For intercooler you'll be far better off with a front mount, iirc a v5 top mount is good for around 320 to 350. i don't know if you could acheive 400 on one but it would definately be easier to get there with the front mount. Johnny

Internals should cope but of the ones i've seen didn't last too long as they were used hard (although i may just be remembering the unlucky ones). Box won't last long either. The later boxes from v5 on are stronger but playsatan had his at the limit with 410 bhp. 20g, bigger injectors, fmic, pfc and avcr should see you there. Should get all that for 2k. Forgot to add, i regreted selling my R6 even though i only did around 500 miles the last year of ownership. Now got a zx6r, not the quickest or sharpest bike out there but it's great. Now i would rather have a slightly less powerful scoob and a bike.

Another option could be the banjo bolt from the feed. It can leak at the washers. This is at the edge of the os head under the turbo. Playsatan had a tiny leak there....lol Good luck. Johnny

I know you can never be too careful but the guys boss is related to my neighbour and it has been sitting in full sight of him for 2 days with me being away. Although it's been going in the garage lately and i didn't mention the alarm etc. Johnny

Had a weird day yesterday, was out in the garage working on my car and some fella who was fitting an alarm to my neighbours house came over and asked if i was selling my car. I said no as i had no intention of selling but after thinking about it i got chatting to him, told him a bit about my car and he's now away to do some thinking, as am i. I thought if i sell it it could let me start another project...mmm Out of interest what is my car worth, for those who don't know it's a tidy silver sti2 with sensible mods running around 300bhp. Owned by a sensible guy..... Johnny.

As Grant said, if your going to get an induction kit get the apexi kit. Works well on the scoob, you'll get the spooling up sound with that too. A full 3" system is the way to go removing the cat. 2.5" works well too but 3" means less hassle if you go for more power in the future.

Absolutely gutted for you. The driver was probably on drugs or drink at the time no doubt. The so called passengers are just as bad giving false statements, the police should charge em aswell. Any update on the driver??

excellent pics pete, looks like it was a good day. Sorry i missed it.. Johnny

Great to hear that team subaru won the event[] Hats off to them all, there are some amazing scoobs around at the mo.

Is it the big pulley at the bottom? If so it sounds like the crank pulley bolt is loose (common prob on classics, dunno about newage). If it is the crank pulley your better off getting it checked out. It may just be that your not tightening it enough as it get torqued up really tight (can't remember off the top of my head but it's something like 95nm, i'm sure some one will be along shortly to correct me). If it's left slack for too long it can wear the inner side of the pulley and the woodruff key. Johnny.

Another great SIDC track day event/TimeAttack @ Knockhill
johnnyr6 replied to Dougie C's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Had a great day myself, nice to meet some new faces as well as the usual suspects. Had a chat with engineer extraordinaire steve and his bro, very nice guys. It's a pity there was such a delay between the trackday and the drift/time attack event as it could have finished much earlier. Felt sorry for the rcd boys though, they looked gutted, but the damage could have been a lot worse. Oh forgot to say to spooks and rosie, your new car is luvvery ... Can't wait to see it on track...[] Johnny. -
Why would a faulty coil pack make the car hit 1.3 to 1.4 bar? If it is hitting 1.3 bar there would be fuel cut as the ecu cuts the fuel if bosst goes over 1.2bar (ish) This is exactly what my car did with a scooby ecu chip with full decat and apexi ind. kit. Funnily enough the same chip worked fine in coulty's car and the squirrels car with the same mods as mine but in my car it would hit 1.3 bar and cut, back off or use 3/4 throttle and it'd be fine. Was ok in 1st just happened when the car made full boost. Johnny

Wow, Stunner m8, you must be mega chuffed.
-
I would take my car back and take it somewhere else.
-
what chip are you using? as for some reason it's overboosting. Do you have an induction kit and what turbo are you running. It may be creep but i think it maybe down to the chip. Same as mine.
-
Hi m8, welcome. I'm also from south lanarkshire so look out for a silver classic with white wheels on the rare occasion it's out these days. I've got a tt fitted but never use it. I can't alarm the car whilst it's on. Johnny.

impressive results m8, well done to you. Johnny.

Didn't stop my m8's escort cossie blowing up on their rollers.... I'm not dissing them.. s@@t happens.

You will hear good and bad stories aboout any garage. For my tuppence worth, I've used ava a few times with my old rst, a few mates have had their cossies built there and all ran well. Their rollers seem to read lower than some others with slightly more transmission losses (alan quoted roughly 20% for my rst) . One thing i did notice is they like to sell you what they have ( understandable i s'pose and don't really recommend other products). When i took my scoob there alan (guy who runs it) admitted to me that they didn't really know much about scoobs and they struggled to change my timing belt although to be fair this was a few years ago so might have gained more experience now. Shouldn't affect a diagnostic run though. Another thing is if your car feels quick don't worry, there can be a huge difference in power readings from one dyno to the next, even the same dyno can vary a fair bit on different days due to climate, temps etc. As long as it's running sweet all's good!! Are the calipers sitting true and parallel to the discs? A long shot but i had probs with an ap setup ( with non ap mounting kit.) not sitting true to the disc and needing shimmed to sit right. There was a 2mm gap at the top and a 1.5 mm gap at the bottom. Don't know if this would have such an effect on the peddle but you nevr know, also, don't take this the wrong way but are you using a one way valve system when bleeding the brakes?
-
I've never tried the zz3 but was told they are ok, pretty similar to t1r's, i've just fitted t1r's to my classic and i now find it quite vague at the rear with a lot of movement on the brakes at higher speeds. Upping the pressures seems to help and my arb could also be contributing to it. Time to play with pressures and settings methinks. Good grip from the toyo's though.

Well myself, coulty and playsatan ignored the weather and headed down to scoobyshootout on sunday. Had a great day and the weather held out till after 2. Some amazing cars attended but must say.. Congratulations to Andy F. Quickest quarter of 9.33 secs without nitrous and running lowish boost ( or so i was told) and 2nd overall in the handling. Not to bad eh?? Was that with the 15" khumos?? Also the gobstopper was really impressive and looks and sounds absolutely the dogs. My highlight of the day was watching all the people jump out the way scared when it jumps forward when Olly put it into 1st. lol... Reminded me of a bike going into gear. It was also good to see Alan G's car run. It also went well, after a slow take off ( the new owner took it easy off the line as still getting used to it) it went on to post a terminal of 124mph (iirc). More to come from it methinks... We also got some good ideas for where to go with playsatans car and i rekon it'll be a nice wee beasty when we're finished with it.... Hopefully playsatan will post some pics soon. Johnny

Wow, where do you start?? pm to u m8. Good luck with it.

Scoobyecu installation-Urgent help pleeeeeeeeaaaaaase!
johnnyr6 replied to gus the bus's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Obviously when the chip was removed the car felt slow but with the other chip it feels just as good, prob not as aggressive power but definately the same sort of power. I don't know what it is about zerosports stuff over here, must be to do with what the customer in japan wanted or sommat. Some seem fine and others not too good. Bill (greer) had a classic with a zerosports ecu along with some other zerosports bits. It had 3 boost settings (iirc) and would only run on setting 1 ( the least boost) even with the octane upped.
