  1. Was it black Craig? Just i know of a IX that was heading home tonight your way. It's only done 150 miles, so he isn't going over 4500rpm! An ex STI9 owner too.....
  2. I'm beginning to tire of this guy too, although I have to admit, to begin with I found him amusing [] Gav wasn't driving my Evo, I was, and it is my own car, nothing to do with WP. It is 9 years old, 104000 miles, woeful tyres and only mods to induction, exhaust, boost controller and a map. Standard knackered old engine, turbo, head etc etc Hardly surprising a newish well sorted STI was a little quicker for a short spell of lap or so. More to do with the driver than anything else anyway. Ask Craig, there was nothing between them in a straight line. He definitely had more grip and of course guts [] Oh, and please PM me your Reg no. if you will, and I'll go find your dyno graphs......[*-)]
  3. Be nice to see you there Craig. Yours appeared to be comfortably the quickest scoob there yesterday (maybe bar Wilkies unfortunate breakage). Can see I'll need to get some sticky rubber and a more committed attitude to show you a clean pair of heels at Knockhill! [H] Incidentally, what happened to you towards the end of the session when you pulled out of the pits behind me? Didn't see you re-appear in my mirrors despite a clear track and a dozen laps.....![] I had a much better grasp of the car and track by then , maybe that was the difference [] Anyway, suspect you may find the tables are turned a little at Ingliston [] John, didn't realise the discount worked both ways, cost me an extra £7! [] Never mind [] Just had a thought, how ironic would it be if I am handing out a trophy to a scoob next week! [:$][*-)][]
  4. Ooops! Touched a nerve there! Never a truer word is said in jest eh?! Check back to the thread dude, Andy, Gogsie and even the Queen Mum admitted that there was no fault with my wiring. AVC-R worked perfectly. Maybe I should do your bit, and tell you how easy it is to get the diagrams blah blah blah and how you should've known better? Please take note that I didn't use this approach. Ho hum..... Made my point, so I'll try not to cause any more trouble. Apologies to the innocent bystanders.
  5. All in jest ladies, I promise []
  6. Wiring fault was it?! [] Sorry, me bad, couldn't resist [:$] [6][]
  7. 166 recorded at TOTB this year over a standing mile in a shonky old fwd shed.... Oh, and I am NOT Captain F! Been trying to find out who he actually is!
  8. Not sure I can reply to this (thought it was locked?!), but thanks for your comments Gordon, much appreciated. Also caught up with Andy, just to clear the air a little (thanks Andy). Can I just point out that the T-piece that blew off was installed previously, and not by WP.Both Gordon and Andy agree with this. Also, the AVC-R is working perfectly with no changes requiring to be made.
  9. Wuz, WHY THE SHOUTING?! You are making presumptions without knowing all the facts. Butt out. Sorry if I don't know all the wiring off the top of my head. [:|] Of course I know where the manuals are available, ask the owner of the car. I already pointed out one wiring fault with it to him. More and more of your posts appear to be getting at me or WP. If you have a problem please come in and talk to me. I don't publicly criticise you at every opportunity. I thought better of you than this. Apologies to others getting more useful info from this thread, but I felt it necessary to say something.
  10. Thanks Marc, be good to catch up [] If you remember, there was a real fuss at the time about how if you wanted 400bhp you go to one mapper, if you wanted 370bhp you go somewhere else......[:|] Bet those people (who should've known better!) don't come forward and apologise now [:@]
  11. No, I didn't know that. Would that explain how a certain Sti8 got 400+ at Dastek and circa 370 at WP ? Nor will they tell you how fast your car will be on the street/track. Currently the UK's fastest std internals 2.0 Subaru on the 1/4m shows only 340bhp on a DD RR Similar cars showing 420+ however are running slower times and mph. Not a Dastek unit but recently I was mapping some cars on a customers rolling road (against my better judgement) and one car lost 15 bhp after sitting overnight unaltered You certainly can't compare DD rolling roads in different locations (or is that different operators) so I don't expect a dastek operated in different hands to be any different. For some light reading - http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/26063.html Andy Sorry Andy, the key word was meant to be "modern". Perhaps I should've made that clearer. You won't argue that chassis dynos have come on leaps and bounds. Been over this before, but the STI8 you are talking about made 400bhp at Dastek UK when Gerry has admittted there was a minor issue with the dyno, but I guess you knew that. Ask Chris, we made every effort possible here to make that car make more power.... I don't have any real expectation from comparing dynos figures, just hope. I think it will be interesting to try. Happy to report back either way. Interesting point about the car sitting overnight and losing 15bhp. When we do the 1st run on a car, with engine up to temp, but not transmission up to temp, there is always less power at wheels. You can probably see this from some of saturdays graphs. Obviously the 2nd run sees more at wheels, but pretty much the same at flywheel, because the Dastek dyno calculates the losses. Wouldn't be the same on a dyno dynamics machine, and may well explain what you've seen. I am sure you know all this really, but not everyone here does. Besides, you are almost not disagreeing with me on some points, I must be making some sense!
