Is there nobody in the Edinburgh area able to help out? I used to think Subarus were owned by rally enthusiasts. seems that has changed. []

All the best for your big day guys. Ian and Yvonne -
All those views and no comments! (Apart from Gus. Thanks m8 []) The competitors in this event include those guys who have kindly agreed to come along to Kames for the RB stopover. This is an opportunity to help them back. Come on folks.

BE THERE AT 07:30 FOR MARSHALS BRIEFING. CAN LEAVE WHENEVER YOU LIKE There seems to have been a lot of complaints about a lack of events to do of late. So I am going to post this up to try and get some people to help out at this. I know I post a lot about these and no bu**er ever bothers to turn up. This event is in Edinburgh (well almost) and is a good location with burger vans and toilets so there are no excuses about that. The only downside is that you have to get out of your bed early. The UPSIDE is that you get to be at the heart of the action, you get some nice yellow vests to wear AND most importantly without you the event won't run! Ingliston is a non-spectator event so the gates get locked and the only way to see the action is to marshal. The viewing is excellent as you get right up close to cars doing 100mph and I mean right up close. (Closer than at KH!) the stages are very tricky and a lot of cars go wayward especially in the wet. The best bit is the sounds IMHO. Somehow the echo at Ingliston just seems to make the 7k scoobs sound awesome and when combined with the tyre squeal......... It is unlikely that I will be able to go as I am waiting to go offshore just now and I really want to go so please let me see some enthusiasm for Scottish motorsport. Full training will be given on the day and I would be amazed if any car enthusiast did not enjoy themselves. April 22nd "Re-visiting the marshalling situation around Ingliston - so far I have only received 6 volunteers. If no others come forward - remembering that this is a non spectator event - then it will not run. Dunfermline Car Club consider safety as a high priority and as the club reputation is at stake then there is no contest as far as I am concerned. Personally I would rather not attend or compete at an event with the minimum of safety marshals in place. It cannot be stressed enough, the club will cancel if not enough volunteers are willing to help on the day. If you want to be there and enjoy a good days motorsport, then we desparately need more people who are willing to stand up and be counted. Lecture over, can any volunteers please get in touch to offer their services. either PM me, email ragsthomson@blueyonder.co.uk or phone me on 01324 632831. Thank you Morag Thomson"

My technique in the Pug. Dry...5k in 2nd gear. drop it in quick and feather it for the wheelspin. Wet...2.5 k in 2nd gear. Feed in gently as there will be mega wheelspin depending on the condition of the mud. [] Smooth tarmac is for wimps!

"from the Squirrel handbrake method " Stolen from Stig Blomquist no doubt. [] Stig developed that technique when he was dong hillclimbs and used it to great effect for stage starts.

Scottish Scoobies or west region scoobies?
zeolite replied to scott_coull's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Scott "The East/Fife region are very quiet and perhaps if I and other members made more of an effort then we could make things happen but there does not seem to be the interest, only a small number of people up for a meet, and to be honest if its to be 3 or 4 people turning upto a meet then I don't see the point. " If all the Fife folk felt that way then nothing will ever happen! So what are you saying? If the gang ain't big enough then you are not interested? When other folk have put in the effort to get a group going you may consider it worthy of your presence? Has it occuurred to you that by posting a statement like this it makes it more difficult to get the ball rolling. "Also probably a matter of geographical location, not just a 15/20 min drive to get to other side of town which I think puts some people off?" Sorry that makes no sense to me. Are you trying to compete with Gumball for the alternative grammar award? The Fife group is young but we already have a hardcore and ideas. We had a great run last year that you didn't participate in. More will happen this year with or without you. I would prefer you to be with us. So please think about what you post and if you have any thoughts/ideas please pm me. Ian -

Other dangerous "birds" in Fife http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4880266.stm Not far from me but it is probably the thin end of the wedge. there will be infected birds all over the country that haven't been spotted. This just confirms that the threat is real.

As andyWRX noted the haudagain roundabout is the busiest in the country. This means that gallons of sump oil, diesel and other slimy substances are dripped on that piece of road from stationary traffic. The equation after that is simple 40 mins of frustration x 280 bhp x 2WD / sod all grip = Disaster and years of internet embarrassment

bridgestones are poo IMHO. tramlining, noisy and worst of all their wet performance is pathetic. Do NOT buy them!

Brian... If two have it you have to change all of them. No question. The offer stands and I will be around from late morning if you need any help. The Trooper is getting MOT'd so no towing though.

Brian...that pic has freaked me out! I have some spare 16"s you can borrow. I will pm you my mobile number.

You are quite right John but I am afraid you are posting in a thread for reactionary rantings where any ill thought out spiel is welcome. The more virulent the better. However the comparisons between now and the days of the empire is actually quite funny. IMO this budget has been fairly kind to motorists by past standards. No increase on fuel duty is the one that really counts. The tinkering with the road tax system is just that and doesn't really count for much.

Nice Sti but why didn't you smoke that police van?

Welcome back Andy! Glad you have changed your mind about leaving and there will be more Fife runs.[]

Unfortunately I missed the last one due to my work so what I want to know is how did the new venue go? We will have the next meet on the 30th at 19:30 but will we go with the Bankhead Brewer's Fare or back to the Snooty Fox? Will a few more Fife scoobs turn up this time? ( I know quality not quantity) Answers please.

Take it to Ross Fernie in Thornton. Excellent chap and he has a scoob as well.

Road Warrior....Doubt if I will make Causey Park on the 9th as I have a family do the weekend before but I will be down for a couple of the events. Come and say hello.

Does the phrase "family friendly" not mean anything.
