  3. I'm sure that even if you only manage around 15 cars we could still go ahead. Or you could open it up to a few other marques too if you like?
  4. Or he could go the unichip route, £565 incl. vat fitted and mapped. Have seen sti's up to 340bhp on these.
  5. I don't think this type of online discussion helps much, but if we are going to pick out points please do it in context. I should also state that I (personally and WP) have nothing against you Andy. Indeed I have followed your results around the UK and on the forums with as much interest (and pride that you are a Scot) as anyone. >>>Just to clarify a few areas where a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing +++Agreed, as can be the fact that what some people say is immediately taken as gospel "It doesn't matter which gear you use on these dynos." >>>It does if the ECU has been mapped with gear dependant boost and wastegate control, optimised on the road for a dynamic ramp rate completely different to the rollers. +++ Maybe I should have qualified my point a little, but I was referring to the fact that the dyno isn't as dependant as others on using the same gear, it can measure transmission losses in any gear you care to run a car in. But to back up what you say, in that respect of course a car won't display the same results in 1st gear as it would in 6th, for example. "Ask Dasktek UK if you want confirmation on that." >>>I have discussed this with Gerry, I'm sure he is aware of it. +++ I am not disputing what you've said. Indeed I've tried it myself for fun. Best toy I've ever had the good fortune to play with, a dyno. "Your car was making it's boost targets in 3rd." >>> Interesting, what was the target I mapped in for 3rd gear ? +++ No idea Andy, I was only going by what the cars owner said. As it turns out, I got something else wrong, we ran the car in 4th, not 3rd! More chance of making your boost targets perhaps? But worse for charge temps, although we have already covered that. "The advance multipliers on your car were checked and were still at maximum." >>> This means nothing in this context and should only ever be considered as a long term indicator, short term knock correction can be massive without altering the AM +++ This was only used as a crude indicator. You'll agree we might've learned something if it was displaying a different number. The short term knock correction was also checked and there were positive numbers in there...... "The dyno is Dastek, thus the fans and every other facet are Dastek, so identical to Dastek UK in Dalgety Bay. Indeed using your own charge temp gauge the start temp was only 18 C in Aberdeen and you said it was 24 C at Dastek UK." >>> The operation however can change the final figure as most operators are aware. +++ Agreed, and this case appears to be the perfect example. The car in question was tuned for road performance, not to be a dyno queen however I appreciate the frustration that can be created when different readings are achieved. +++ No comment! Not within our control, all we did was dyno the car. Of course it might be suggested that we had something to gain if it made less power, but the main reason for me posting here was to show that we made every effort. More info on dynos and some reasons for different readings...... for those still reading - Rolling Roads +++ Which testament is this Andy Please take this post in the good natured light it is intended! (go back and read line 3 if you aren't sure )
  6. << With a little help from Agra Engineering in Dundee >> Only the best at this level dude Btw, are you man enough to take back some of last weeks comments? It wasn't even comparing the same car!!!
  7. << apologies for the manner in which i broached my opinion. Im just annoyed that within 7 days there are different figures produced. not to worry, thanks for your help saturday >> Apologies from me too if I have appeared too "matter of fact". I am not surprised you are annoyed. Hopefully you can see that we did everything we could to help towards the numbers you were hoping for. I don't stand and spray water on everyones topmount when their car is over 100mph on the dyno! Get yourself a front mount man! Regarding the boost targets - sorry I thought you said it was as you expected on our dyno - iirc it was holding c. 1.45 bar top end.
  8. << OT Russs, I believe you might have my old wagon in (MY95 Red) with a starting problem? Jake S now has the car & called me on friday. If you need any wiring/ other info give me a shout. Daz >> Nice of you to offer, thanks. Not been dealing with it myself, and to be honest we have alot of work on at the mo and it may not get sorted immediately. We probably shouldn't have taken it in but Jake was desperate for us to have a look at it. Will keep the offer in mind........
  9. lmao Was digging the dump valve, but that wasn't why I do it! You'll notice Gav keeps the revs up too, albeit a little more smoothly. Purpose is to keep the oil pressure up - we feel it is worthwhile and easier on the engine after a hard run.
  10. << Back on topic. Who/what made the 506bhp? >> Steven Scanlons Evo VI. It's fairly well known round Aberdeen now Built and mapped at WP incidentally Top guy, his head was splitting with a migraine so he made the journey from Ellon, stayed the 10 minutes and went back home to a darkened room. Thank you for the calming influences on this thread I have tried to only state facts, not stir controversy.
