  1. I would love to buy this off you, but I would then need to put my car on hold for 6 months. Good luck with the sale, I know this car and its a stonker (Away to look at the finances ) Graeme
  2. Dark Blue Metalic
  3. 9K for a 03 plate WRX is a bit steep you can get a newer STI for that!
  4. Just down to cost John, I want to try get the car running at least this year as I can use my old setup and low boost map for running in as it wont be a million miles away. I have also not driven a subaru (except jacs a couple of weeks ago) in anger in nearly a year. Callum took me out in the fat boy with the same turbo fitted when it was mapped to 1.6 bar and it was mental Jac, not interested in straight lines, I prefer corners I am tempted to stick it right on there but I know my childish imature side will take over and I will just want max power right away (not the mag) Graeme
  5. New part turned up, wont be fitting it right away though as I will be prooving the car and myself with my old MD321T+ first Graeme

  7. Good write up and good vids
  8. Not going to go huge power right away as I will be sticking with my old turbo (MD321T+) and injectors (800cc)to teach myself how to drive it again. It was a 450bhp with 400 odd lbs-ft of torque daily driver before it went off the road I plan on getting the car Whiteline'd out its nut as Jac took me out in his car the other night and showed me what a properly set up car is like and it blew my mind with superb turn in and fantastic composure through the corners, so much bracing and polly bushing along with geomitery settings etc required !! before the car even starts getting mapped I cant afford plated diffs just now but they will be on the cards for when I fit the bigger turbo that I bought tonight I dont fancy going as far as a cage just yet as that would just spoil its use as a road car IMHO. Once the car is up and running I will be taking it slow and steady winding the power up in stages to prove both me and the engine are ready for the next step.
  9. Cathy, sent you a goat realy must get off to bed as soon as vambo has finnished playing graeme
  10. Again good luck to all those racing Im not sure if I will make it now as I am just back from the dental hospital after getting one of my back teeth yoinked Graeme
  11. Best of luck to Chris, Jac and Peter this weekend. I will be down but dont know when yet Away to measure a mattress to see if it will fit in the back of the disastra Graeme
  12. Aye Ciaran hes no got the interior fitted yet, hes been busy fixing the leak he had in the car and fitting a load of new parts, I think the interior is going to go in last once he has everything else right. John is well chuffed with it anyway. Johnny, remind me to have a skinfull of guinness the night before you pop round....parp! Graeme
  13. The previous set of plugs I had were the 7B's and they were in for 30,000 miles so I recon I was just unlucky Didnt get as much done as I wanted due to gassing to a few mates that popped round, I did get a few bits off my old engine cleaned up and painted so will get them on tomorrow once the paint has dried I was going to fit my AP's but cant remember where I weft my locking wheel nut key....doh!! Graeme
  14. Oh well now that I now have something to start with I suppose I had better start a build thread. It all started in October last year I think when I fitted new sparkplugs (NGK-PFR7B's) which one of them must have been faulty as after 200 miles this happened I presume a bit of the melted sparkplug got caught behind my exhaust valve and did this after doing this anyways with the head being burnt and cracked I decided to start myself a little project because afterall getting a 2nd hand head and sticking it on would have been far too easy After speaking to Colin (Playsatan) about his build and the guy who built it I decided to go with Ron at Raw Performance (ex Axis Performance) for my build so the hunt for an engine started. As new EJ22 closed deck blocks are no longer available I set about hunting down the Legacy owners clubs over in the states as these engines were fitted as standard to them. After a few weeks of hunting and placing wanted ads I managed to find this little gem It turned out that the guy who had it was only a couple of hours drive away from Ron's place and he offered to sell it to me AND drive it to Ron's for $600 USD....BARGAIN !!! I paid the guy a deposit with the rest to be paid once Ron had inspected the engine. OK so now I had an engine I just needed to find a set of heads. I didnt want to get a normal set of STI AVCS heads as they are prone to the cracking arround the spark plug hole as shown in the picture further up the page and I didnt want to go back to the older non AVCS heads so I settled on trying to find a set of the hatchback STI heads as they are dual AVCS anyways after alot of hunting over here I came up with nothing so again turned to the states and came up with these So now the build was on! after alot of emails I decided on a build EJ22 CDB Custom CP Pistons with top and side coatings Pauter rods ACL main bearings/Cosworth rod bearings 14mm headstud conversion New 2009 Nitrited 2.5 crank modded/redrilled/center thrust setup/balance Custom Cometic head gaskets Cosworth Dry Sump Oiling System with external scavange pump modified 12mm oil pickup pump 2008 STI Dual AVCS Heads with Custom Kelford AVCS cams (nothing too wahoo) inlet: 264 duration/ 10.95mm lift exhaust: 260 duration/ 10.40mm lift Compete internal valvetrain kit- comes with dual springs, ti retainers/keepers, +1mm oversized valves stainless intake/Inconel exhaust, new stem seals, and a new set of STI shimless buckets. This also includes the Cosworth part needed to run my front cam position sensor. 