4 motion, might be worth submitting a bid... http://www.sweeney-kincaid.com/Sales/Photo...de=1&SaleID=549 I've bought a load of office gear from these guys and they've always been good to deal with. Watch out for the buyers premium on top of your bid though ! Dave

Anybody local fancy some full length mirrors? Doing a bit of clearing out at the moment and have 4 full length mirrors about to be skipped. I'd guess they're about 8ft x 18in and are currently mounted on wardrobe doors. Perfect for ceiling mounting !! Dave

KARTING DAY AND EDINBURGH SOCIAL - 16th APRIL

<< the owner of raceland go a scooby limited to 500 think it the rb1!might just even come and watch! >> Tom's got a WR1 now. He had a Evo 7 FQ before that, and a P1 before that. A man with good taste ! -
Been bouncing some ideas around with Spooks and have decided to organise a karting event on the 16th April, followed by a social at the ever popular Stable Bar in Edinburgh. Karting Karting will be an Outdoor Super GP event (individual racing) at Raceland and will start at 12:30. These events usually last around 3 hours, and then we'll retire to the Stables for some apres race chit chat, some food and probably a beer or two . The Super GP event involves a practise session, 3 race heats, and then a grand final. All drivers get 4 races which is usually enough for all but the hardcore karting junkies!! The karts they use are twin engined prokarts which are capable of 70mph, so plenty of high speed action is guaranteed. The exact event details will depend on the numbers we get, but anyone interested will have to get a £25 deposit to me by the end of the month (28th Feb) and the rest to me a week later. It is non-refundable, but usually if something urgent comes up, we can find an alternative driver and get your money back that way. The cost of the event will be £47.50 per person. If you are interested, please post below so I can make a formal booking and guarantee the spot. If there is a LOT of interest, we might be able to switch to a team event which can cope with more drivers, but I'd need to decide this soon and check availability with Raceland. Social Drinks, food and the usual chit chat at the Stable Bar. Open to anyone, even if you can't make the karting as there's always a good laugh to be had. The Stables will be on the way home for a lot of people too, so will make a pretty good venue I think. Again, post your interest as we can book tables if there's a lot of interest. The owner drives a scooby, so we're always well looked after Summary : Karting Date : 16th April 2005 Time : 12:30 Venue : Raceland, Gladsmuir (http://www.raceland.co.uk) Cost : £47.50 To be paid by : 7th March (£25 by 28th Feb) Format : Prokart, Super Grand Prix - individual racing Social Date : 16th April Time : 4:30 (ish) Venue : Stable Bar, Mortonhall, Edinburgh (http://www.stablebar.co.uk/) Cost : Free - (unless you want to buy me a pint to thank me for organising and beating your a55 at the karting ) We're hoping that the combined event might encourage a few extra faces to come along, so get your name down fast if you're interested. Any questions - please post here and I'll answer when I get a chance ... 1 - kart_man

p.s. I feel your pain bro - been there many times myself !! But if it's any consolation, just 'cos it sold for 40 quid, doesn't mean you'd have won it by bidding 41. Bear in mind that the winning bidder may have bid 60, but the next highest was 40 so it only needed to increment the 1 pound to win. That always makes me feel slightly better !!
-
http://www.bidnapper.com To be honest I don't understand why people get upset by sniper programs. You should decide how much you want to pay and bid that - remember ebay will only bid one increment higher than the other highest bid, so there's no point in bidding 40, then bidding 50, then bidding 60. Just bid 60 in the first place, and it'll automatically go to whatever it takes to win. If someone comes in after you with a higher bid, then they wanted it more than you! (or value it higher then you do). Decide what it's worth to you and bid within the last 10 seconds (I wait till around 5 admittedly but you do risk missing it then) and you will definitely win some bargains. There aren't as many steals on there as there used to be, so don't expect to bag one every time. Bidnapper give a free trial and are very good. It means you can bid at things at 4 in the morning too, without having to stay up all night. I won an sti spoiler while I was at the knockhill sidc day last year by using bidnapper, so it's pretty useful for that aspect as well as the last minute bidding advantages. If you can't beat them, join them !! Dave