  11. << not as good today, they used 4th instead of dasteks 3rd gear. i havent been using the millers booster as i should, dont think the fans are as good. i will be sticking with dastek >> It doesn't matter which gear you use on these dynos. Ask Dasktek UK if you want confirmation on that. Besides, the longer run time of 4th gear wouldn't help charge temps, which you'll be aware is a major limiting factor on your car. Your car was making it's boost targets in 3rd. The ramp rate was even altered once to give the car a longer run in an attempt to produce the numbers you were hoping for. Your car might not produce much less power if you don't use octane boosters after your car is mapped with them, but you may run closer to and indeed experience det. The advance multipliers on your car were checked and were still at maximum. The dyno is Dastek, thus the fans and every other facet are Dastek, so identical to Dastek UK in Dalgety Bay. Indeed using your own charge temp gauge the start temp was only 18 C in Aberdeen and you said it was 24 C at Dastek UK. Your choice to stick with whichever dyno you choose. It's your car. Several cars produced higher figures than expected yesterday, and cars up to 506(.5!) bhp ran. I thought it was an interesting an enjoyable day, with a nice atmosphere. Thanks to everyone who made the effort to come along. Ps, iirc the mini peaked at 223bhp !!
  12. << Could u post up ur address/some directions please??? >> Click here
  13. << is that cos owners with cars over 300 big boys have already spent an arm and a leg getting it to that and could do with the discount? does seem a bit bizzare to be fair. >> I'm sorry, this has come across badly. The intention was to have a dyno day for high powered cars, but we didn't want to discourage others totally. Perhaps would should just keep the rate the same for everyone, but hope that it's mostly the big number cars that turn up. Guess we'll just let you all vote with your feet?
  14. << Thanks for the reply Russs. I think I have a car for every occasion too! OK I lied about the 300+ >> No probs As I said, we will be having other dyno days, they may suit your other vehicles better. The customer is king - if you want something, just ask! We will do a dyno day/evening for any group or club with a minimum of ten cars. << What about a special discount price for back-to-your-roots C20LET's? >> Carl, for you, no chance!!!!! Just kidding. Of course we can squeeze you in.
  15. << << Owners of cars with over 300bhp will qualify for a discounted rate of £30 for two power runs with graphs of power and torque provided. >> Why? >> We are making this a feature of the day. We can do a 200+ day later. Even a 100+ too if you like? << What time u open till? >> Probably till about 6pm, but later if necessary
  16. Wallace Performance are holding an open dyno day on 10th Sept. Owners of cars with over 300bhp will qualify for a discounted rate of £30 for two power runs with graphs of power and torque provided. Cost for cars with less than 300bhp will be £35. Start time will be 10am and cars will be taken on a 1st come 1st served basis. We will stay open as long as cars keep arriving??.. This is mostly targeted at our many customers with Impreza?s and Evo?s, but of course any powerful cars are welcome. There will be special offers available for DBA brake discs on the day. Please ask for prices. Contact Gavin or Russ on 01224 708444 for more info.
  17. Sorry, I rather jumped in there, didn't I I was just slightly perturbed that, as I said, no-one answered the question. It is clear in the post title. Wuz, thank you, that was a civilised and mostly fair response, sorry for singling you out. Andy, where did I question your ability in my post? Besides, I would have to be mad to try that on here! As for number of cars, to have mapped 10 times as many then you mustn't have slept much for a few years The post is about a fairly modestly tuned car. I am sure you wouldn't claim to make 550bhp out of that one. Point exagerated, but I'm sure you understand what I mean. Horses for courses. We are not talking miracle work here. Hopefully you have an answer Iain. Both parties appear to be perfectly capable of providing what you want. Isn't that what I said in my 1st post? Btw, why do AWD keep coming up in this?
  18. Nice to see you all answering the guys question You will find that wallace performance have mapped at least as many cars as Mr Forrest, with similar results. I am sure Andy himself wouldn't argue with that. Also all mapping at wallace perf. is done on a state of the art dyno. Not many privateer mappers can say that. And yes, of course it is worth it! Oh, btw, thanks Russell
  19. The more the merrier Thanks Chris, get it now. Not sure Dave, will ask Gav to call you. Rog, on pump fuel highest power so far from a nissan 300zx was 580bhp, from an Evo 470bhp, Scoob about 370 ish iirc. Race fuel figures a little higher. You will have an answer to your question on MLR shortly
  20. Power Fc Dave, or are you still waiting on the SX reg?