5 angle valvejob porting, and assembly with valve relash Some pics Ron sent me a while ago So Ron has been getting pretty buisy of late and needed some space in his workshop so asked if it was OK to send my engine over without the Cosworth dry sump as they are being tits and taking their time with the manufactor of some of the components needed to which I agreed so I now have this sitting up the back And just so I know its mine So Im off to go get changed and start bolting some bits onto it. Will update this thread as I go Graeme
  15. Happy days, got a phonecall from UPS asking me for £409 this afternoon as there was a package with my name on it waiting for pick up. So paid the charges and I'm off to pick up the new engine tomorrow. Only downside is that Cosworth STILL have not fully manufactored my dry sump so I am still waiting for them to pull their finger out! You never know you might still see me at a meet this year Plans have changed somewhat as I now plan to just run with my old MD321T+ and 800cc injectors for the first 6 months to a year just to prove the engine and to teach myself how to drive the car again spec list to follow later Graeme
  16. Peter you should know better, Motorcycles dont hold the traffic up and are nothing like the numpties using pedal power. I was stuck behind this group taking up the whole carriageway (yes whole carriageway) from India tyres right the way into Renfrew which is about 3 miles. I was 5 cars back and never had a safe opportunity to pass so i didnt. I was in the Astra van which also compounded the issue as I didnt have the power to just pull out and blast past. The group of about 15 - 20 muppets went through the red light at the Renfrew swing bridge AND the traffic lights outside the Police station so they held me up for a fair bit more than 2 seconds, more like 3 miles.
  17. I hate these bloomin ignorant ignorant arrogant bas***** all riding 2 or 3 abreast with no traffic sence and running red lights as they please I realy wish I was a copper and I would fine them all for having total disregard for the highway code a AND Running RED lights before seeing how their lycra gay suits hold up to a right good flame throwering arrgghhhh ........ and relax
  18. Oh yea some more good birthday news, I should have my engine back in about 15 days time, unfortunately minus the Cosworth dry sump as they say they need to have a few more bits machined (2 months and waiting) Cheers Cosworth!!!!! (just trying to keep the thead scooby orientated )
  19. Cheeky ya carnts!!! Just wish I wasnt back on duty at 0800hrs, or I would have been able to sample a bit more of what Oban has to offer Might need to pop back up on my leave Graeme (officially a grumpy old fart)
  20. Alright peeps Just had Grant (Squiggle) on the phone saying that Prodrive were speaking to him and said they have a set of Prodrive assembled Alcon 6 pots for sale with disks, Bells and pads for £1000. Calipers are badged Alcon. and pcd is 100 pcd and all items are new if anyone wants these they are to contact Grant within the next 2 days and he will bring them back up from Prodrive on his way home from Goodwood I only posted this here as it is such a limited time offer rather than in the for sale section Graeme
  21. I have a Dis Astra van, im running veg oil so could do renfrew to morryshire and back on about half a tank so would be happy to do the run anyways if you want me to come and pick up and drop off to Tommy, give me a shout ( be easier than making the kids sit on the roof) Graeme

  24. Alright, Sorry not been able to post for a bit due to the internet being slower than an old granny in the 100M hurdles at work here. The crank is a 2.5 STI crank that has been modified from being a rear thrust bearing type to a center thrust bearing type, the crank was welded up and then ground down so it would suit the center thrust setup of the block. The crank has also been ballanced to 10,000 rpm so I suppose that this is the reason for that edge being ground down. Thats the Cosworth dry sump ordered and should be delivered to Ron soon, Ron also had a 12mm modified oil pump lying around as a spare, so at least that saves me a bit of cash not having to order the Cosworth pump. The only thing left to pay for now over in the States is the turbo, I still havent decided what to go for, I'm toying with either the normal Garrett GT 35/42 or the Tial turbo with the V band housing or this I feel a trans atlantic phone call coming on soon Graeme