  12. Dude, you haven't got a scooby have you?! (pardon the pun! If anyone has concerns, give Gerry at Dastek a call. He will be more than happy to explain fully.
  13. Thanks, I didn't think you were. I agree there doesn't seem to be any consistency between these dynos right now. Guess people should just keep going to the same dyno. No real way of measuring improvements otherwise. I hope when Craig has run this week that we can at least say that Dastek UK and our dynos are comparable! They should be.(hopefully he'll not move the goalposts with different fuel etc!)
  14. 360 Ste, the Dastek dynos measure the transmission losses, so it doesn't matter what pressure you run your tyres at. You could change gearing, wheels, tyres, tyres sizes etc etc and while the power at wheels would change, power at flywheel would be the same. Try that on a dyno dynamics! Dyno dynamics dynos like Japerformance have much greater transmission losses because of the roller design and the way they hold the car down. Just look at how deformed the tyres look next time you see a car on one. They are very useful dynos for measuring power at wheels, but the flywheel power is just a calculation based on not much more the operators whim! Would kinda explain why all those evos showed less flywheel power yesterday, eh?! JC, unfortunately unless you want to take your engine out, there is no better way of measuring gains, particularly at different points in the rev range. Besides, if you use the same dyno for before and after mods, then the gains or lack of(!) are very measurable. One thing you can say about modern dynos is that they are generally very consistent. But I guess you knew most of this already.
  15. Stephen, using IE7, and yes hitting quote.
  16. You may find that yesterday the cars were run in 3rd, so less transmission loss. Also explains why some cars didn't achieve the boost people expected. Dyno dynamics transmission losses certainly hit the other extreme though!
  17. Yup, lookin like next week should be excellent! Btw, wtf is going on with all my posts?! Don't seem to be able to shake all that gobbledegook, never had a problem on this board before?!
  18. Hey, JC, that was me! [] Hopefully all this has riled up AndyF enough to run too, but I doubt it!
  19. Craig, come in one evening this week if you like, Tuesday onwards. Just give me a shout. You can test the wideband and the dyno!
  20. Yes, one of them at least! Dyno dynamics dyno's are very open to operator "error" shall we say!
  21. Andy.F wrote "It's certainly not lean on the road." Not nice, this internet conjecture, is it?! At least I didn't say "the person that mapped it should've known better". Cal, IF Dastek yesterday did have an issue with their wideband, it may have been down to the new logging software (1st time out). We are using a different wideband without the software (mapped several other cars up to 400bhp last week with no issues). If you'd like to drop in one evening this week I'll gladly verify the fueling with two different widebands. May at least give you (and Andy!) some peace of mind. I'd much prefer help out rather than argue.
  22. Nice numbers Did you manage to find out why it was lean?
  23. Thank you for that. I suspect this thread is likely to be closed anyway, considering Stephens comments, but for what it is worth, their are always two sides. Engines break all of the time. They are machines, machines have a limited life, particularly if they are not well maintained or operated beyond their normal parameters.
  24. Andy, you are jumping to conclusions here without knowing all the facts. Please don't, I wouldn't do that to any other "tuner", let alone you. Dave has had every part of his map changes explained, and indeed was involved in choosing what characteristics he wanted from the car. He will even confirm that I spoke to Mervyn at ecutek too. As far as I am concerned, the customer is fully informed and happy. End of.
  25. Ask Andy if he would map cars on the rollers if he had some. I dare you...........[]
