are you calling all the classic boys a bunch of strokers?.......lol
-
yup nitrided crank with better oil flow, wider track (you can tell by the little spats on the rear wheel arches), dccd (in UK anyway), 114.3 pcd with wider alloys and uprated hubs, removal of some big rubber bush thing from steering column to supposidly give better steering responce and updated interior amongst others. Engine good for High 400's as long as your sparkplugs dont fall to bits Graeme

Got the Engine out and head off and I am pondering on where to go next as the heads are cracking round the spark plug holes but from what I have seen what STI heads (AVCS) arn't. Oh yea the reason for the lack of compression is due to a burnt valve. burnt seat and the cracking #2 cyl #4 cyl also got some light scoring in #2 bore Graeme

Today is the day, 4 bolts more, a bit of jiggling and it will be free! (I hope) Graeme

Yea Pedro, we shall soon find out when the heads come off for inspection (no point on doing only one side is there eh! ) Dave, Yea AC is now de-gassed, I dont use it much anyway so its coming out! Graeme

na, only started tackeling it today, well this afternoon. I found that Subaru have managed to place every wire and pipe right in your road, started swearing loads when I started taking the rotated turbo set up off as everything seemed to be in the road. Gave up at tea time as I started getting frustrated and wanted to swear alot. Should get it out in the morning as all that is left to remove is the engine mounts, powere steering pipes and gearbox bolts. Just been taking my time as I am on my tod and making sure I bag and tag everything along with taking lots of photos. One thing I have noticed that on the drivers side of my radiator it is all bowed with the first 3 lines of fins being all loose and ready to fall out Graeme

That sounds about right. last time crude was the same price it was now pertol was mid 80 odd p per liter the robbing persons they are Graeme

As far as i'm concerned I still dont know what my exact compression figures are as I dont trust my £18.99 Halfrauds gauge and am only using it as a comparison over the 4 cylinders, but you never know it might be correct! looking forward to Sunday! (sort of) Graeme

NGK PFR7B bought off a guy from Northern Ireland on Ebay. plugs only fitted for 200ish miles. dont know if it is all down to the plugs or not till I burst the engine open to see what damage there is. ps you still have the first refusal on my APS kit if you wish....lol Graeme
-
Machine Mart didnt have any compression testers left so I got one from Halfrauds. numbers 1, 3 and 4 all showed 115psi and guess what no 2 showed 20psi does anyone know if you can get the head off without lifting out the engine? Graeme
-
its already rotated....lol
-
Yea, We checked each coilpack and plug to ensure a spark and even swapped the two known good ones from cylinders 1 & 3 over to 2 & 4 and still no joy. Oil pressure is still over 6 bar at idle (closer to 7 when cold) and no smoke from the back end. I am getting a little oil vapour from the breathers though when the car revs which i dont remember happening before. Apart from running on 3 cylinders there is no clunking or other strange noises. Im off up to machine Mart to get a compression tester as they are only about 40 quid Graeme
-
Car started only running on 3 , tracked it down to a missfire on #2 When I removed the plug (that only had done about 200 miles) this is what I found Replaced it with a new plug and still no joy, so engine will need to be removed for further investigation Graeme

Numpties the lot of them, I would not step foot in that dealership. Tried to say that my prodrive springs were not prodrive as they were red instead of blue (trying to get out of warranty work), they didnt even bat an eyelid when I informed them that blue ones were for WRX's and red ones were for STI's. O n top of that still no appology after I informed them that I actually purchased the springs from them. Halleys = total waste of time (and they wont give a club discount)
-
I believe it is a T
-
Lowered it approx 30mm all round, used to be able to get my fist between the tyre and the arches then after fitting the springs I could only get my a bit of my hand between them Graeme
-
Ive got the Prodrive springs on my 05 STI, much more comfortable with far less "titty bounce" on a day to day drive, but feels more planted on track. Its strange with the Prodrive springs being progresivly sprung they are softer on the road but seem to be harder when you want to push things on track with a bit more feedback than the standard springs Standard Prodrive springs (not the best pic due to the angle with 18's on Graeme
